  1. No debate there the water level in LO and SLR is our concern. As Oberon said “ plans within plans within plans “ we are at the mercy of the money [emoji383] Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  3. Yes very interesting study there are so many variables that have been introduced to the Great Lakes. It’s difficult to pin anything on anything All the invasives , changes in water clarity, changes in temps. And on and on. Only time will tell the story Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. In the 70’s you could fill up the bed of a pickup with smelt at most any tributary. Selkirk was a great place to dip. The introduction of the pacific salmon spelled doom to the smelt. The salmon liked them as much as we do there are still smelt in LO , but nowhere near the population that once was Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  5. This exact action was taken by the DEC on Little Galloo. It curtailed development of fledgling cormorants on the island. I believe it’s been stopped why , is not known
  6. They enacted the ban on the “ sport” of snagging in 1995. Maybe it’s time to limit the fishing on the Salmon River to the lower sections , say , below Pulaski. And put a “ season “ in effect. Maybe Sept 1 to Oct 1
  7. Gibbs-Delta bought out o’ki. And I’ve never seen anything good come from this company. They discontinued most of their kingfisher II colors Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  9. Try being a little less condescending and act like you care that Lake Ontario and the St Lawrence are way above flood stage and that millions of dollars in property damage have occurred since this BS plan 2014 went into effect. The St Lawrence river drains ALL of the great lakes By holding back water when it should be discharged does not make room for water flowing downstream from the upper lakes. The St Lawrence seaway council is using the GL’s as a huge reservoir. I stand by my previous statement. There is MUCH more going on behind the scenes than we can ever hope to know. Money talks and the rest doesn’t matter Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  10. Maybe not in the IJC. A ship’ s pilot perhaps ? You obviously have an interest in keeping the water level at P-2014 levels. I don’t have all the graphs and charts that you present. What I do have is 70 years of experience on LO. My family owned a camp on N Sandy Pond through the 50’s and early 60’s down the road from the Wigwam. I have been on the S Pond for over 20 years In all those years , I can never remember water levels this high. You can spout all the reasons that the level is good. But I suggest you don’t do it face to face with a camp owner standing in knee deep water in his bedroom the property owners have got to band together and start a class action lawsuit against the IJC and P-2014. The threat of losing money is the only thing that will stop the Seaway and ship owners

  15. And if the water level is below the chart datum ( which it normally is at this time of year ). Ships run the risk of grounding Higher water levels make it easier and safer for ships to transit the seaway , both up bound and down bound Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. I don’t know about the ecosystem. But it sure is helping the bottom line of the St Lawrence Seaway. Shipping more tonnage later every year. Need high water for that. By the way , the Seaway has already helped the LO ecosystem they introduced the zebra and quagga mussels , spiney and fishhook fleas , sea lamprey , round gobies , and a dozen or so other invasive species. It’s all about the money. They could care less about property damage and sport fishing Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  18. Go to your library and take out a copy of “ Chapman’ s guide to seamanship and piloting “. It has everything you ever wanted to know about plotting your position and course Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  21. There must be interference from electronics or the magnets on speakers. Ritchie compasses can be adjusted. There are two screws on the base. You can google the instructions Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  22. That’s right. The upper Great Lakes are the faucet and the St Lawrence River is the drain if the faucets are running full blast , the drain needs to be wide open or you have a flood
  23. That’s The reason the draw down starts in Jan. The St. Lawrence seaway needs to keep the level high in the channels. Shipping season ends on Dec 31. Then the draw down starts. Way too late to help Lake O Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  24. That doesn’t sit well with the Seaway boys that want shipping to continue as far into winter as possible. It’s all about the $$$$. If they drop the level, the ships can’t carry as much cargo and money is lost There is much more to this than we will ever know Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  25. I spent 3 hours at the hatchery today. Lucky13 ‘ s take us right on Beaverdam brook was devoid of fish except for about 20 kings at the mouth of the ladder. They said the egg take is on track , but I’ve been going to the hatchery virtually every year for the past 10 or so , and this is the sparsest run I have witnessed.
