  1. Hey Ray, I don't know how much time you and Jerry spent together that night, but i think you broke somethin'. Maybe it was the two lobsters... Maybe it was that POUND of BUTTer.... But Friday's "run" damn near cost us three inocent lives. When we heard those cabin doors shut, we knew there was trouble a foot... With a grunt and wheeze Jerry managed to clear the boat as he sent three grown men cowering a' stern as the smell of lobster bisque made its way outa the cabin. We called for a mayday but didn't get any willing rescue party. We didn't dare send up a flare for fear that the boat would explode. With no one willing to take the wheel, the boat drove on it's own in circles, when suddenly he escaped his swath of seafood delight, slippin and a slidin' as he fell down, swimmin' in his own chum line of stank... The three of us quickly threw him and his lobster surprize stained sneakers overboard, hangin' him naked by his feet from the outrigger tryin' to clean 'em up. A few miles later he was nearly tolerable so we let 'em back in so long as he promised to stay down wind. The sheriff showed up with the hazmat team, but by that time we had already burned everything that was left in the cabin.
  2. Thanks for the report Bruce... Goin' outa IBay Sat... What were the kings hitting on the bottom?
  3. Iceman, If you're up for a Canadian get away. Pine Haven on Devil Lake is a great place to kick back, catch some bass, pike & panfish, and cook 'em on a deserted island over an open fire. Been going there for about 6-7 years now. Never gets old. http://www.cottagesincanada.com/pinehav ... asp?lang=e
  4. Hans, I'm not holdin' my breath waiting for all the secrets, but very thankful that I'm still fishin' with 'em 40 years later. Spendin' more time on the water than ever though this year, tryin' to learn. Me thinks maybe I'm spending too much time trying to target optimal speed and temp rather than searchin a little higher, a little lower than temp and experimenting with faster and slower speeds. Not sure you ever figure this game out completely, but it sure is fun tryin'. Good luck with the engine and fishin' this weekend... I'll be fishin' with Jerry at the Sodus ProAm Fri, Sat, Sun.
  5. Sorry I missed you... Your 42 to 52 temps confirm what I think I've been doing wrong.. fishin to high... I've been targeting the 52 and up temps with not much luck.. Speed 2.1 - 2.5... It's true, ya never stop learning in this trolling game.
  6. Thanks for the tip Jammer. Sounds like I've been fishin' too high. Much appreciated. See u on the water.
  7. Hey Rick... Fished 6 - 9:30 160 - 210 near braddocks... nice screen in the 165 range fish, bait, fish on bait.. Only had one knock off... on the wire with and NBK... Riggers down 70 - 90 .. I must be missing something to have that many fish on the screen and not get 'em to go..
  8. Nice catch jammer.... I was out there for a few hours in the morning. Had one knock off but couldn't get 'em goin'... not sure what the problem was.. runnin' riggers down 70 -90.. NBK's Glow Frogs and the like... Temp ran in the 55 - 57 range... Wire back 165 on #3... HELP ME !!!
  9. Wow... I've got the same hearing loss problem... especially when people call for position, depth, speed, and lure info... lol.. Good fishin'. See you on the water.
  10. Pike, It won't happen again.... got home that afternoon and signed him up. Where are you docked in the Bay? I'm at Mayer's. Spend most of my time in my little 18' Sylvan but it does the job most days. Other times we're out in Dad's 24' Wellcraft Coastal.
  11. It was tough out there. Started out inside looking for the brown bite. Marked some fish but couldn't get 'em to go. Picked up and ran out to 170 trolling north to 330. Dad learned a valuable lesson. Sign up for the derby!! He caught a 17+ lb laker. :x Other than that a couple of rainbows and lost a coho on the core. 3 for 4 for the day.
  12. Hey... You got a little wet?? I was out from about 7:30 to 10:30. Worked between the river & russel. Picked up when the rain started. Went 3 for 4 with two small kings and a decent coho. One king off the rigger down 65 on watermelon. The second king came off the dipsey #3 setting, 120 ft of wire on a green NBK. Coho came off the core 200 ft back on a green NBK. Missed the fourth one on the dipsey.
  13. Thanks guys... I'll check that brake as well...
  14. I have a cannon Mag10 that stalls on the way up and restarts all on its own. :x Motor's shot?? Anyone know where I can get it repaired? Cost? Thanks in advance for the info.
  15. Started out heading east from IBay in 15-20 with no takers. Ended up in 100 to 120 FOW working east. First rainbow came off the boards at 11:30 on an orange rapala out in front of the park. Continued east marking fish and a little bait. Second rainbow came off the rigger 16 down over 102 on the NBK. Third rainbow off the other board, again on an orange rapala. Fourth rainbow came off the rigger 25 down over 115. Three of the four about 7 lbs with one bow around 9 lbs. The kid got to do most of the work. Happy to finally hear the kid say, "..my arms gonna fall off..". 4 for 4 on the day, and rainbow for dinner. Frank http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn13 ... ainbow.jpg
  16. Welcome to my world Hans. Glad I'm not alone though. The Irondequoit Bay area continues to be a disappointment. How far back do you run off the boards and the riggers? I've been at about 100-125 on the boards and 60-75 on the riggers with a down speed target of 2.1. Frank
  17. I agree Bill, just good to have that kind of quality time with the 12 yr old. Frank
  18. Took the boy out for a two hour tour if front of the river last night. Only a few boats around. Ran orange and silver/black sticks, Green NBK, Watermelon, 5 of Diamonds, Golby Lure, and a couple others. Good temp and color. Lot's of debris. 0 for 2 on the evening both off the boards. Guess me and the kid were too busy talkin' it up to pay attention to the rods. All in all, a great night to be on the water, and a very enjoyable evening.
  19. Thanks for the info Hans.. Probably be out after work tonight. What channel will I find you on?
  20. Seems like nothing's changed this spring Hans. Goofy start this year with all the cold colorless water around. Hopin' to get out Monday or Tuesday PM with the kid. Did you take those fish on the same lure? Frank CDS Whip
  21. Boat Name: CDS Whip 24' Wellcraft Docked at Mayers Marina on Irondequoit Bay Weekends and an occassional evening run. Fish'n the LOC and the ProAm
  22. Mark, Made the same run to hedges on a late start yesterday. Threw it all at 'em. With not so much as a knock off. Worked 50 to 60 east marking a few fish here and there but no takers. Green water but no pea soup. The Irondequoit Bay basin continues to be a disappointment this spring. Me thinks it better to waste time runnin' to productive waters from now on rather than beating a dead horse. Tight Lines Frank CDS Whip
  23. I wish it was the fishin' that busted my back but I don't tink so. At least I wasn't at work... As for Rebel. I've been fishin' with him since we were kids. You'd think by now I woulda worked my way outa the #4 slot on the tournament paperwork. I'm still workin on that one. Jerry's a good friend and a great charter captain. Yes, I learned much of what I know from him and I'm thankful. Stories? Yeah we gotta bunch of 'em. But if I told you, I'd have to kill you.
