  1. Thanks for the replies folks. Think I'm going with 2 cannon tracks w/2 cannon dual axis ratcheting rod holders. Then 1 berts track w/swivel base for my 2nd downrigger, boat came w/1 berts track and base so I guess i'll match that existing setup on the other side. Good fishing all! LTtroller (Bob)
  2. Hi all, Just wondering the preferred track system for downrigger positioning as well as for rod holders? Also, was told I should go with ratcheting rod holders for the dipsey rods....true? Best brands for tracks and rod holders? Berts, Cannon or Traxtech? Likes vs Dis-likes of each? Any help appreciated! Thanks. LTtroller (Bob)
  3. Great fish Fred! I don't know if an old timer like you could manage a 20+ pounder.... you can't even hold your own 19 pounder..... . Seriously, congrats Fred, you deserve it. LtTroller (Bob)
  4. Cdgn troller, Thanks for the great report. Glad to hear Canandaigua can still produce some nice catches. Way to go! Going to give it a shot tommorrow a.m. I will post my results (if any). LTtroller (Bob)
  5. Just wondering why there have been so few reports from Canandaigua Lake this year. - Does it suck that bad that no one is fishing it for trout? - Is it that good that everyone is keeping quiet about it? - Or is it that those fishing aren't reporting? FLXTroutman & BlueGhost you guys still fishing there on occassion? Just curious. I used to fish it a lot but not for the last couple of years.I tend to head to the Big O when I get the chance to fish. I was thinking of heading back to Canandaigua early this week if anything has been happening there. Thanks for any input. LTtroller
  6. Nice job out there today. Did you check to make sure the guy from Colorado had a license? Glad you could put the guys on some fish, now maybe your neighbor will rig his boat for LO. Sounds like another "newbie" is hooked! See ya in the a.m. (unless your headed back to Sandy, lol). LTtroller (Bob)
  7. Thanks for all the replies. I dont know the names of the MS's that did most the damage out there, so here is a picture of them. LTtroller (Bob)
  8. Fishing was great off Sandy today. Went 13 for 14 with a good mix of fish. 1 coho, 1 laker, 2 browns,1 nice king (another 1 lost), and 8 steelies. Most fish were found in 150-155FOW. The Coho, Sthd and BT were in top 30' on orange colored stingers. The Laker and Kings hit the wire/dipseys out 275-300' on #3 settings. Ran 2 riggers w/ spoons, 2 wires, and 1 leadcore... leadcore did not move all day. Surface temps were all over the place, ranging from 63-69. Fished creek to park area. On the water about 6:30 - 11:00am. First hour did nothing, then 7:30 - 9:30 was hectic....could not keep 2 rods in the water , then just a few more till we called it quits. A few fleas out there but not that bad (yet!). Lots of floating debri in about 15FOW in front of creek so watch it. I attached a couple pics. My sons BT was a pig and his King was nice too. Good fishing to all! LTtroller (Bob)
  9. BT was just under 30", and yes a male with a hell of a kype. Terrible cell picture, but flying solo it was the quickest and easiest to ensure a quick & healthy release, No fleas present yet, but quit a lot of debris in the water from the recent heavy rains. Good Luck All! LTtroller (Bob)
  10. Even though reports have not been sounding very good, I decided to give Canandaigua Lake a try because the Big O's wave/wind report did not sound suitable for my 17' alum. boat. I did manage 2 LT, 1 the smallest I've ever caught about 6", and then my biggest Canandaigua BT ever.... a ~ 10lb fatty. I fished out of the north end. Mainly Pumphouse to just south of German Bros. The BT took a pink & blue MS behind a pink stripped flasher off the rigger down 30' over 90FOW, in a cloud of bait. 1 LT took a white mirage fly behind a white w/green dot, black halo SD out 240' on 3 setting. The other came on a sutton 35 (fish not much bigger than the lure, lmao) off the seth green rig. Fished 6:30am to about 11:00am, solo. LTtroller (Bob)
  11. After a frustrating spring getting the boat in order, I finally made my maiden voyage to the Big O this morning with a co-worker. We primarily ran 2 wire/dipsey/fly combos, 2 rigger rods with spoons, and 1 lead core down the chute. After a swing and a miss pretty much right off the bat, we trolled for about 1 1/2hrs without a twitch of the rods. We set up in 80 FOW and worked out to about 150'. I then decided to go back to where we had the 1st hit in about 85 FOW. Sure enough (duh) thats where we started to pick fish. We went 7 for 9 with 6 Lakers and 1 Coho. Not really what I wanted to catch, but fish and fun nonetheless. The hot set-up was wire out 220 on #3 setting with a white w/green dot & black halo SD (sorry idk name) and a white mirage fly. It took 5 of the LT. The coho took a 42nd spoon down 40'. All the fish came from 80-90 FOW. Marked a fair amount around 40-50' but could not get those fish to hit the riggers. Stayed mainly from mouth to pumphouse area. Surface speed was 2.4-2.7 when catching the fish. All and all a good morning. Started about 6:30am off at 11:30am. It was TOASTY out there. No wind to speak of, nor barely a ripple. Good luck too all this weekend! LTtroller (Bob)
  12. Way to go. Sounds like the fishin is good when the wind cooperates.
  13. Is Fat Nancy's in Oswego still open? Thanx.
  14. Hi Fathobbit0074, If you want to target lakers on the Finger Lakes with the leadcore setup add 16-22oz of lead weight to the end of the leadcore line and bounce bottom at 1.0-1.4mph. You can get down 150' + with that rig. Good luck!
  15. Hi Les. My kicker is a 5.5hp Johnson sea-horse, 1966 vintage. Gas is about 2 months old w/startron added to it. Hopefully it is just some bad gas. I will try some fresh, non-ethonal gas first and go from there. Enjoy your Thanksgiving! LTtroller (Bob)
  16. Did a final trip to the lake yesterday to give my stands and my a.. a break, and to winterize the boat. Nice morning on the lake while it lasted. Did 3 avg. sized lakers in just over an hour running the meat rig before my kicker started to act up . After running "flawlessly" to start, I turned it off to land what I thought was "the big one" (turned out to be a 21" wrapped up, being pulled in sideways ) Upon re-starting the kicker, it would run for 10-15 seconds then just cut out. IDK, probably a fuel issue, so I called it a season. Hopefully I will have it figured out by March. BTW- the new floating docks have been removed, but the handicap dock is still there and worked fine for my 17 footer. Also the channel was 1.9' deep at its shallowest point, most of it was about 2.3' deep. Good luck to everyone still on the water or out in the woods! LTtroller (Bob)
  17. Any pics? Riggers on it? Kicker? Need more info. Thanks! LTtroller (Bob)
  18. That is 1 excited crew! Great job guys Brian, you are the LT king. Good luck the rest of the derby. LTtroller (Bob)

  20. Too funny Fred. Haven't seen you at the launch. You been getting in on steelie action out of Sandy? Good stuff! LTtroller (Bob)
  21. Oh, is your trip to watch that terrible towel team practice tomorrow? I thought it was the following week after your weekend. Ya know ... there is still some room on the Bills bandwagon if you want to get on before it fills up . Pittsfords a lot closer than Pittsburgh to watch guys sweat! I will leave a few fish out in the lake for ya. Have fun! Bob
  22. Thanks for all the "thumbs up" guys. She had fun with it, know she wants the 30+ . Fishing Again ? , aren't you "suppossed" to be working? See ya tomorrow. LTtroller (Bob)

She got it! Not what she wanted at first (about a 5 lber ), but with some patience (on my part....she couldn't quite get the pump & reel down technique) but we finally got a decent 1, about 20lbs. She got it on a hammertime fly /SD combo on wire out 275' on #3 in 230fow. We had troubles landing steelies today with it being my 1st try using a free slider. Lost a beauty 10-13 lber after it jumped 10' behind the boat . My daughter ended the day with a nice 8# steelie on a chrome/green SD w/crinkle fly out 250' on #3 in 210fow but no pics . Overall, a good morning on the water . LTtroller (Bob)
