  1. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: LTtroller ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 5/24 Time on Water: 6:30 - 9:30am Weather/Temp: Sunny / 75 Wind Speed/Direction: Light / South then East Waves: 0 / Calm Surface Temp: 51 - 53F Location: Just west of mouth LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 2 Total Boated: 1 Species Breakdown: Steelhead Hot Lure: Michigan Stinger / Die Hard Trolling Speed: 2 -2.6 Down Speed: Good ? Boat Depth: 60 - 65ft Lure Depth: 50ft ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS First trip to the Big O in my 17' Tracker this year. Started off looking for browns in 12 - 25 FOW w/ boards out and rigger set 5' down - nothing. Could've guessed that with the gin clear water, sun shinning, and not a ripple on the water, but had to try. After 1.5hrs. of wasting time & gas, decided to try for some of the "hot" laker action I heard was going on the past few days. Set up in 60 FOW w/2 wire/flasher/fly combos & 2 riggers - 1 @ 55', the other @ 50'. Worked the 60 - 80' range w/ good marks here and there, most on bottom (lakers). Finally about 8:30am, over 65FOW the 50' rigger pops. My son grabs the rod and the fish is taking a little line, then nothing, he says its off - NOPE, just swimming at us. He lands a decent 7-8lb. steelie. We reset and shortly thereafter over 60FOW, the same rigger and lure fires. I grab the rod and notice the line is going stright down, but the fish is ripping line. I realize now that the line is wrapped around the rigger cable . I start to bring up the ball and untangle the line when I hear the fish splashing behind the boat on the surface, so I start getting nervous and begin to work a little faster, just about the time I get the ball almost surfaced to where I can get the line over the ball, I look up to see a BIG & BEAUTIFUL steelie about 8' out of the water, waving goodbye and thanks for the brand new lure. That's fishing! Packed up and headed to Gander for the last 2 Stinger Die Hards on the shelf (sorry guys, ). LTtroller Bob ====================
  2. Hey Mike. I had the same results at the north end last week . It can only get better from here. If your looking for a couple of extra lines, and some gas money, give me a shout some time. Or I can teach you how to run the Seth Green rig in my boat. Take care. LTtroller (Bob)
  3. Hey Fred. Nice to see you out enjoying retirement and not working all the time. You, me and Brian should hook-up sometime this season. I'm sure an old fella (I mean experienced fisherman) could teach us youngsters a trick or 2. Good luck out there. LTtroller (Bob)
  4. Sorry guys, failed to mention I was at the north end of the lake. Also that I fished from 7:30 am until just before 10am, less than 2 & 1/2 hrs. That's how good a morning it was, unfortunately I couldn't stick it out any longer with my bad hip acting up. BlueGhost hope you feel better and get out after them soon, tis the season. FLXTroutman sorry I didn't get a chance to say hi, I could hear you with BlueGhosts' father but you were breaking up on my crappy handheld and I didn't realize it was you. I'm sure you did well anyhow. Thank you all for your well wishes. Take care. LTtroller Bob
  5. Hi all. Made my 1st, and last, trip to Canandaigua this fall. A great morning! Overcast, slight south breeze, surface temp 55, and co-operative lakers. Was 8 for 8 with all lakers. Ranged in length from 20" - 25". Most on bottom in 112-127 FOW. Sutton 71, 38, & 44's did the trick on the meat rig. Good marks 80 -90 down , but didn't get anything there. Nice talking to you Blue Ghost, hope you continued your "pick". Boat winterized and off to hip surgery Friday. No more fishing nor hunting this fall. Good luck to you all on the water and in the woods this fall. Take care. LTtroller (Bob)
  6. Congrats Todd! Now you are gonna be up early changing diapers, not lures. Take care. LTtroller (Bob)
  7. No I have not fished for bullheads there in the spring. I have heard the same about the "hot" action, but bullheads are not my game. I hear the action is best after a warm rain and then fish the end of the lake that the wind is blowing towards. Good luck and have fun with them! LTtroller
  8. Hi Scramp. I live around the corner from the launch and took a ride down there this weekend. Noone at the launch and saw noone on the water. If you are thinking about launching, bring a rake for all the shizit at the ramp, a lot of debris. Also no docks in yet. A bit early. Good luck if you go! LTtroller
  9. Opted for the water over the woods. Think it was a mistake. Cold, windy & choppy! Got 2 LT's on the wire rod. White e-chip w/ white mirage fly out 180' on #3 over 80-90FOW at the north end. Ran the wires for 2 hours before switching over to the seth green which fired almost immediately with a sutton 38 in 115 FOW. Then the north wind kicked up :x and I called it a morning. Well got a few fish, and the 2 guys "moving in" on my hunting area didn't shoot anything . So I guess the morning wasn't a loss. Have a good Sunday all. GO BILLS! LTtroller Bob
  10. Thanks Blueghost1. Hoping to get out late this week for a final LT trip. LTtroller Bob
  11. Another good day Blueghost1, nice job! Hope to try again myself 1 more time before I start to get "serious" , , about deer hunting. Same neighborhood and program as previous trip? LTtroller Bob
  12. Nice talking to you out there Blueghost1. Sorry the 2nd time my batteries were dying. Ended up 2 for 6 Not sure what the problem was today landing fish. O'well that's fishing! Got 2 avg. sized lakers on Sutton 71 on seth green rig. Lost 1 "good one" on the bottom leader and lost a nice smalley at the boat. Fished the rig in 100 - 130 fow. Last 1/2 hour ran the flasher/flies and had 1 on in the first 5 min. Out 160' on the 3 setting in 80 fow. Clear prism flasher w/black & silver fly (son made). Fought good, but never saw it. Had another fish hit in the same neighborhood on the same rod just before calling it quits. Turns out I probably should have spent more time with the wire rods in 75-100 fow instead of the seth green rig out in the 100 - 130 fow area. Had better screens in the shallower water, and from the sounds of it Blueghost1 had a good day in there  A triple - nice job! Nice morning on the water once the fog burned/blew off. Sunny, with a slight chop from the south. Surface temp was 59. Good luck fishing to all! LTtroller Bob
  13. Hi Blueghost1. I think I am going to go in the morning with my son for a few hours. I am in a Tracker Deep V17. I'll try you on 68 once we get going and have something to report, or if were looking for help . I just have a cheapy hand held so I'll need to be within range 1-2 miles. Generally fish pumphouse to German Bros. mid-lake area. Good luck! LTtroller Bob
  14. Hi Mike. Started with 5 leaders then went to bottom 2 when it was evident the bottom was the only one working. Generally I don't get the suspended fish, but on occassion I do, so when I marked fish in the 60 -70' range I bring the rig up off the bottom and hope to get lucky I only run 1 rod. I have tried 2 in the past and believe it or not it does not produce anymore fish than just 1. Plus, when running just 1 rod I can make quicker turns and "work" the bottom more effectively. Good luck Georged. It should be good from now till the snow flies. Let us know how you made out Saturday. I'm sure the "derby boys" on Sunday would like to have a heads up. GO FLXTroutman & Fireplug! I gotta root for someone tomorrow the Bills aren't playing. LTtroller Bob
  15. Hi all. Got out this a.m. for a few hours. Went 7 for 7 on the "meat rig". All LT, and all on the bottom leader in various depths 100 - 135'. Sutton 71 did the job. Sizes ranged from 17" -25". For you flasher/fly/dipsy trollers and rigger runners, I consistantly marked fish in the 60-70' range. Ran out of time before I could give the wire a try. Then again, the Seth Green rig was doing fine. Beautiful morning on the lake! Good luck to those fishing the derby this weekend (if it happens). If not, enjoy the fine weekend weather and be glad your not stuck at work like me. LTtroller Bob
  16. Yes, nice fall day to be out. Fall colors are getting good. FLXTroutman has a sweet ride. Nice to finally meet FLXTroutman & Fireplug - good guys and know what their doing. Fish were a bonus - plus I didn't get the "copper" fish! Take care guys and I'll give you a shout when I run "the rig" at the north end. LTtroller Bob
  17. Hi ncallahan03. Sorry I'm out. That is my weekend to work. Maybe next time. Hope you can get some intrest, it sounds like a good time and the fishing should be good as well. Maybe I'll see you out there in the coming weeks. I'm in a Tracker Deep V17. Usually run a seth green rig mid-lake at north end, pump house to german bros. area. Good fishing to all! LTtroller Bob
  18. Hi guys. Sounds like it could be fun. Let me know when you are thinking as I would be interested as well. Seth Green rigs only? LTtroller Bob
  19. Hi. Not 100% positive, but I think I was told when I purchased mine (about a year ago) that if the collar was ever lost, broken, etc... to call them and they would replace it at no charge. Worth a call. Good luck! LTtroller Bob
  20. Hi Doozer. A "screamer". Are there kings in Canandaigua Lake now? Just kidding! Looks like you had a good day. It's always a nice bonus to catch a smallie. Nice job and good report. Thanks! Any pics? LTtroller Bob
  21. HIi FLXTroutman. Off brand cheap O's. Guess we got what we payed for. We think the problem was the ring at the end was not a welded ring, but a split ring that was "ripped" open - that fish hit hard, even destroying the snubber  We were thinking of going with the Sampos' which I believe are a solid, welded ring unless someone has a better and/or cheaper brand. Let us know. Been out @ Canandaigua since vacation? Buddy did a quick boat check there yesterday and fished for an hour getting 1 - 22" Laker with the meat rig in 120 fow at the north end. Octobers coming! LTtroller (Bob)
  22. Thanks for the trip BT. Couple of nice fish and of course "the one that got away" - damn swivels! :x I posted 2 pics of your "derby fish" you caught with my son and will bring the rest to work on the cameras memory card. Boy did you get screwed with that fish - tied for 10th & you get the 11th spot = $100 vs $200, and then no big fish of the day on the last day of the derby = another $100 lost. O'well at least you have your name on the leader board. Just fame, no fortune! See ya. LTtroller Bob
  23. Here are the pics of your #10/11 place LOC king. See even the little boats can cash in, and on the last day no less. Congrats again! LTtroller Bob
  24. Yea it's amazing how fast people (even state workers) can move for a rod and a chance at a few $. LTtroller Bob
