  1. Congrats on a trophy of a lifetime! You may have only fished an hour but what about all the previous fishless hours? . You earned it. No musky is nicer looking than a st lawrence ski, just awesome buddy. Sent from my GT-P5113 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. I think it could be a pike but not typical markings for one. Thats a toughy it could be a tiger too but if I had to guess , id say pike. Also maybe a norlunge. Dont hear much about them anymore Sent from my GT-P5113 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. Awesome info. Thanks much. What size spin n glow? They come in 4 sizes..
  4. Thanks buddy. Maybe a flatfish or quickfish might work if going that slow too. Its crazy that setup works and doesnt scare away everything within 10 miles. LOL Will def give it a try. Im getting tired of the Salmon thing this year and I like lakers anyways.
  5. Yes how do you rig a spin n glow? I get the 30" behind the cowbells but then what? Also are there different size spin n glows that work best? Thanks
  6. Can someone give me a clue as to what size/colors to use of the spin n glow and peanuts to use on cowbells? (WTF are peanuts-small salmon flys?) Thanks
  7. I must admit I dont know squat about cowbells and spin n glows or peanut flys. For starters what is a good cowbell setup to get? What size? Thanks
  8. I guess Im going to have to sharpen my Laker skills too as the Salmon fishing for me this year sucks. They fight a whole lot better than people give them credit for, I have no problem with them. My question is now that I have 20 and 30 lb test Flea flicker and Sea Flea line (otherwise it is not fishable with all the fleas lately) on my reels and isnt that going to scare them away? I usually use light line, flouro tactics in my bass and freshwater fishing but with the fleas as bad as they are there really isnt a choice. Using regular big game, I had to put the rods down as they were unfishable, couldnt get line past tip plus Im not screwing around all day with fleas. So anyways my question is how to make this "anchor rope" stealthy. I was thinking of using a flouro leader on a tiny barrel swivel?? Anyone tried this? Not sure if a back to back uni knot would work with 30 lb. test and BTW the sea flea line got 0 fleas yesterday but also no fish.
  9. Yes in my opinion, barometric pressure is one of the most or the very most important factors in fishing and the high barometer is the worst (over 30.2) Rarely is fishing great or even good with a high barometer but they can still be caught especially with a new or full moon. Under 30 seems best, I have tracked baro pressure for years in my log and there is absolutely no doubt. High barometer sucks.
  10. What is the best release to use off the ball for Salmon/trout in the Off Shore line (pinch pads)? Heavy or medium? Thanks BTW The Blood run sea flea line is so slippery, I couldnt keep it in the release today but there were no fleas on it, none.
  11. I bought the Cabelas 8' med action DR rod. Nice feel, light and nice reel seat. Alum oxide guides and a nice price.
  12. Insufishent, How are you connecting the 2 ? back to back uni knot or barrel swivel or other? This is what I will have to do without 20# FF available. Thanks
  13. Was out the other day and the braid and 20 lb mono was unfishable. So many fleas couldnt get the lure back in without cleaning off first. Had no choice but to pull them. Wire was fishable some fleas but not too bad, flea flicker 20 lb line did not have a speck on it. The stuff works pure and simple. I guess I'll have to cave and get the blood run in 30 but to me 30 is like anchor rope;.
  14. Chinook, you mean the 7'3" light action uglys? I have 1 and it is very nice but def. light.
  15. Yes finally I had enough. Scraped them and will use a dipsey in place but tried today with braid and was unfishable there were so many fleas. I cant believe they stopped making flea flicker line. What a joke.
  16. Have no idea why Shakespeare doesnt make a medium action DR rod in 8'. Personally I feel 7' is too short but thanks for the input.
  17. I need to get a new DR rod. I like 8 foot. Any recommendations? I like the Ugly stik 8'3" DR rod but it only comes in light action. Also considering the Talora by Shimano and the glass cheapies from eagle claw, okuma, and TDR Shimano. Anyone like anything special for DRiggers? Thanks BP
  18. How are those different than jet divers? They look the same.??
  19. Nice going guys. Cherish your time together, Doesn't get any better than that... Dad and a 50.
  20. I dont see a lot of anglers chiming in on how good jet divers are. Im sure they work at times but Im wondering if I should convert that rod to a dipsey now.
  21. I like the idea of the Torpedo divers but not sure if they work. At that price they should. How do they work for you?
  22. Larson I am referring to jet divers not dipsies. 2 different items. I have no problem with dipsies (usually).
  23. They only have 30 lb spools at BE and I am not sure why Cortland has it on their site as they dont sell it there anyway.
  24. Seems like they would, I must be doing something wrong then. Tried them many times but nothing ever hits them.
