  1. Vertical Rod Tree Help - Thank you Going to purchase some new vertical rod tree this year. Going to mount them in some burt’s tracks and planning on removing them when docking. I have reviewed a lot of different companies and wanted some opinions on pro’s and con’s about a particular unit. Looking for entry level tree’s. Fishing out of a 16 foot smoker craft, tiller and running in-line boards. Have reviewed Greatlakes Planners, Traxes, Burt’s, Cannon, High Sea’s and Mad Locks. If I could afford it I would get the Geartlakes Planners but I am also getting a Fishhawk this year as I am tired of fishing blind in the dead of summer. Leaning towards High Sea’s or Mad Locks pro’s and con’s please and is there another company that I have not mentioned? Fishbowl836
  2. Also live near Lansing NY any chance in could look at the boards? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  3. How tall is the mast? And what is the bolt pattern for the mast mount? Can the mast be reconfigured for a seat mount. I have a 16' smokercraft with open bow that I have been thinking about mounting mast in the front seat area. Currently using in line boards. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  4. This past Monday we ran #1 Dipsey's with flasher/fly combos and we also played with Michigan stinger spoons with 8 foot florocarbon leads off the Dipsey's. The spoons worked very well. Ran Dipsey's on #2 setting 175 to 275 and caught quite a few rainbows and LL salmon. Hope this helps. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  5. Is this still available? Would be interested. Just bent mine yesterday because it did not come up all the way for some reason when running to port. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  6. Are these still available? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  7. Thank you for all the input. I do understand what you're saying. This past weekend I got caught on Cayuga Lake with some strong Northwinds that quickly changed into some very large waves. Made it back to the marina OK but it was not a very comfortable ride. I guess it's like anything I'm just going to have to put in my time on the big lake. Thanks again. 8. Small boat owner and was wondering how far out do you have to go. Have Dipsy's and downrigger's for the Finger Lakes fishing and wanted to give the big lake a try on a south wind. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  9. Congratulations Kade!!! Job well done. It was nice talking to you and your dad this afternoon. Wayne Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  10. Is that a pro mag? What is the year of the boat? What is the year of the motor and how many hours on the motor?
  11. Are these still available? Will be in Syracuse area this coming Tuesday or Wednesday.
  12. That's unbelievable, I thought the same thing. I thought the pro status was for charter boat captains only. This is a great website and I would definitely be willing to spend $20 a year to keep it going. It's a great website for new people like myself and for the most part everyone on here is very helpful and friendly. Keep up the good work.
  13. Whoops, first time I've ever attached photos. First photo was done twice by accident.
  14. Launch out of Myers at 5:30 and headed north toward AES. Water temperatures were between 46° and 52°. Went 21 for 24 with one nice brown and three nice salmon. All other fish were small cookie cutter salmon ranging from 14 to 17 inches. All fish caught on sticks running in-line boards and one and three color leadcore rigs. Not bad for five hours worth of fishing.
  15. Launched out of Treman at 9:30. Looking forward to trying out my new Walleye boards and some new Bay Rats. Went 17 for 19 with two nice browns and the rest were small salmon. All fish came on stick baits. Water temperature was between 46 and 50° with good color long the east shore. One question for everyone, I lost two fish today because the back end of the stick bait broke. The rear section of the stick bait actually split when the fish hit and then suddenly the fish came off. Retrieved the lure and the stick bait was split in the rear and the rear hook was missing. Are these just bad lures being made overseas or is there something I could be doing wrong?
  16. FYI was up to the break wall at Fair Haven today fishing from the pier and the water temperature was 40°.
  17. Thinking about bringing my kayak (Hobie Pro Angler) up to Fairhaven to fish for browns. Can you launch a kayak from West Barrier Bar?
  18. Was out today checking temps, along the east shore it is around 42° and up near the white light house on the south end we did fine 44° water. Not many boats out still pretty slow.
  19. Stopped by and checked the launch on March 17th and it appears that the stump has been removed. Lake levels are starting to come up. Now if we could only get a little warm weather.
  20. Does anyone know when they will start closing the locks to allow the lake level to come up? Is it weather driven or is it just a date on the calendar?
  21. Rollie, you might be able to but right now I am not sure you could get your boat in the navigational channel. It is only about 2 to maybe 2 1/2 feet deep at present lake level.
  22. Just a heads up for everyone launching a boat out of Myers Point on Cayuga Lake. Currently the lake level is low enough you can see a log that is located in the middle of the channel. This log is currently visible because the lake level is low but in about two or three weeks it will not be and the log will still be in place. It is big enough and right in the middle of the channel that it could very easily be hit and do some serious damage going out or coming in from the lake. A good land mark for the log is it is located adjacent to the first light pole located on the north side of the channel as you are going out into the lake. Hopefully this helps everyone and it will be removed soon, but if not be very careful navigating the channel.
  23. Started fishing with Lead Core last year with some success late in the season. This year I am going to run it starting in the spring trying different setups (2, 3, 5, 7 and 10 color using in – line Church Boards). So could you please give me your opinions on the following lead core setups? As always thank you for your time and input. What pound test and what length leads do you run at the end of the lead core? Currently running 50 feet of 12 Lbs. Big Game. Mono or Fluorocarbon? #10 Spro or what knot to connect lead core to backing which is braid or lead core to lead? I am assuming the length of the lead will change lure action. What length lead do you use and why? How do you connect these setups to your in – line boards? Currently modified my two TX-44 boards per the “Bloodrun†suggestion and connect the backing (braid) to the board by twisting the braid on the stainless steel pin. Have four new Walleye Boards to use this year. Does anyone know if these boards can be modified the same way as the TX-44 boards? Remember the Walleye Boards are not switchable. The plastic pin that I would replace with stainless steel only connects at the top of the board. If not do you use the “Lock Jaw, new mini Lock Jaw or rubber bands to connect the in-line boards? Thank you.
