  1. My dad went out last night for an hour. He pulled a brown 40 down over 70 FOW on an alpeena diamond (blue/green) on the east side just north of Wells college.
  2. How 'bout a seasick waddler made by NK....I checked their site but can't find it.
  3. When I found this forum (and went out on another boat for some recon) I learned about cheaters. Obviously, this is a much better way to run this rig because the 2 poles I used to "stack" I can now use for wires, top lines, sliders, etc. One thing I did once was run a cheater with a flasher/fly on the bottom....DUMB. When I reeled in they were all twisted. But it is pretty fun when the cheater releases and takes up the slack in the line. I am definitly going to have to try the rubber bands.
  4. I'm a little jealous of your time on the water! Glad someone is getting out there! Keep the reports coming!
  5. Sean, Nice report! I love fishing that lake, but haven't made it over there this year yet. I have a friend getting a boat set-up who lives on the west side a couple miles north of Dean's. I'll have to get out there with him soon. Was the Brown out that deep? -Jason
  6. Went out Sat. Am as I had a Men's breakfast to go to at the Belhurst Castle. Trolled my east side early in the skinny only to take 1 Smallie and 1 Pike...learning to dislike these fish as they cost me stickbaits! Moved out to 140 FOW and put down the Mtn. Dew Spin Dr and Glow Green G-fly that produced all spring down 5 ft off the bottom and a Blue Dolphin NK 28 down 40 on the other side. Blue/Green Alpeena on one Board and A Red stinger off the other (Hoping for a rainbow but it didn't fire all morning). The North troll did nothing. Varied speed from 1.9 to 2.7. Ended up by the Belhurst Hole and flipped south to fire a double at the NW Corner of the Hole in 40 FOW. (Alpeena and NK Blue Dolphin) Set up after Breakfast and came south over the same point picked up another on the NK. Flip North......nothing. I decided to change up the Spinny/Fly to a NK Watermelon. I got 20 ft behind the boat and the other rigger fires (NK Blue Dolphin) as I'm reeling the Alpeena fires (Now on a dipsey)...so my buddy Josh grabs that. As we're reeling, a fish hits the Watermelon spoon on the surface right behind the boat! What a blast! Finished 11/13 before lunch. I got some pics on the Cam...I'll try and upload later.
  7. We had a good time out there! I got to say I laughed pretty hard when I saw Mark's post! You don't think about visitors trying to figure out all the Indian names around here. I went out once with Hans (Upgrady) out of I-Bay so this was only my second time out from here, but the posts from this forum gave us a good place to start. Set-up NW out of the channel in 70 fow and trolled North to 220 b/c of the Sandy posts (180-220). We marked a lot from 70-100 but nothing out deep so we pulled in and set-up in 120 on a South troll about dusk.....this is where our 4 releases came. All on NK Mag Spoons and 3 were a Pink/Silver/Black pattern (don't know the name). Rigger was down 40 and this spoon was on a cheater. The big jumper Mark mentioned ws off the planer with 4 splitshot 100 ft back. I'm using Cannon pinch-style releases and I think I may need the Blacks style because I do seem to get a lot of Hit-n-Runs. Mark's here till Friday....If anyone's going out in the evenings take him out....He's a good dude.
  8. Use a heavy white Bucktail Jig and hook half a sawbelly. Let it drop to the bottom and reel up about two feet and jig. Trout will hook themselves.
  9. That would be great. I started fishing up there last year. I only picked up one king last year, but I did pretty good on the browns in about 30-40 FOW in front of the trailer park to the west of the channel. Alpeena diamonds were smokin hot out there about 10 foot off the bottom. It seemed last year every Sat. had hard North winds so it was pretty bumpy. I picked up a probe unit, so hopefully I will find those Kings! (As soon as I learn how to use it!)
  10. I haven't seen anyone posting about Sodus. Is anyone fishing out there? I was thinking of trailering the boat up there maybe Sunday afternoon. It sounds like the I-Bay bite is turning on, hopefully this is working it's way east.
  11. I just got my Cannon S-n-T I lose my probe at 70 Ft Down. I guess I have to throw the coated wire on. I copied the stainless plate idea shown on this forum with the bullet connector. My question for the Cannon guys is how do you remove the antanna? I thought about cutting the wire and adding connectors, but I'm not sure what I'm dealing with. Is it COAX? just 1 wire? I have Mag 10's with Gimbal mounts and want to be able to remove my riggers.
  12. I'll be out in Vancouver WA from the 17th to the 21st and would be happy to trade seats. I just started fishing Lake Ontario last year so you wouldn't "hook up" as much as a charter, but you're welcome to jump aboard to split some gas $.
  13. My 525c DF came Friday afternoon (just in time to get it installed for the Derby. from a guy that had been using a $150 Wal-mart special, this is amazing! It came pre-loaded with a map that helped me a lot on Seneca (there's a lot of shelves and I have a lot to lose with my S-n-T probe on the cable). Also, when fishing an area where you don't care to see the GPS, I like the split frequency screen. Shows my balls on the 50 khz side and the definition on the 200 khz side. The features are endless on this unit...I'm still learning, but I like the customizable digital display on side while viewing sonar as well. I had all my GPS info without the map like my speed, heading, waypoint reference, and surface temp. Did i mention this unit is awesome! Definatley happy with my purchase. I have it right behind my steering wheel, If you are mounting this unit a ways away, you may want to consider stepping up to the LCX27. It's basically the same unit with a bigger screen(7") and twice the power (8000 watts) for $300 more.
  14. We started in 15 FOW on High Banks and trolled south past Reeders Creek. At the creek a pink stick bait popped off and I look behind the boat to see some nice acrobatics. The old man takes the pole and gets him have way to the boat before his lips popped off! We caught about a dozen pike over the weekend in close like this. They smoked a few lures. We edged out and worked 80-100 FOW and were busy with Green Spindoctors and Green Flys and Green Dolphin Spoons. Biggest Monday was 6 lbs. I think we finished Monday 7/9 My 5.12 Landlock got edged off the board with a 5.19......guess I shoulda weighed it right away instead off letting it ride in the cooler. Nice job Mongo on the Brown! Congrats to everyone who made the board! what's next? Summer LOC I guess.
  15. Well, looking at the list above  I see I slipped to last place on the Landlock. Here's hoping for better fish tomorrow. Maybe I'll have to motor south and drop in Pegasus' wake and spy out Ray's hot spots
  16. I was 1st on Sat. with a 5.12 Landlock that came off the boards around 9:00 in 15 FOW on a Orangish Yo-Zuri stickbait. Pulled a couple 3 lb Browns and biggest laker has been 7 1/2 I was pulling some heftty lakers in a couple weeks ago...where are they now? today was tough. Got on the lake at 1:00 and was about 5/8 all lakers (biggest 5 1/2 lbs) Good luck Ray and Erabbit on the board. Hit me up on 68. Maybe I'll see ya at the ceremony.
  17. I wish every one in the derby good luck and tight lines tomorrow! May you come in second! Worked on the boat all day installing the new Lowrance 525 DF and Cannon S-n-T. Hit me up on 68. Boat name Zebedee (21 ft gray and white Renken).
  18. Thanks for the heads up. I ordered this unit and they are shipping it overnight. I hope to get it on the boat for the Lake Trout derby on Seneca this weekend. I also bellied up for the Cannon S-n-T....Expensive weekend!
  19. I'm in the market for a fish finder w/ GPS. Which card is best for the fingerlakes? Specifically Seneca and Cayuga? It would be nice to see points and shelves and be able to run the ball near ledges. Has anyone been impressed with a certain package? Also, is there a card that shows Fingerlakes and Ontario?
  20. I could never figure out why I don't seem to have more of a variation. I run 2 Mag 10's off the back and if I have an extra 5 ft of line out (beyond my fishfinder depth reading), my balls bounce. I run about a 25 deg angle....I'm no trig expert but I thought the difference would have been more than that. Speed-n-temp....I've never run one but I've been on a boat with a Fishhawk. What seems to be the best? I gather from most of the posts that Moor Sub-troll 900 seems to be most popular. I was talking to a kid at BPS and he said the Canon S-n-T also reports light at the ball....I thought that was kind of interesting. I haven't heard too many reports on that, but I imagine that would affect color selection.
  21. I haven't even been over there yet this year.....has anyone fished the North end at all?
  22. I'll be out of Seneca Lake state park. Channel 68 either on my boat (Zebedee) or my old man's (A-Bow-time). I thought about making one of those promises as my wife informed me that she took the kids to the park and as they were driving by the marina my 3 yr old daughter asked "Is that where Daddy lives?".....OUCH!
  23. Went out last night. 9/11 biggest was 7 1/2 pounds Most came on Mtn Dew spin DR/Green G-fly, Dipseys fired on a NK 28 Blue Dolphin and a Blue and Green Alpeena Diamond. Depths were a little deeper 120 to 140 fish on the bottom.
