  1. The latter is true...I would put them in for the big money!...Good Luck!
  2. Nice Job...I talked to Frank quite a bit on the radio last year on Seneca...Is he going to be in the Seneca Lake trout derby next weekend?
  3. My dad and I will be fishing on his Wellcraft Martinique 2600 Those white seats are going to look nice with Bloody slime! He has a slip at Seneca Lake state park #55 We'll be on 68
  4. I was going to be fishing out of the 14 footer w/ the tiller but after a couple runs the old man got a little sore so I talked him into putting some fishing equipment on his Wellcraft Martinique...He has 2 gimbal style flush-mount holders that will hold the Mag 10's but he won't let me put any more holes in his boat. I loaded the mag 10's with 4 pole holders so we'll be the boat with 2 porcupines sticking out the sides! This weekend we need to figure out how to mount my planer reels to his bow rails and wire up the Speed-n Temp unit. We'll monitor 68...His boat name is "About time" Although the back still has the former owner's name "Robin's Pride"
  5. Nice...Finally fishing the way I'm used to! Great report! It's good to see you were able to sneek out...How's the little one doing? I was on the Big pond trying to scare up a big brown for the LOC...We lost a big one at the back of the boat last weekend...other than that we caught a lot of cookie-cutter browns (football shaped 2-3 lbers)...Biggest fish in the boat was 7.5 lbs. I'm looking forward to getting back to Seneca! 2 weeks till derby time!
  6. There is a free launch at the north end on Rtes 5 & 20 at the Chamber of Commerce but it can tend to get washed in. So for a safe launch I like Seneca Lake State Park...$7 it is just east of the Chamber on Rte.s 5&20 as well. For jigs, there is a square brick building on the east shore they call the "Pumphouse"...set up in front of that where you mark fish.
  7. Awesome post! Hopefully another fishermen hooked for life! Great job
  8. Ventured out into the gentle breeze aboard Bretter's "Little Brown" with him and his buddy Tom this morning. After we got set up right at dawn, we made our first turn to swing back into the cove and the outside Planer Rod fired (J9 Firetiger 18 FOW)...I grabbed the rod and played him for about 7 min as he would try and pass the boat under our Starboard board (Tom had to gas the boat a couple times to stay in front of him). He wouldn't take line...but he wouldn't let me take any either! Finally he turns toward us and I reel as fast as I can to keep him tight. We see the flash and Brett gets the net about a foot above the water when he jumps about 3 ft in the air shaking the hook and waving good-bye. He looked like a realy nice fish...but don't all the one's that get away! After we quit crying (Ok we really haven't stopped) we get set up and Brett hooks into a monster off the other planer (In reality, no one else would grab the rod!)..Here's a pic of him playing it. We held him at the back of the boat as we called the weigh station to see if he would qualify for the daily $100 prize(see pic) After we realized they don't have a dump-duck division this year We through a shirt over him, unhooked him, and set him free (You can just see him in the center of the pick flying a touch crooked!) Thought about sliding out to deeper water after about four more passes through the cove, but the big pond was putting too much of a beating on team "Little Brown" Good luck & tight lines to all!
  9. Sorry forgot the lures...First double was a NK28 Green Dolphin (lost it on way to boat) and the second was a NK28 NBK Second Double was the NK28 Green Dolphin again and a Mnt dew Flasher/Green G-Fly....Everything suspended 120-140 over 140-170 Like Ray says...Anything Green in that lake is a producer.
  10. I got out with Jeremy CeCe last night...what a night to be out on the lake! My dad was supposed to meet us at the dock but decided to fall through a porch roof instead! I imagine he's hurtin a little today! The bite started off sluggish...we had two on 120/140 as we were checking lines...Jeremy got Attention Deficit Disorder and stopped reeling as the fish was about 100 feet behind the boat to start talking about the Dipsey rod when he shook loose and said good-bye with a flip of his tail! The other was about 4 1/2 pounds Not long after we hooked up with a double and pulled two @ 6 1/2 pounds. Shortly after we had a release with nobody home to finish off the night at 3/5. Brought the 3 home as my mother-in-law told me she's been buying trout at wegmans. Cut all 3 open and they were all full of sawbellies.
  11. Had a great time Brett! Thanks for getting me out! It was a blast watching your dad AKA "BIGSTUD" reel in that fish and share the wisdom of his years!
  12. Powerfull story! Thanks for sharing...puts things in perspective!
  13. Congratulations! Once they stick the epidural, you should be good for a quick trip! She'll never know! When my first daughter was born I got the call with shotgun in hand during deer season.
  14. Great to hear Brett's boat hit the water! I can't wait to get out! Sounds like the Kings made their way up the lake early this year!
  15. My girls have been asking me to take them fishing so now that we've had slightly warmer weather, I took the opportunity yesterday. I was goin to launch in Montezuma and cruise up toward the thruway for some Crappies but I forgot there isn't a dock at the launch and din't want to try and load the kids at the rocks. So over to the State park and we motored North to try along the railroad bridge. We had a good time playing with worms and reeling in bobbers....but no fish. They had a blast though and are already asking when we can go again.
  16. Got out with my Dad last night for a short cruise. Thanks to Blue-Ghost we had a better place to start...I just had know idea lakers were so deep this time of year! We started a south troll from just north of the Belhurst and crossed to the west side to go 3/6 over 160-190 and riggers were down 100-140. All 3 fish came on Mnt Dew Spin Dr/Green g-fly and a NK28 Blue Dolphin. Finally the Seneca Skunk of 09 is off the boat! I kept the fish with the spoon in his mouth for the fryer!
  17. Nice report! Great to hear there are some fish at the North end...I was starting to wonder! This should be a great week for getting out.
  18. I never knew about the "two rod" rule until about 3 years ago. I was out with my dad on a south-troll in front of Wells College on a nice summer night. The sun was on the horizon and who do I see coming up behind us? Mr Deter and his mate in the Park Police Boat. He overtook us on the Port side with his binoculars in hand, crossed over in front to the starboard side and dropped back next to us to give the "Pull your lines in" command. We had both riggers stacked and a dipsey off the side. He proceeded to explain that we were only allowed 2 a pc as I scolded my Dad for having HIS 3rd line in the water. That didn't work too well though as he wrote us BOTH a ticket! I guess I need to start reading that short novel they hand out with the licenses!
  19. This time of year I have done well off the point North of Deans Cove. There is a house with a lawn about the size of a football field...straight out from that in about 90 FOW is good all year round. It drops off deeper there and that is the northern-most part of the lake that is deep. North of that point is all shallow (40 Fow Max or there about). Straight across from Deans Cove there is a cove in front of Wells College...the North end of that cove is great for Browns and the South end has some nice holes/ledges for lakers. Hope this helps!
  20. I invested in the Cannon S-n-T last year and was amazed at what I saw. I tried it out during the fishing derby on Seneca (Memorial day weekend) and Saturday and Sunday I did not see much variation from my GPS (Both ran a touch faster than my speed wheel). On Monday however, On a south troll I would have to do about 3.8 GPS to get 2.5 at the ball. Then when I flipped North I had to back down to 1.5 GPS (I'm sure numbers from my memory aren't exact but there was a significant difference). In the past I always looked at GPS and tried to hold between 2-2.5 but would notice I usually only picked up fish in one direction.
