  1. if i left mexico point and went east, i would go back in the launch?. thanks anyways, get that gps looked at, its gonna get you in trouble.LOL
  2. thanks, it is the high rocks, just wasn't sure exactly where they were.
  3. I was told to go to the rocks , somewhere south of mexico point? anybody know where that might be? thanks.
  4. leadcore,i have down riggers and use bottom bouncers and planer boards .but by far (for me)i catch more using leadcore straight off the back.
  5. not sure how far you want to go ,but at buoy 119 infront of lake port state launch they are killing the walleyes with jigs.i troll for them ,but could not resist the jigging action sunday.black or black and purple jigs with a short piece of worm is the ticket.just south and west of 125 was good also .friday we limited 6 in the 18 inch range in few hours, saturday was unreal 6 in less then an hour ,both days trolling leadcore line with black and silver rapalas .sunday we brought the kids jigging,it took a little longer but they were definitely on. you cant miss 119 looks like a boat parking lot.
  6. i fish walleye on oneida religiously,LOL .they are a finicky fish at times.even with all the right lures they sometimes dont want to play.i mostly troll for them but will jig occasionally ,and throw raps and others at night in the spring and fall.you dont have to spend a fortune on this that and the other thing. a jig with a worm off the hook is great,or a worm harness trolled close to the bottom.jigs in black and purple work great here.shallow waters in low lite and deeper as the sun comes up.i cant help you with the other lakes, but if you ever venture to oneida i could hopefully give some advice to get a few 15 to 20 inchers (perfect size for a dip in some beer batter) .careful though, walleyes can be addicting.good luck .....snuffy
  7. went Wednesday the 22,2 in front of selkirk both on blue and white raps.saturday we got 5. 3 on blue and white raps 2 on silver and black
  8. i was out yesterday, the 14th,and used stickbaits for 3 hours, because that is what everyone in oswego last week said was working,i got 1 brown 4lb range. DAMM i never even tried any spoons, ill be back saturday morning if weather cooperates .
  9. i also ran into ice, just east of oswego, boat felt like it was surging, let of and looked at rear of boat. to my surprise it was ice? i told everyone to keep a look out for seals,LOL
  10. im making my maiden voyage friday morning, they are calling for 1 ft or less n winds at 5kt .but rain later in the day, i have several links to check waves http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.ph ... it=0&lg=en http://www.lakevision.com/camera_9.htm i have a 16.5 so i keep a good eye on the water, wonder how the browns are doing and where?anyone know
  11. maybe he meant 1st Saturday
  12. a wealth of info, thanks.im gonna try to hit the big o this weekend if we dont get big waves.when you troll shoreline for browns ,you dont use anything to get deeper or is the diver or spoon going deep enough?and in what depth do you troll,i have heard guys say they troll in 15ft? ...a ball park figure i know that today can be very different then tomorrow.
  13. thats what i was hoping for,i use lead core quite a bit ,but never off planers,i fish quite a bit in Oneida for walleyes,i have downriggers but im reaching out to some different waters this year,i have heard lots of talk about browns on Ontario in early spring, with planer boards ,i just picked up some planers (offshore inlines)but wasnt quite sure how to get them a little deeper, from what i read most of the action in spring is fairly shallow?but when summer and fall hit i will no doubt have to go deeper, also for walleyes on other lakes.do you use lead tied to the end of the mono kinda like a long leader?or can i go straight lead from leader/board/ reel?or will it pull the board down?
  14. looking to pick some minds on trolling with planer boards, just wondering how some of you get deeper,no more then 20 to 40ft.
  15. ok ,im not the original poster of this question, but since your giving info ill listen in.i too have been interested in fishing Cayuga.i have fished alot most of my life(im 41) but the last few years i have got into it big time,i have a new 165 alumacraft that is all set up for trolling(fish finders and kicker motor, and everything in between.i do some cast fishing ,but most of the time i lead core for walleyes, with some jigging tossed in.i do have 2 cannon down riggers that were given to me ,i have not used them alot,i know the basics on them.i also acquired most of the gear that goes with the down riggers ,some flashers, releases 10 lb and 5 lb weights .most of the stuff was for salmon and trout on ontario,he also gave me 2 poles for down rigging both with few hundred yards of i think 20 or 30 lb mono on them.like i said im very into walleye trolling on Oneida and some rivers, and occasionally Ontario,so i have the basics . ok now that i rambled off all that useless info.im always looking to expand my fishing areas,i have heard alot of talk here about Cayuga, or some of the other lakes,i live in clay , on the south shore of Oneida. so any info would be greatly appreciated ....thanks snuffy
  16. thanks, all i needed to hear is that somebody else is out to so i dont feel everyone is laughing at me...LOL.im working on the boat as we speak, maybe hit one of the rivers sunday. thanks again.

  22. i will be on Oneida Friday and Saturday morning ,at state launch east of bridgeport.i usually use rapalas in rainbow color, and jr thundersticks in fire tiger .it is only going to get better as fall approaches .ill be somewhere between buoy 119 and 115,in black and silver alumacraft .ill post how i do friday,.
