  1. Twenty years to get that one so that makes me due again at fifty four. Yikes!!!!
  2. Enjoy the pics. Just got a whole bunch more time to go perch fishing. Arrowed a nice doe tonight.
  3. The story. Been watching him all summer with two bigger and two smaller in some bean lots to and from work. Lots of pressure in this piece so I only place one stand in an inside corner and place four more junk stands in the area to discourage some others that don't have good manners. Created the illusion this funnel was taken and hunted hard. First day all pumped to relax for a change so I'm in and settled and hour early. Something, not sure what walks right under me at 6:10. Great I'm thinking and sat there enjoying the noises of the crunching leaves as what ever walked right on by. Sun starts to come up and out the squirrels. Man there are enough of those little buggers. So the old is that a deer or squirrel game starts, we've all been there, when I catch sudden movement in the middle of the funnel at thirty yards. All I have at this point is a hind leg. I see a little bit of his rack and figure forky and put the bow back and sit down. He finally takes a step were his whole head is in view and I recalculate fast. SHOOTER!!!!!!!!!! Like on a string he turns walks right at me to ten yards. He turns a bit to go around a tree and popped him at 8yds quartering towards me. He takes of bounding but really doesn't know what happened. Now at forty yards he's spinning like a chopper and down he goes. I waited 20min. and slid out. Came back after 2hrs with my trackers and cut them loose. Boy was that fun. Total pass through with a Rage two blade and we were having severe difficulty. I almost asked my wife if they were color blind but bit my tongue. Had to remember they are just pups so I eased back and let them work it out. It was killing me as I could see him down just twenty five yards away but could see no horns. I felt like them for a second, "Are we there yet?? How much longer??". Finally my daughter strikes the track and we're off. Neither one of them are looking up at all so they came right up on it and almost tripped over it. Before they got to close I swung around just to make sure it was done. Lots of high fives and hugs and questions. Tons of questions. My biggest to date for sure. Not sure on the score but I believe Ray is right in the ball park 125-130.
  4. Gotta love the double barrel. My boy says, " Pop, I'll bring my gun just in case I got to finish him off". To many tues. night Pursuits on the outdoor channel.
  5. After two years of passing on small ones and eating tag soup it paid off.
  6. Just got back from a little run at Port Bay. They are not in yet that is for sure. Caught one nice crappie off Tompkins point and had another slob on and lost it at the boat. Those came in 22' of water. The perch should be in soon. Stopped on the way out to see Hank and found Muskybob showing Hank how to take off a lower unit. Good to see you guys.
  7. I second on the thumbs down for Lowrance. My unit is mailed in for the sixth time which was three weeks ago and still no unit. It is simply amazing. Tell them what is wrong after waiting an hour on the phone and get it back and guess what, it is still doing the same thing.
  8. At Wrights marina in Oswego the weekend of the Scotty I saw several Pens with the kickers. Long shafts on all and most had the garelick manual motor brackets. All had the ez steer type hook up to the I/O. Anyone I talked to were more than willing to tell me about how it worked and how much it saved them in fuel. I did notice that most 24fts. had 9.9hp instead of the 8hp.
  9. It's been tough in that area lately so don't feel bad. I was out Fri. and went one for two. Heard many on the radio without a hit.
  10. Thanks for the insight and the pictures speak for themselves. Probably freezing temps at night from the looks of things. Boat rental is very expensive and I'm sure it is not rigged with even a rod holder. Thanks from the South Shore. Coup
  11. Thinking about trying the trolling game for walleyes in November. I have an I/O in the boat I would use. Is it to cold to use this type of boat there in November?
  12. Those riggers are some oldies but they work. As for the flies breaking many of you have brought up good points. I believe there has got to be a way to make a fly that puts the hammer on them and not on us.
  13. This was my first Scotty and it was a good time for sure. Thank you Landshark for putting it together. Now for the fun stuff that was left out. Sat. am we are just hanging out with 10min till I showed off my mad driving skills that really scared me to death and I hear something in the back not sounding right. Yup, It's Mike being hard on my equipment making a rats nest out of a downrigger. He was just so excited I think he just wanted to have the first one in the water for the day. It gets better. So now we are hours into the morning and Bret and Mike are slaving away and I'm not really paying attention to them and just watching rods and I hear, " Oh no, your kidding me " Now, I've fished with Mike a few times and this is one guy that never looks puzzled in the back of a boat. I look at the corner rigger and see the cable end frayed laying on the transom. Good bye Fish Hawk probe and ball. I can't believe the tru trac swivel tingamajig just let go. ON the bright side I called my better half and she picked up an x4 on the way the weigh in, so we were back in business and also when you go 0 for 7 on the second day you get to put your boat on the trailer first. Got to love it. Thanks again guys, I had a blast.
  14. Looking into installing a kicker and I'm wondering if 20" will work or do I need the 25"? I'm thinking 25" but not sure. The boat is a 245 Contender. Anyone know before I screw this up. Thanks, Coup
  15. Very nice Paul. Let me know when you want to go out sometime. Coup
  16. Dale, Nice talking with you the other morning. We ended up 3 for 7. My dad put the only king in boat. The other two were browns. The 4 we lost were all screamers. Again we straightened out the treble hook on an atomik fly. If I heard it right, the Grady White put a 38lb. king in the box.
  17. Sounds good. Catch up with ya in the am. I will be out around 8:30 after I drop the kids off to the sitters. Caught all of them 1 mile east of Hughs. The boat is Reeltime. 24' hardtop Pennyan. Chris
  18. Thanks for the report. Mirrored your program but with only two wire rods this morning and went 3 for 5. Best king 20#. The two I lost were bigguns. One snapped the leader between the dipsey and flasher and the other just straightened the hook. Yikes. I'm going again tomorrow am. and give another try at breaking some tackle.
  19. Looking for a pair of single or double rod holders for the back of my mag 10A's. Coup

  23. I currently have a lowrance combo unit and it just went back for the third time for service. The sonar has always worked great but the Gps side of the unit not so hot. If it comes back again with the same results I'm done with them and will opt for just a gps unit and just use the sonar portion of the lowrance unit. Any suggestion on just a Gps unit??
  24. Thankyou, the 10's really blow back at the deeper depths. Good to hear about the heavier weights with no problems.
