  1. Your best bet is to head to Jefferson county. Hunt the state lands like I do and you'll never hunt around here again. The runs are big on cottantails like hare. Thousands of acres of brush and no people. Hunt the same spot all day. About a two hour drive from Rochester but worth it.
  2. Life Caulk it is. I'll have to find some. Thankyou for the tips.
  3. I read somewhere about the correct product to use to seal the holes. Can't seem to find that info again.
  4. I picked up a used teak swim platform for 25$ with the stainless brackets and all. A real steal for sure. Now, is there a set height to mount this? I plan on putting a cooler on it. The boat it is going on is a Penn Yan 245 Contender. I want it to be right so I wasn't sure if there were any basic rules or if just were ever it looks good is ok.
  5. Nice job Stix. Work has been crazy but I'm going out in the morning. Chris
  6. What did you end up with for an auto pilot and how does it work?
  7. Fishstix, Good meeting you Fri am. I heard on the vhf you had one to weigh in. Wife and I didn't even have a release all morning. Coup Reeltime
  8. How are they in 3ft plus, rough water??
  9. Fished out of Hughs this am and saw guys running planer boards in really rough water. Wondering what make or style they are or what do you guys use in rough water for planers? I've got the kind with two boards and threaded rod and there is no way those babies would have survived.
  10. Not a single release. Allot of boats out though mostly fishing in tight for browns. Maybe next time.
  11. So I'm not alone. Fishstix, I was the guy that was waiting Sat evening for the launch and got out of the way so you could get to your slip. Had the kids out drowning some worms for smallmouths and playing with my new graph. Thanks for the input Fishstix and Skipper. I'll let you know how we make out. Looked at the report from the Oak they are having the same problem.
  12. Fished for 7hrs. out Hugh's. Dropped in at 200 and headed north to 550fow then worked west and back in to 100fow and back out to 240fow. Marked maybe eight fish the entire trip and half of them were laying on the bottom around 280fow. Did manage to put three in the boat. Two rainbows and a skipper. No pattern or concentration of fish any were. Anyone else find them?? Taking a buddy from work and his two young boys tomorrow out of Hugh's at 5am. I would really like to see these little guys home with tired arms. Any advice would be great.
  13. Nice report and good luck tomorrow. Wish I could be out there also.
  14. Ray, I'll check the angle on that transducer. You might have something there. Holy Mackerel, I'm going to work with this graph a bit more and try it in manual mode. If I do make a move, it will be for a new color unit also. Which unit did you upgrade to? I think I went by you going in around 8:30 memorial day morning. Couldn't stay out long but three hours is better than nothing. Reeltime Coup
  15. I'll try the manual mode next time and turn the the sensitivity up till the rigger balls show up with the fish ID still off. Anyways, great morning on the water and got the net wet three times. Can't complain.
  16. This unit can run in auto or in manual. I always runs it in auto and the gray line is great on the bottom and there is a little surface clutter so that appears good. There is also a Fish iD option. When the ID is ON all you see is fish across the screen marking both balls. Turn it off and I see nothing. I would think it would show hooks or something marking the balls. I did mark two schools of bait today right on the bottom but that was it. The Lowrance LMS 520 c with the gps chartplotter is looking pretty good right now.
  17. Mark, Still got it. Not to happy with it. I haven't marked a fish the last three times out. Talk on the radio says they are marking them and I'm right in the middle of these guys. Not sure what the deal is and I'm putting fish in the boat just about every time out. Coup
  18. Went three for three. All small kings In 90-100fow 15-60down on green glow frog, purple thunder and a blue and white spoon.
  19. This helps. I don't have line counters so I never really knew what a big king would really run. Looks like I'll have get some more backing on my reels. Thanks
  20. Is 150yrds. enough backing for a leadcore setup?
  21. Thanks for all the advice and opening my eyes to other options that work. "That work" is the key. My GPS is a hand held Garmin that I use for hunting. I really never thought about networking. I like the idea of having things compatible. I am in no hurry to buy so I will look around a bit. Thanks again for the input. Probably going with a unit that has it all. Bass Pro has a Lowrance in Auburn for about 1700$ with everything plus a monitor a blind man could see. My wife would kill me!!!!!!!!!!
  22. Cool, nice to know someone else was out there too.
  23. Started in close with gin clear water. Eased out to 150' and hooked up with a 20lb. king. 80 down, 40' back, on a NK mullato. Only release of the evening. Marked very few fish. Down temp 40.2 @ 80ft.
  24. Way to get the kids into those kings. What is a 300 or 400 copper? Is it just a copper spoon?
