The Torpedo Swivels are available in most Great Lakes Stores. Shipping from Canada can be expensive because Fedex and UPS double the shipping costs but is tracked and therefore guaranteed. If you want cheaper shipping just ask and Torpedo Fishing Products will ship via mail in an envelope for just over $1, of course you take a risk this way but shipping is far less.

We paint all of our Torpedo Diver downrigger weights for one reason. We care about our customers, handling bare lead is toxic, especially if you eat food after handling bare lead, this is magnified with children handling lead. My 8 year old son is not allowed anywhere near our shop for this very reason.

Lets debate......200' copper vs 10 color core!
Matthew replied to Yankee Troller's topic in Tackle and Techniques
Did a test the other day with 7 color leadcore, at 3mph it was sitting at 21 feet, on the inside turn it went down to 28 feet, on the outside turn it returned to 21 feet. -

Lets debate......200' copper vs 10 color core!
Matthew replied to Yankee Troller's topic in Tackle and Techniques
Both are very speed dependent. Our data suggests the leadcore moves down slowly and takes a long time to come back up while copper moves up and down at a faster rate. As an example our last test 450 copper at 3mph was 45 feet down and at 2mph was 80 feet down. -
depends on how deep you are fishing yesterday we were fishing down 180 and were using 16lb Torpedo's

The last couple of years we have switched our rigger rods to wire line and a flouro leader. We attach our release to the flouro. Detecting small fish and hookups are much improved, also the fight with straight wire is awesome.

Not sure about the redwood ones but the plastic ones sit too deep in the water and other boats run them over.

Which Lowrance unit do you have? I have an HDS8 and had a high speed transom mount transducer made for under $100. I can go 35mph and still mark with no problems. PM me if you want more details.

Many people are asking me what we have that is new for 2012. This year we have made a product for Moor Subtroll, Depth Raider, Speed and Temp units. We worked with Moor and Depth Raider to overcome cable peeling issues and to increase depth obtained. The first product is not new but at it's price point becomes very affordable to most anglers. A speed and temp cable that has a copper coated core wire with stainless steel wire wrapped on the outside. This means no more peeling cable or blowback associated with the old speed and temp cable. The diameter of the new cable is very close to regular downrigger cable. The other new item is a speed and temp antenna that disregards outside interference and focuses on the signal coming from the probe.. Combined we have reached depths of over 400 feet while still getting speed and temperature. Note that beyond 300 feet updates take longer due to the distance the radio signal travels from the probe. Here are two links. https://www.torpedodivers.com/scart/pro ... mNum=P0010 https://www.torpedodivers.com/scart/pro ... mNum=R0010 Also available at your favorite trolling store, look for Depth Raider speed and temp cable.

Hey Stan here is the pic I promised you.

The deepest water I have been on in Lake O is 415' and had no problems with speed and temp with both my Depth Raider and Sub Troll. If I find the pics on my camera then I'll post them.

I had no problems reading down to 400' a couple of weeks ago with my depth raider, not sure I need speed and temp any deeper. Man 400', my Depth Raider quits at 225', but the Fish Hawk on the other side of the boat reads down to 480' and does not miss a beat. I'm going to fish Michigan next week, will go out and see how deep we can get the Depth Raider to go and if I remember will try and get some pics for you.
