Long point is open, no bridge issues with the top but there is only 1-2 feet of water in the pond before you hit the lake. Haven’t been to deans. Heading out of long point this Saturday

Cayuga Current Cayuga Lake water temperature
bullwinkle replied to mike0129's topic in Finger Lakes Discussion
37.7 surface temperature out of long point Sunday. Not sure about deans cove launch but long point has only 1-2 feet of water in the pond side and 24 footer might be a struggle -
Yes, just what the doctor ordered (albeit an animal doctor). The wind became a challenge for jigging in the afternoon but overall it was an enjoyable maiden voyage for 2021

I don’t know about Myers personally but John Gaulke’s site says it’s under construction until next week and his information is always spot on.

There is no ice at the launch, but not much water either. The ramp was deep enough for 16 ft Lund to launch but the pond had no visibility and less than a foot of water in spots—barely made it into the lake.

Long Point or Deans Cove launch updates?
bullwinkle replied to bullwinkle's topic in Finger Lakes Discussion
Thank you, maybe by Friday the ice will be off long point -
Heading up from the south this week and have been out of touch with the winter weather, would like to fish the north end of Cayuga and wondered if the launches are free of ice and snow. I see the water levels are low, would be in a 16 ft Lund. thanks for any information.

Tampa Bay Bucs local player / someone special
bullwinkle replied to Frogger's topic in Finger Lakes Discussion
Unless Tampa makes it to the super bowl again, it's likely the only time I'll cheer for a left guard. Unheralded for the protection of the MVP, 74 rocks. Best wishes for your wife, her victory out shines any football game -

Unreel took the words right off my keyboard--I didn't have a dog in the fight until now, go Tampa! -
If they want to jig or cast try John Gaulke @ fingerlakesanglingzone

I was planning on jigging as well, thanks for the update.

Is it worth a 2.5 hour drive to Long Point for lake trout tomorrow or is the lake a muddy mess from all the rain? Thanks for any updates.

I went from the old lowrance X-85 to a garmin echo. It worked great for jigging lakers for about 2 years and then seemed to not pick up the jig as well no matter how I tried to adjust it. I then went with the humminbird helix and am happy enough to get another one for the boat upgrade. I do better with the lower frequency transducer with the wider cone angle (83kHz and 60 degrees.) Some of the newer DI models with the chirp eliminated that, IMO a mistake. Humminbird helix can run a split screen with both 83 kHz and the 200 kHz (20 degree cone angle), but I prefer the bottom zoom/low frequency split screen. It's all what you feel most comfortable with--I drive a Dodge Ram and my fishing partner loves a Ford 150.

Launched out of long point last weekend but runoff pushed me over to west side-- jigging for lakers. Stoneam:There are lakers north of deans cove launch all the way to the silos. I was 130 to 160 FOW with 47 surface temp. The trollers were between me and the shoreline and I believe they landed lakers and landlocks I'm guessing 75 to 125 FOW. I hooked some lakers suspended 50 to 65 ft over 140. Hope that helps, good luck.
