  1. What I don't understand is why that container ship altered course so many times prior to the collision. Here's a link that shows the big U-turns it made... https://www.yahoo.com/gma/know-navy-destroyers-deadly-collision-container-ship-japan-172332684--abc-news-topstories.html
  2. Ok, thanks! I don't keep up with the tournaments. I'm doing good to just get out and fish on some rare occasions.
  3. Great job and thanks for the report. What kind of salmon were on the board (size)?
  4. This is the Navionics that I got https://www.navionics.com/usa/charts?format=Regions&charts=NavionicsPlus Who woulda thought it would be this tough to decide on a mapping program and fish finder
  5. I've never used or seen the app, so I can't comment on it. I will say that I don't regret paying the money for the Navionics that I bought.
  6. Is there any good news out of Henderson for this derby they had? Any decent numbers/sizes of salmon, trout or steelhead caught this weekend? Not looking for secrets, just looks like there aren't many silvers north of Pulaski yet.
  7. I would call the seller/store and make sure their included map software isn't a partial promotional version of Navionics +, which normally costs more than $160 by itself. I'd hate for you to get it and find out it doesn't include the lakes you fish. Ask them for a list of included lakes. Sounds like a great deal though.
  8. Just and FYI comparison between the two, Navionics + Regions East covers all of the Finger Lakes. Humminbird Lakemaster version 2 covers all but 2 Finger Lakes (Canadice and Canandaigua).
  9. Humminbird Lakemaster is now on Version 2. I bought Version 1 two years ago and I like the maps in it. Version 1 Cannot be upgraded to Version 2, so I took this as an opportunity to buy the Navionics + Regions East card on Walmart dot com last month. I have 2 Humminbird fish finders in each of my two boats; a gen 1 Helix 5 DI and a 698 with SI/DI in my 16ft row boat, and an 859 DI and a 959 in my 21ft Bayliner Trophy. Both programs show similar contours on the 2 inland lakes I've used them on, but I haven't used them on Lake Ontario yet, or the finger lakes. Neither one will show all shoals in a lake, but they both do a good job of marking the basic contours of the lake bottom. Lakemaster Version 2 has added some new lakes and contour detail over version 1, but I don't know how much better it is than version 1. If you PM me your email address I will send you a PDF copy of the lakes that are covered in the Navionics + Regions East and Lakemaster Version 2. It's enough lakes to make your eyes go crossed just browsing through the list. The Navionics card needs to be loaded from their web site before you can use it. The Lakemaster card came pre-loaded. You will probably want the SD/MSD card, not the Compact Flash card.
  10. I don't see any disadvantages to having them. I've never used them before, so I hope they work out for you.
  11. You might want to ask about out riggers in the open lake section where more people are likely to see it. Have you checked youtube for out rigger use on the great lakes?
  12. Are the buoys in Stoney Creek visible above water? It can be pretty tricky in that channel if it's not marked real well. I've only been through there once, and that was more than 2 years ago.
  13. Thanks! Storage is everything on a smaller boat (mine is 21ft). I hate tripping over tackle boxes, but there's only so much we can do to make room to move around.
  14. Looks like it holds a lot and doesn't take up too much space, very cool!
  15. Cranberry Lake, NY today for some afternoon fishing.
  16. It'll be interesting to see when the lake front businesses can get back to business as usual. The sooner the better.
  17. All Great Lakes Levels High Through Summer According to a report I read this morning. Here's the link... http://www.wwnytv.com/story/35653860/great-lakes-expected-to-be-high-through-summer
  18. Good point! I store the flashers in a tackle box in my garage, then put them in these pouches the day before I go fishing. I trailer my boat because it's also used for camping on the water, so these pouches are used for holding just about anything that'll fit.
  19. Your idea sounds good too, looking forward to seeing a pic.
