  1. I don't use any apps, so I can't help you with this one.
  2. Like mentioned earlier, call Bedford Creek Marina/Campground and ask them if they have space available. They have more flexibility in the early season, bedfordcreek.com , 315-646-2486 Good luck to everyone this year, and safe boating!
  3. Thanks for clarifying that, it's way above my tech level.
  4. Pap, Bedford puts out red and green poles where the sand bar is, and it helps you navigate past the beach.
  5. Check your PM's. I have no affiliation with that seller, but it gets you pointed in the right direction. I got my 959 on ebay for $600 last year with free shipping (different seller), and no other site could come close to that price.
  6. Ebay has one for $1284 with SI/DI/GPS and free shipping.
  7. Chuck, it sounds like you could start with the Helix 10. They seem to have all of the features you are looking for.
  8. I use four different Humminbirds on my two boats. On my 16ft multi-species aluminum utility boat I have a Helix 5 DI and a 698 DI & SI. I fish for trout and salmon on deep inland lakes, as well as bass and perch with this boat. The SI is nice when looking for hidden structure but I think the screen needs to be bigger to be able the see finer detail. My Helix 5 and 698 service their intended purpose and I am real happy with how they perform. On my Lake Ontario boat I run an 859 with DI and a 959 HD. Both are excellent and mark fish real well. In fact, all four of my Humminbirds mark fish with great hooks in the sonar mode. I use the Humminbird Lake Master cartography and it works great on Lake O and inland lakes. I haven't used it on the St Lawrence River yet because I don't fish the river. I've had no issues with any of my fish finders and recommend Humminbird to anyone.
  9. Yeah, $12 is reasonable. And the water is much deeper than it was last year. I fished with Matt last week out of Bedford.
  10. This early in the season they should have plenty of open dock space at Bedford Creek. There weren't many boats in the marina a few days ago. Westcott's might be less crowded than Chaumont with it being opening weekend for walleye. I think all of the public boat launches will be scary busy
  11. I like using the cut in Henderson, but the rocket launcher on my hardtop might not clear the bridge now, and it's just not worth the risk. A little extra gas to go around the islands is cheaper than damaging my boat. It's crazy to see the Black River as high as it is with so little water coming over the dam in Dexter. Henderson is a longer drive but I like the launch there much better than Dexter.
  12. I don't know if the Henderson public launch is usable or not. I know I won't try going through the cut (under that bridge) until the water levels go back down.
  13. Yes, Sackets launch is closed for now. They are re-paving that main road that the launch is on, and putting in new curbs and sidewalks. I have no idea when it will be open again.
  14. No problem Pap. I figured you guys that have to make a long drive would like to see how high the water is. I don't plan on fishing this weekend. Spring cleaning and yard work are in full swing for me. Gotta get caught up so I can make more time for fishing.
  15. Water Levels in Dexter/Sackets Harbor Took some pics of the Black River in Dexter today. There wasn't much water spilling over the dam.
  16. The first trout had a fresh lamprey bite, and a healed lamprey scar. The second trout had two fresh lamprey bites, one on each side. Seems like the lampreys are sucking the life (and the fight) out of these fish. Makes me wonder if it has any effect on our east-end fishing.
  17. I run all of my Humminbirds in the advanced mode. I don't recall if mine are set for deep water, fresh, or salt water but I've never had any issues. I don't get my boat out of storage until this Friday or I would turn on my 859 & 959 to tell you what settings I use.
  18. Congrats on the boat and welcome to the forum! Do an internet search for boat names. There are some very creative ones out there. With 4 little ones on board, I'd be calling it "Reel Adventures" or "Reel Adventurous".
  19. Just trying to cover all the bases here, with no intent to insult your intelligence... Is the transducer cable coiled up onto itself (to take up excess)? Is this the only fish finder on your boat? Are there any kinks in the transducer cable? Sometimes we stare at something so long, and trace all our steps back and forth, and still can't figure it out. I did it with my 959 by not plugging in the transducer cable all the way. I had to install a 10ft extension transducer cable and failed to push the two cables together all the way. I was sure I did, and double checked it. I tried it again the next day and realized my error. I hope it's something simple. Good luck!
  20. I agree with the possibility that it's a wiring issue. I have an 859HD with DI, and a 959HD in my boat and never had any issues with them. Good luck with it, and let us know what's causing the issue when you figure it out.
