  1. Wanted to add some new spoons to the box for spring browns. I know a bunch of different mfg. make them. Which ones seem to produce the best? Sizes, colors, etc. ? Thanks
  2. Went out of the harbor east last week and got nothin' so this week went west and still got nothin'. Temp went from 55 inside to 45 outside. After an hour or so thought it would be best to pick up and go back to the warm water in the harbor. Ended up 2 for 2 in the harbor from 11-2pm. Try again next week
  3. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):3/11 Time on Water:4hr Weather/Temp:60 Wind Speed/Direction:sw Waves: 0-1 Surface Temp: 38 Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 0 Total Boated:0 Species Breakdown:0 Hot Lure:0 Trolling Speed: 2-2.4 Down Speed: Boat Depth: 5-25 Lure Depth: ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS Fished from 10am-2pm Nothing, zipola, nadda . Inside the harbor it was 38deg. outside was 37deg Could not find a good temp break or any hungry fish, but good color water. Ran a variety of different colored sticks of boards and same with spoons on riggers that were any where from 4ft-6ft-8f. Fished from 5ft to 25ft. Few other boats out there but saw nobody reach for a net. Oh well boat ran good and had no problems for the first time out so I'll call that a win. Next time. ====================
  4. Banner morning for me. Went to a beaver pond 5 minutes from the house. Left at 6:15 was home by 8:30 with a limit of mallards. Seen a lot of mallards and 2 flocks of woodies but could not get them to decoy. Dog made every retrieve and even found one that dropped in some thick cover. Had to break some skim ice then set the deeks. Turned the mojo on and it was game on. First 4 shots 4 birds, with a double. Can't remember a better morning.
  5. Think I have made my last boating trip to skinny this year in search of that ever elusive rainbow trout. Went Sunday am, motored down to the south end and trolled back north to the launch along the west side. Had the wind and sun at my back, worked in and out from 10fow to 50fow, only managed 2 lakers off the boards no bows. Had 53 deg on top, it's time but for some reason it just never happend this fall and I have no idea why, very disappointing This will be logged as my worst fall ever out there Well time to switch gears to hunting.
  6. Man, don't know what is going on out there this year but this is the worst fall rainbow fishing I have ever had there. Been out on skinny 3 more times since my last post and only managed 1 bow each trip with very few hits Temps are right, conditions are right, but no fish Been using the same program that has worked in the past and even tried changing things up with no results. I would like to think I am doing something wrong but I have been going over my past logs and everything seems to be the same but with a lot less results this year, puzzling to me. One thing did stick out to me and I wanted to get some thoughts on it. I remember reading in a book that when surface trolling you should always troll with the sun at your back. Reasoning was that fish don't have eyelids and it is much like us looking into the sun without sun glasses. I don't think it makes much difference fishing deeper but my last 3 trips all fish taken came with the sun at my back. Past logs I kept support the theroy with very few fish taken trolling directly into the sun. Any thoughts?
  7. I did not target Lakers but I went to Skinny this am 10/8 with a friend and here is my report; Very in awespicious start to the morning. On the way out there had a oppossum commit suicide. No chance, stopped right in my lane thump thump. Get to the launch right on time Then after launching the boat I park the truck, and go to jump in the boat. Then I hear chink chink plunk. Sh*t truck keys fall out of my jacket pocket into the water After screwing around for 20 minutes with the net and spot light finally got them to where I could grab them. Finally get set up all be it a little later now. Went 4 for 5 on Rainbows with 1 nice one @ 24" 4 1/2 lbs. on a floating perch rapala. Others came on needle fish with a little weight on them. All action off boards 2.4 to2.8 mph 40-50 fow. Still a little warm 62 deg. on top. Switched programs @ 9:45 to perch. Got into some in 25 fow, minnows with red hooks Turned out to be a beautiful day on the water, fishin wasn't bad either. Off the water by noon had chores to do. LilByte, I talked with a guy on the way out who did six lakers but I did not get the details. They are out there and well over 15" . I have done it many times, keep at it.
  8. I usually don't start fishing out there until October. But if I were to go now I would be heading out in the dark and running a mix of perch sticks and light colored spoons (red, orange, pink etc.) flat lined and put riggers down from 5-15ft. until the sun came over the hills. Then I would switch and start fishing the thermal cline with the riggers which should be down around 40ft or so. With overcast they should be up top feeding in the early am through the morning but if the sun is out its always tuff go deeper and hope for the best. That would be my best advice, Good luck. Would love to hear a report if you go.

  10. He is a local NYS Buck Big guys like this have a knack for disapearing or getting hit by a car at night chasing tail.
  11. Great pics. Nice looking fish. Couldn't help but notice which end of the spoons have and eye on them
  12. First off you have to fish in the present not the future. 8/30 (but let me borrow your time machine I need to get some lottery #'s) Sorry had to do it I can't help you cause I don't fish out that way but I am sure there are some guys on hear that can. Good luck
  13. Nice Job Was on Oneida Sunday 7/17 @ 6am put in @ the South Shore Boat Launch. Very slow morning. Started on the shoals, marked fish but no action. Went out deeper and the screen looked better but same results. Quit @ 9:30 before the heat, ended up with 2 12" Perch jigging nothing touched the worm harnesses. Changed up colors but same results. Didn't see anybody reaching for nets and reports back at the launch were a lot of 1 or none. Did hear some guys on the radio doing some farther east past Lewis Pt on stick baits out deep. I am sure the full moon & clear sky the night before had them feeding all night long. Never have enough time to get out when it's "on" so I go when I can, just picked the wrong morning again. Forgot to add my after pics Someday I'll time it right.
  14. I will be camping at oneida shores this weekend and will be back at it for more punishment Guess I'll have to fill the boat up and make the trek farther east. My wife tells me that instead of trying to catch fresh fish for Friday dinners that if I sold my boat and all the equipment & stuff that we could have steak & lobster every Friday for the rest of our life. Sad part is she is right, but what fun would that be
  15. Went to Oneida Saturday 7/2 On the water at the crack of dawn. Fished between 121 & 123 Started in 20ft and picked up 2 4lb smallies and 3 sheephead. So moved deeper to 30ft was only able to manage 1 19" eye on a bottom bouncer and dixie spinner. Was also jigging with black, purple, white, red, with no luck. Was marking fish but nothing spectular. Heard guys on the radio doing them trolling with stick baits around 113-115 Even though there was enough breeze for a great drift it was that dam east wind which for some reason never produces well for me on that lake. Oh well maybe next time.
  16. Went down to Otisco (No-fishco, my new nickname for it) last night. Casted every color Husky Jerk they make off the rocks from 8-11:30. Not a walleye to be found. Same went for the other 6 guys that were down there. Always have had a difficult time getting them there, but for some reason I keep returning for more abuse.
  17. After getting some good reports I also headed up to Oswego this am. Took my daughter and her friend, got a little bit of a late start ( on the water @6:30) and from what I heard I missed the best bite. Did manage one 5lb brown that was it. Black and orange stinger 5ft down. Once that heavy fog rolled in and you could only see 100ft in front of your self I headed in. That was down right nerve racking manuvering through boats, planer boards, logs, etc... Maybe next time
  18. Nice job, thanks for the report. I try to read all the reports and stuff on this site, you can pick up a lot of info on here for sure. Try posting a pic or two. If not of a fish then of something that happened, like gum on the bottom of your shoe you stepped on in the parking lot or something.
  19. Nice looking walleye. Did you mark that spot on the gps to go back to get him in a few weeks? Are you guys in the witness protection program by any chance?
  20. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):4/14 Time on Water:4 hrs Weather/Temp: Wind Speed/Direction: NW Waves: Surface Temp: 47.5 Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 2 Total Boated:1 Species Breakdown: Coho Hot Lure: blue smithwick Trolling Speed:2.0 - 2.4 Down Speed: Boat Depth: 10-20 Lure Depth: ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS Well it's been a long while since I have been out. I was too busy building my house last year that the boat never got out of the garage I still have a ton of crap left to do but I can't take it anymore so I pulled the boat out today. Fished in and around the harbor today and not much happening this AM. Out of the 8-10 boats around I think I saw maybe 2 rods move on other boats. Had 1 hit on the rigger down 6 with a blue and white stinger with nobody home. Took a 23" coho at 10:30 on a blue smithwick with orange bottom. The boat ran great like it never missed a beat and everthing work right so all was not lost. Maybe next time ====================
  21. I have 2 Roemer Releases for sale. Don't remember where they came from but I don't use them. Asking $10ea. free shipping. Thanks
  22. Thanks for the info Hank. I sent them an e-mail with a couple of pics. We'll see if thay can come up with any other ideas.
  23. Thanks for the input fella's. When I looked up the ez steer on Cabela's web site for some reason it said not for Honda's. I tried to locate the company on the web to ask if there was any reasoning to that statement but could not find them. Sean, I tried that idea when I first hooked them up when I got the boat. I ran into the clearance issue of the coupler being to close to the fin above the prop and I couldn't get the rod end to snap in because of it being to close to the fin. But what I think I am going to do is make a spacer for the back part of the kicker motor so that the coupler will extend past the fin allowing me to be able to hook it up that way with the coupler facing down. I just have to get some longer worm drive clamps. Hopefully that will solve the problem. Thanks again guys.
  24. I have a new to me boat that I have had for a few years now. I have not got to play with all the gadgets and figure everything out yet. Sounds pretty pathetic don't it Anyway it has Honda 4 strokes on it, a 130 and 9.9 There is 2 different steering arms that came with it. One I think I have figured out but it does not seem to work right. It has a couple of quick connects that are bandclamped to the engine shafts. Problem is when you raise and lower the kicker motor the angle of the arm is too steep and the main motor wont steer plus it hits the side of the motor cover. I have tried to move the band clamps up or down but nothing really changes thus I don't think its right. The second steering arm I really like the idea of but can't seem to figure out how it works. It's all stainless and has to twist locks on each end that lock on a ball. The kicker motor has a mount that it hooks onto but I can not find anywhere that it might connect to the main motor. Don't know if that part is missing or what. I was also thinking about going to the boat show to ask around. I really gotta get my sh*t together cause I would like to do some fishing this year and it's to nice of a boat to just let it sit in the garage. Thanks
