Hey guys, Going up Sept 19th to chautauqua to fish the tourney. Any pointers or locations you can provide? Been there twice so I am not familiar with the lake.

Fishing a Chautauqua Musky Cash Tourney Sept. 19th. I have fished there twice and have very little knowledge of the area. Any Musky pros out there that could provided a few hot locations on the lake?

Few weeks back I was out diving in an area that was once infested with smallies. Im telling you it was amazing. Not only did i see the smallies, they were big. I have got to assume that these hogs are picking golbies at their own leisure. Yesterday (Aug 29th) with the lake overturned, I witnessed several smallies (in shock) floating on the water. anybody see this? I was talking to another fisherman and he witnessed this as well.

FDNY76 (Chris) Thank you very much! The boat is running great. I am amazed how well it handles the water. Yeah, Last night was pretty wicked. You could definitely feel them pound the wall. Looks good out there right now. I am going to try it later on this afternoon. (wife approved)

Today (Sat) should be fine. SSE winds 7mph all day. Looking out my window (lake front) the waves are about 1-3 at 6:30am. The winds last night were insane NNE so watch your sand bars (especially Braddocks). We had a lot of sand move in. I was up around 5:30pm and saw a bunch of boats heading out.

That is insane. Nice catch Sucks reading this knowing I cannot go out today. I'm starting to sweat and twitch.

Bass buster - I have to recommend a soft bait to try. STRIKE KING Shadalicious 5.5†Size – Color: Natural Shad or Neon Ghost Minnow. You will pick out the big boy’s with this bait. It’s incredible how many BIG bass I have caught with these. Give it a shot.

How big was the boat? I know a guy who sunk his 26ft boat and it cost him a few thousand to have it removed. Part of the issue was the DEC was involved. I wonder if insurance pays for that???

The Seneca Park Zoo has a project for the conservation of Sturgeon on the river. I was in contact with them today and I'm hopeful to work with them and the DEC on this... Thanks all for your replies.

Master Bait-Go

Yes, I know their project lasted a few years in early 2000.... Im not sure how much their dedicating as of today. I will find out. People are catching (and hopefully releasing) sturgeon in the river now however it takes between 14- 20 years before females are sexually mature. I think the conservation piece needs to be continuously monitored and the stocking program needs to be aggressive. The water and topology of the river will sustain these fish. We need the resources to push it.

I was looking into starting a conservation program for restoring the Lake Sturgeon population on the Genesee River. I am doing a capstone project on Sturgeon and I feel a project of this sort would restore the rivers sturgeon legacy in the area. Any Interest? and or does anybody know of someone/groups who are doing such work?
