  1. I don't think it would hurt to close a few sections of rivers/creeks that have the best areas for reproduction.
  2. The raceway was loaded with fish and the ladder was full too. Was there on Saturday. They start collecting eggs today
  3. I visited the Altmar hatchery over the weekend. The raceway is full the whole length of Coho & Chinooks. They start stripping eggs tomorrow the 13th. However there were very few fish being caught in the Oswego river. As a side note: I spoke with a biologist that does testing on all the Great Lakes and he said " all these fish are fully loaded with bad stuff and suggested not eating them". I guess the water isn't as clean as we thought it was. I should have picked his brain a bit more
  4. I'll be in Oswego on the 10th of October if there's any interest
  5. I burn 3 ton of coal @ $224.00 per ton to heat my 2,100 sqft house. Cost for the winter $675.00
  6. Coal is twice the btu as pellets and you don't need to worry about getting the coal wet.. I've been using my Keystoker (made in PA) since 1990. Auto feed backload.
  7. If you get down Rt 17 in Sullivan County NY, stop in Roscoe “Trout Town USAâ€, at Roscoe Beer Co. You won’t be disappointed.
  8. You could also contact Krenzers Marine in Sodus. They sell Venture trailers at a very good price.
  9. If you're fishing close, it should be ok. http://www.windfinder.com/weatherforecast/oswego_harbor
  10. Not sure what the target was but there were a few nets set out in front of Oswego, a few weeks ago, during the loc
  11. Remember too that (so they say) only 10-15% survive to adulthood
  12. I'm wondering if the feds would shut the sr down, if returns are not high enough to gather eggs?
  13. I agree. Either become a member of one of these fine groups or donate $$ to the net pen projects. If the feds could open up and protect more spawning grounds, that would be a great step forward to more repro
  14. Finally got Kevins #. He uses both and these are separate prop repair shops and both use laser. Power Marine in Canandaigua and Miller Island in MD. Thanks Brian
  15. They say natural reproduction is at about 40%. Instead of building more hatcheries, why not add fish ladders to rivers and streams, like the Oswego river? There was talk about it several years back but that went away as soon as it was mentioned
  16. He told me it was Cyuga lake but I forgot the name of the place
