  1. In Ohio, where I live, Parents can be held liable for the crimes of their children up to $5,000. Of course, there's the blood from a stone problem. I don't know if New York has the same law on the books. You could make the parent's lives difficult even if they can't pay. Garnishing nothing is still nothing, but if they work you can take a cut after a judgement.
  2. $8,000. Working great. Just got a pressure wash before heading back to the dock. Had the rig out to the border and back on Sunday (Erie): cruising nicely at 30 m.p.h. gps and trolling like a dream.
  3. I like the way the PP cuts through the water...less blowback. I have about 25' of mono or fluoro albrighted to the terminal end. I use 50 lb PP. I think it helps to see what happening off the ball due to the sensitivity. I have 30 lb big game rigger rods ready if fleas get ridiculous.
  4. I forgot to mention the sale also includes a set of 28' x 8" pine heavy duty planer boards stained flo. yellow. I upgraded to the Amish Outfitter composite boards and the one-year old pine boards stay with the rig. Not bad boards. I pulled a couple jet forties or three deep divers off 'em effectively.
  5. New price and upgrade on the riggers: $8,500 with the cannon Mag 10 electrics (2) and the cannon Unitroll manual riggers (2). I forgot to mention the old Raymarine Sport Pilot autopilot on the boat. It works (as good as the old sport pilots can). Its control stick is busted but the unit powers right up and takes the wheel: it is set in the middle of "correction" range on the dial of the control stick. Its handy for trolling when all hands are needed on deck or running point to point. It can be finicky for low-speed trolling and I usually don't turn it on. The boat trolls pretty damn straight just by itself with bags out. It is functional and can be useful when needed.
  6. When releasing the ball make sure your rod tip is beyond the ball/release, i.e. over the transom and away from the boat. This will keep the main line in the proper position as the rigger decends. If your rod tip is in "front" of the ball, i.e. boatside, the line can get twisted up if the ball spins or some other funky thing happens. The black's release will not spin, it will swivel freely on the rigger line, IF your main line is properly positioned beyond the transom and rigger line on the drop. Good luck...I like the blacks alot for tension control and the ability to crank the rod down once set without misfires 100 foot down. Jarrett
  7. Pardon the grime the boat is hauled out for a mid-summer cleaning. I'll throw in the four manual riggers as part of the sale. Mag 10s available too. Jarrett

Thursday morning arrival, afternoon fish. Bumpy westerlies kept us inshore. Picked a couple of Kings up, 8-10 lbs., a couple shakers. Inshore by the power plant, 105-120 fow, on bottom or close to it, Moonshine spoons. Friday morning blown off by 5-7' Northerlies. Afternoon inshore as waves died down. Picked a 17 lb, a 12 lb and a 6 lb. King inshore, along with a few shakers. Same general program as Thursday except black dippy with orange/copper spoon was also gettin' hit. Lost a huge King after a twenty minute fight...pulled out the split ring on the business end of the Moonshine spoon. That one really hurt. Sat morning was perfect for the offshore run. Got one mile out had an electrical gremlin disguised as a fuel issue. Kudos to the Olcott volunteer firefighters who towed us back in with professionalism. No Boat US operators or private tows available. Boat US dodged a $ bullet on that one I think I will ask them to send a check to the firehouse as a donation. Jim at The Boat Doctor got my electrical problem straigtened out asap. Put it on the trailer, hauled it to Jim, he chased current for twenty minutes and away we went. Thanks Jim! Sat. afternoon fished inshore with confidence after Fridays result. Not happening, a couple small kings. Went offshore to 520, 28/29 line. Things got rough quick but caught and released two nice steelies and a kept a 8lb. king before having to turn back inside. All on black dipsy fished 159-180 out, I forget the spoon colors. Sunday morning made the tactical error of trying inside again. Offshore was rough but would have been possible. Strong southerlies. Caught a small but keeper king and a little brownie. A couple of shakers too. The offshore bite was the best from what we could gather. Lots of big steelies mixed with occasional juvenile kings or a mature. Good bait inshore, some good browns were taken in about 60 fow. Temp. on bottom in 120 - 80 fow was 48-52. Fish we cleaned were eating smelt with a healthy smattering of alewives mixed in. We observed plenty of bait tight to the bottom and figured it was the smelt. We had a great time but could have been more productive offshore with better luck on our side.
  10. Thanks for report Kgone I will avenge you with the matures when I make the pilgrimage from Cleveland to Olcott on Wed. Sounds like I'll be fishin' deep. Anyone got a report off the Bar?
  11. If you are docked at Newfane I will be there this Wed.-Sun. and could use an extra net. I'll look for you at the docks maybe you will still have it available. Jarrett
  12. Thanks gonna be up in Olcott this Wed.-Sun. Very helpful!
  13. TNX...googling how to tie the overhand loop knot asap.
  14. I'm prepping for the annual Olcott pilgrimage August 5-8. I was thinking about my flasher/fly connection and the proper action for the fly. Would a single snap from fly leader to flasher be the best way to put action on the trailing fly? Would the the fly "whip" more while the swivel on the front end of the flasher handle any line twist? Or is the snap swivel connection the way to go? Flasher/fly game is pretty new to me so pardon the potentially stupid question. Jarrett
  15. Thanks Gill that's some interesting migration info. We don't have any upwellings in bathtub Erie so I guess I better pay closer attention to the wind direction when fishing off Olcott. I haven't factored that into a plan of attack before. Just one more variable to plug into the equation.
  16. Does the cold water flow opposite of the surface currents, i.e. a strong southerly wind will blow the warm water towards Canada and draw the cold water in towards the American shoreline?
  17. I'm an Erie guy who fishes Ontario twice a year from Dalhousie (spring) and Olcott (late summer). I see that the Canadian north shore is having a nice streak of big fish. In some posts anglers refer to the movement of Kings from North to South as the season goes on. Is there any known migration route that the fish take in the Lake? Are the Canadian waters more attractive to Kingers in the early summer? I love fisheries biology and I'm curious what insight any of you veterans have on how these fish migrate or whether they stick around their "home" ports.
  18. I've always had good luck with Lowrance products. Broken transducer but it was old. The Mark 5 pro is my next upgrade for a back up finder/transom viewing. I also thought its features were well ahead of the competition for the price.
  19. Blacks here with braid on rigger lines albrighted to about 30' flouro at the business end. The braid's sensitivity lets you see a small shaker and the black release won't trip when the rod is cranked down, so long as you set the tension properly. When fleas are bad sometimes I have to revert to mono.
  20. Oh that post! Thanks Ray. Never heard of an ultrasonic carb cleaning before...sounds cool.
  21. I bought a Michigan Wheel Apollo stainless steel four blade 14 3/8 x 18 pitch new this past springtime. Great perfoming prop, good bite and docking manueverability with good top end. Used about a dozen times. No dings to speak of. Uses standard Flow-Torq or XHS square hub kit (not included). Problem is I need a 15 pitch to get my old chevy 305 to spin the correct rpms at WOT. I'm replacing the 18 pitch with a 15 x 15p Powertech ele (Michigan Wheel doesn't make a 15 p stainless four blade or thats what I'd go with). I have the box and original invoice from Prop MD. $190 shipped regular mail to your door. Paypal please or local pickup if you happen to be an Ohio LOU member like myself.
