    With fewer birds being spotted this year I was happy to take this bird yesterday. 8” beard but 1” spurs.

    With knee replacement this summer I didn’t fish nearly as much as usual but did get out with the full moon and was happy to see the fish are still catchable.

    Finally made a solo trip after knee replacement. Had to do some searching but finally got my limit before the rain.

    Fished a few more times with other boys and caught enough for a good fish fry and then went to catch and release.

    I took my grandsons to a dock fishing last night and to Butterfield in my boat this morning. We had some success and smiling faces.

    Interesting that the river walleye population seems to be doing well. From what I see the river fish feed mostly on gobies rather than alewives. I wonder if this has anything to do with the difference. I find few alewives but many gobies in river walleyes stomachs.

    The meeting was pretty chaotic. Acoustics were awful and people were pretty rude in over talking the presenters. It appeared most wanted a walleye stocking program which DEC said isn’t a viable option and would not be effective over the large area. DEC is looking at spawning habitat enhancement and perhaps a change in limits. About the only consensus is that the walleye numbers in the eastern basin is down.

    I don’t have side imaging. Down imaging shows the bait well. Fish the flat edges along Channel markers in 30-45 fow. If you see bait work that area. I mostly troll against the current using heavy bottom bouncers and stick baits. I’m currently recovering from knee replacement so they get a break from me for a few weeks.
