Hunted with two good friends this morning. Most birds were flying over high and headed south. Only 4 small groups totaling 16 birds even gave us a swing. Had two young watchers and one young shooter with us on Friday. 12 year old got his first goose and two with bands. Today we had a very good shoot and ended up with 41. Hopefully a couple more shoots in last two days of early season. The dog did a great job!

Been a spotty year for me. Still putting fish in the boat but hitting lots spots to find some fish. Most of buoy markers are on drop offs and often have fish. I generally troll 25-55 fow. Last night nothing shallow. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Fished the river with a former student who just retired from military. Nice catching up and reminiscing about old times. Had a tough time landing them and went 3 for 7. Nothing shallower than 35 fow.

After a quick pass shoot this morning I cleaned and froze these 4 geese. I hate to waste anything so rather than simple breasting them I take the heart, liver, gizzards and leg meat. I ended up with a total of 11lb.10oz of meat. 7lb2oz of breast, 4lb1oz of legs, gizzards, and hearts (which I’m grind into sausage), and 8oz of liver (to make pate). You nearly double the total meat by utilizing it all and the ground meat can be turned into many different tasty treats.
