  1. Nice report Ryan. I fished Butterfield and caught a limit of largemouth this morning and am headed to the Lake for browns and lakers tomorrow.http://www.lakeontariounited.com/fishing-hunting/index.php?app=nexus&module=promotion&section=adclick&id=16
  2. Nice bird for your first Tom. Congrats.
  3. Had a nice morning fishing the river this morning. Caught a bunch of quality smallmouths with largest one 20 1/4". Fish were still in the shallows.
  4. I went back by myself today and caught some on the popper but ended up with 40 mostly on 2" Berkley minnow below a bobber. my wife must have bad luck.
  5. After having had several very successful outings I talked my wife into going with me after church this afternoon. We never caught a keeper! They seemed to disappear over night!
  6. After fishing walleyes, browns and salmon it's nice to fish a small lake and not see another boat. We had a loon swim under the boat and saw an Osprey and a mature bald eagle this morning. Very relaxing morning.
  7. The bluegill bite is really on. Beautiful fish and all caught on fly rod with poppers. Fish are along the deep edge of the weed beds and are very aggressive. We caught 50 in two hours this morning. Lots of fun and great to eat.
  8. Fly rod is definitely a fun way to go. I also caught a couple bass, perch, rock bass, and crappie. I hear Honeoye is good for walleye. When I was a kid we use to catch huge red bellied sun fish their on red wigglers we dug from the apple pressings at a cider mill.
  9. I fished a small Indian River Lake with my fly rod this afternoon. Sunfish were shallow on the beds and bluegills were on the outside weed edges. Fish were very cooperative taking both the popper and the bead head nymph dropper. I caught fish of all sizes but plenty of nice ones to eat and freeze. It really is a blast to catch them this time of year.
  10. Finally got nice Tom on a foggy morning this morning. 9 1/4" beard.
  11. After some colder weather last week I hit the water yesterday and we caught 28 crappies and some gills They are still in the shallows..
  12. Thanks for the report I haven't been down in a couple weeks but it's good to get an idea what's happening.
  13. Hit them again today. Thirty crappies and 24 gills.
  14. Joe, Love that asparagus I may throw in some crappies that I catch this afternoon and also a rhubarb pie. Fin and feather! Doesn't get much better than that.
  15. Hope this isn't offensive to anyone but to me it's a rite of spring.

    Crappie

My wife and I fished a couple hours on an Indian River Lake and caught a nice bunch of crappies.
  17. I was thinking of going to Lisbon this week. Lots of guys from Alex Bay hit it opening weekend.
  18. Losing a great hunting friend is like loosing a great hunting dog. Both are impossible to replace and will always be fondly remembered. My condolences.
  19. Fished Quinte Sat. and Sunday with a gang of 14 fisherman in 5 boats. We ended up with a good fish fry Sat. night and enough walleyes for everyone to bring home their legal limit. It definitely was a slower bite this spring with worms and spinners taking the fish. Sunday was particularly slow with high pressure, light winds and blue sky. Mostly smaller fish with a few in the 3-3 1/2 lb. range. Good to catch up with the gang again.
  20. Good advice given. I use a small weighted float and 4-6 pound test line. 1/16-1/64 oz. jig with a minnow. Sometimes I put a tube jig on for added color and size but still use minnow and sometimes use Berkley 1" gulp minnow or 2" power bait. Many times I fish two and sometimes three rods varying the jig depth from 1-4 feet or more to find what they want. This allows lots of experimenting till you find what they want and then it's general game on. Water temps. are just about spot on now for good crappie activity and with the warm weather the action should really heat up.
  21. Sounds like a great hunt and from personal experience I'm pretty certain you were more excited than your daughter. She'll never forget it!
  22. I fished yesterday and kept around 10 crappie. Not fast and furious but they are starting to hit as water temperatures approach 60 degrees.
  23. I believe there was a good run and we were too late.
  24. Guess I'll stay up this way at least we're getting some quality fish.
