  1. Well thank you for all your advice!! It was the Transducer as the graph now marks fish as it used to!! Thanks again and tight lines!!
  2. Well I just installed the transducer and will drop the boat in the water this week-end. Cost 109.00 on Amazon. I'll let you know the verdict then. I'll either be a happy fisherman or just a pissed off, head scratchin, guy without a graph! Still not crazy about spending another 100 bucks on a 2 year old unit that wasn't cheap to begin with.
  3. Thanks for the input guys, Looks like i'll be ordering one very soon. Been frustrating to say the least, I'll keep you posted how it works after I swap it out. Thanks again and best of luck this year!
  4. I have a Hummingbird 788ci hd di graph and it stopped marking fish last season.I still get top and bottom definition and can adjust settings to increase /decrease clutter, it marks the balls too, but still no fish. Any one out there with a similar unit that could shed some light on what might be the problem? I could try another transducer but would hate to waste 120 bucks if that's not the problem. Thanks guys.
  5. Fishing to me brings back the joy, happiness and peace of mind that all the daily BS drains out of ya!

  6. If your deal falls thru, im interested thanks. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. Thanks guys, makes sense, So I guees there's no issues with the way it preformed and that makes me feel more comfortable about the potential purchase of the boat.
  8. I recently took a test ride on a 25 ft fishing boat for sale in the area. It has an older autopilot on it with a 2011 honda 9.9 kicker 4 stroke. The autopilot works well enough when going with the waves or slightly traversing them, but when he tried to head dead into 2-2/2 footers, it would not hold course. The question I have, is this normal or sould it function dead on into the waves as well?? Seems to me it should work into the waves as well but i'm not that familiar with them and dont know thier limitations. Any insight into this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and tight lines... 9. One thing I noticed right away is how loud the clickers are in theses reels, and they both appear to function fine. I think your correct on testing the reels first, I'm a big advocate of, ''if it aint broke, don't fix it''. They both came spooled with old lead core and I was planning to make up a couple of copper rigs with them. Hopefully they are a good choice for that. Now I just need to pick out a good rod for th job, any suggestions? I think I remember reading somewhere on the forum that copper is softer and no special tip is required on the rod? I'll look into it more before I make my choice. Thanks so much for the help!! DTL
  10. Hey guys, I just picked up a couple of used Catalina 45's and they seem to be in good shape at first glance. The previos owner said I might want to go thru them both as they are about 3 seasons old. Drags? Iv'e never taken one of these apart and don't know if I should even try. I was wondering who works on these around the Buffalo/Rochester area? Or is this something I can do without too much trouble? What is usually done or replaced, if anything when they are ''gone thru'' and what can I expect to spend on each reel? As always, any advice is greatly appreciated. DTL
  11. Thanks for the Link Big Dave, I think I need to invest in a vise. Anyone have any knowledge on good brands that are reasonably priced?
  12. Thanks for you help guys, it's much appreciated!! I was at the LOTSA show over the weekend and also decided to start making my own fly harnesses. I got enough components from all the vendors for a bunch. I was going to use 50 lb fluorcarbon and the guys at Blood Run, said they normally used 40, but 50 would work too. What # would you guys suggest? Iv'e tied many worm harnesses before and these look very similar, any rule of thumb on hook placement also? Thanks again. Warren
  13. Ok guys, I really could use some old-wise input on this one being I'm still somewhat of a rookie. Iv'e read several posts lately that reccomend running your spinny/fly combo of the divers and lures off the riggers. Is this the best practice? and if it is, what's the reasoning behind it? Is it just a tangle issue or something else in addition to that? Thanks for you help.
