  1. See now the burbot that come from oak orchard are great. I realy think that the genesee river has alot to do with how the burbot tast. A good number of them burbot use that river for a good part of the year. Dont know but yes most around here are crap!!! Bradocks and long pond were ok. The bay will prob be muddy though.
  2. Good luck bud, Your next trip you will have some new gear!!!
  3. Kappy lots of northerns now. The burbot can go either way. This will sound strange but if you open there mouth and smell them you can tell how they will taste. If they smell like mud they will taste like it, most likely a local fish. If they smell clean they are from the lake and ok. By may they are all crap. Dont smell them out in the open, hide when you do it!! Oh and my balls blew away!!!!
  4. Same here Scott. Thank you very much and good fishing to you. Save me some walleye!!!
  5. Ultimate tip down for perch, crappie and walleye. Unique balance system for suspending bait and fine tuning sensitivity. You will not find a better tip down for the price. This is a old post but I continue to make them as of 12/15/2012. If interested or questions please call. They are 85 dollars for a set of five. Thats five bases and five rods.Shipping available 15 dollars a set. JIM@585-490-4246
  6. I fished on a long pond tonight from 3:00 till just after dark. It was hands down the worst wind I have ever fished in. Built wind blocks for the polar tip-ups from slush. Had 5 flags and managed 2 northerns and one burbot. Just about every car that went by had someone hanging out the window yelling how nuts I was. Oh well now I can say I ice fished in 40 mile hour winds on purpose Oh and the fish, northerns both around 6 pounds and the burbot around 4 pounds.
  7. There is lots of ice fishing left. The cold is gonna lock it up. Just watch and use your head. I fished tonight in this wind on long pond and the first 5-10 feet from shore was soft but lots of good ice still.
  8. Any contraption with that rig hanging below the ice would have caught them same fish. Dont get me wrong they look great and are a great idea, and the way they pack up is great too. But when it comes to fishing deep water and cold conditions on windy days they do not perform. I rigged mine with #8 so the line will not slip between the reel and frame and use a #4 pound leader. But they sit on my shelf. Its a pain in the can when you have to stop and remove the reel and get the tangle out. They put alot of thought into them and have a great idea but some things are just not user friendly. Just my 2 cents. Mine are still for sale.
  9. Jimski2 I have a set of them and hate them!! The reels are so small and the line gets caught between the reel and the frame all the time. They are heavy and when the wind blows the rod will come off the base. You whant to buy mine, they are the orange set. Got them two years ago fished three or for times with them.
  10. Check out the wifes 16 inch crappie.
  11. Sets ready to go!!! Get them now they will be limited again this year. Set of five for 75.00, shipping available for extra 15.00. Theses are the ultimate tip down for perch, crappie and walleye. I have sold hundreds and have been praised with the craftsmanship and quality of my tip downs. They are made with the best components and will give years of hard water use. These tip downs have a balancing wieght system that lets you suspend bait anywere in the water column, ideal for crappie. It also lets you make them extremely snsitive to light biters, so sensitive that you can see a fathead working in 40 plus feet of water. I have been ice fishing for over 30 years and have yet to see a better design. they have HT reels. Bases fold for easy storage in your ice rig. Any questions please feel free to call me, JIM @ 585-490-4246. Sets will not be held, first come first serve. Thank you all and have a SAFE and fun hard water season.

  15. Thats a nice change. When I sell a set to someone I always tell them, make sure the drag is set. My biggest fish on a tip down ever was a 24 pound KING SALMON, yes a king out of the mouth of sandy creek. I snagged her in the eye with the little #6 arberdeen hook and it fought me for 35 minutes on #6 pound. The fish was a female that looked like she couldnt get rid of her eggs. She had some white growth like she had been there since fall. I thought I had the biggest steelie I had ever seen!!!
