Headed up by Waddington in the morning to give it a try. I hope its as good as last Friday if not better. I still wanna get down to the river around the bay some morning and also give it a try my around cape or clayton. It seems like it should start getting good and maybe a little shallower fishing.

Nice eye Kevin we were down there to, Myself ,wife and my daughter we were in the red tyee I think I see you go by with the Alaskan with a console and like a olive green color, we had just started to fish by cherry. We caught some nice bass smallies about 3 to 4 pounders. It was a beautiful night we stayed till about 9 pm. I have not been down there yet in the morning maybe sunday if I can find someone to go. I got a couple of guys that want to go and they should be home from hunting camp sat afternoon. I fished up by Waddington this morning we kept 3 eyes 18,19, and a 21 and missed probably 4 others. Definitely a lot different than fishing from clayton to krings for some reason, probably the stocking program they have helps and a lot less boat traffic.

1996 Nissan 9.9 two stroke outboard, electric start, long shaft, tiller, runs excellent in great shape. These were prop rated at 17.3 hp. Perfect for all the Indian River lakes with a 10hp limit. Also comes with a 6 gal fuel tank. $800 these are a very hard to find motor do to the prop rating.Would also make a good kicker motor.(315)523-2312 Thanks

Good catch. Went out Friday for eyes didn't fair to well 2 boats 5 eyes on the Lake O. Caught several bass, wind was pretty good that day. I know a couple guys that fished out there the week before, they went two days in a row, they did real well 19 eyes rangeing from 6 to 9 lbs. hoping to get out a few more times.

I like to use a Quantum 6'6med lite or a 6'6 med both spooled with power pro 15 lbs, 4 lbs dia. with a 6 foot leader of 10 or 12lbs biggame I very seldom use less than 1/2 oz weither it is a jig or spoon. Would like to try fluorocarbon someday just don't know that much about it. I would also like to try a St.Croix rod they claim there is a big difference and know there is in the price. My reels are the smallest Fleuger reels, I cant think of the model number.

Wondered what everyones favorite jigging rod is for soft water fishing as far as brand, length, and action. Thanks also, braid w/ fluorocarbon leader or straight mono.

A friend of mine knows a guy from tupper that does very well on the walleyes through the ice I will have to ask him if he fishes it much in the summer. I think he grew up in that area ,that whole area is amazing. It is a outdoorsman dream place, would love to live up that way. -
Congrats to your new fishing partner Kevin he will have a good teacher.

Great day Kevin, my buddy said things are starting to pick up on the lake we are supposed to go sometime this week depending on the weather. We had a day similar to yours last year, just about this time of year, also my best day by far 11 eyes and probably 25smallies for total fish. we kept 12 bass and 9 eyes . The smallies out their are huge . That one you guys caught is the biggest one I can say I have ever seen , I have seen quite a few of 4 to 5 out there.

My favorite lure is any one that will catch eyes on that day. My favorite way to fish for them is jig fishing but being stubborn sometime it can make for a long morning or evening, I always try that first then go to worm harness and than crank bait. So as far as my favorite bait would be one of my own custom jig heads with a gulp minnow, 4" moxi or a 4" grub curly tail. I also like bucktails. I don't really have a favorite stickbait or crankbait because I don't like to troll, I no trolling is productive but to me it is boring but I will do it if that is the only way I can get the fish to cooperate. I would also love to try the trolling game at the Bay of Quinte one day in the fall but I would have to try jigging first.

I was wondering if anybody has tried or have had any success on drop shotting walleyes on the river or lakes . I would like to try it. Thanks

Gonna try the rigger out tonight got a rod all set up with homemade release also I will try and send a picture of the contraption should work basically holding release to main line down with weight we will see might have to do something different with eyelit that is gonna take the punishment from weight hanging straight off it . here is some pictures.

Was wondering if I could use the heavy end where the reel hooks on up to first eye on pole lined with 60 to 80 lbs braid would work for a down rigger . I was thinking about a bottom bouncer wire with homemade weights probably nothing over 4 lbs, the reel would be a line counter so you know how deep you were, on the other side of the bottom bouncer wire hook the release, I am thinking this would work good and make use of some old broken pole that we all have laying around, hopefully the wouldnt count it a line for fishing. Let me know what you think. I am thinking river and small lake use I suppose you could use it on big water also.

That is what I was doing last night start out in 30 to 35 and drift out to about 70 fow, just hard to keep in contact with bottom depending where you are on the river do to current . I hate getting snagged up but at least you know your on the bottom.
-
Kevin I have some 1 oz bucktails do you think they are heavy enough, I know it is gonna depend on the current , I love to jig fish but I hate it when I cant tell where bottom is . Thanks

Fished the river last night didn't score on any eyes tried pretty much everything . I started out with wormharness, then switched to jigging spoon and also bucktail jigs, the last two passes even tried trolling stickbaits . I did catch several small and rock bass. and a few gobies. better than not catching anything. I see a lot more boats fishing last night than I think I have ever seen. I fished four about 4 hours got done at 11pm. Hopefully try again tonight.
