  1. Thanks for the info Kevin. I am hoping to go down there fri night and possibly sat morning just waiting for a buddy to let me know if he can go. I will let you know what the report is if I go maybe be headed for Coles creek shortly if I fish up there I will post.
  2. Way to go again Kevin, what were you using when you were casting a crank bait or jig just curious. I have never tried throwing a crank bait on the river but have tossed many of jigs and spoons.
  3. They will definitely wear the arm and the wrist out. It is also hard to believe how hard it is on the elbow. After a night of three or four hours my elbow probably hurts more than the other two mentioned , I also have to pour some more heavy BB maybe tomorrow night after work. Good luck in the AM if you go Kevin, wish i was going also instead of work.
  4. Way to go Kevin, I would have to agree on you said best morning you have had on the river. I fished last night and it was my best ever I boated 5 fish in a hour in a half, with 3 keepers and left two for seed that came up short a 27",26" and a 18 1/4, still hoping to bump into you before the summer is over. Good luck fishing thanks for your advice very helpful.

I am only working tues.and wed. this week and taking a little time off hopefully be able to get after them again. I am gonna try up by coles creek towards the end of the week weather permitting.

    Finally

Hit the river tonight with low expectations due to pirates weekend. I started fishing around 7:30 first short troll landed one eye 26" thought well it might not be to bad of night after all, continued the troll landed huge smallie around 4lbs. The next pass tried a worm harness with current and nothing, got turned around went to my rapala with my homemade 9oz. BB and it happed again one around 18 1/4 . Tried jigging with spoon on the way back down with current got one right off the bat around 17 1/2 threw it back was about to the end of the drift and jigged another about the same size threw it back as well. I got tured back around put out the BB and rapala 1/2 way through the troll landed one 27" was an exceptional night in my book had my limit by 9:05 threw two back and lost one on the harness plus 1 small mouth.
  9. Give Martins a call ask for Beaver or Mike and ask them, they are brothers and own Martins Marina 315-654-3104 they could tell you if they have the good stuff non-ethanol
  10. Way to go Kevin. Got a 4 day weekend hoping to get down there a couple times.
  11. Kevin is 100% on what he says on fishing down there is very different and difficult than any other places that I have fished for eyes mainly because of the current and when I go there is a lot of boat traffic, I need to try and go in the morning. The current alone is a challenge let alone trying to do it in the dark. I am know where near as successful as him but he pays his dues. I fiished tonight and boated one eye around 20" caught it jigging with a 1oz spoon in 40 fow I also caught several smallies most of them on a harness with 6 oz bb. Kevin I also tried my 9.5 oz bb with my favorite rapala in the real heavy current spot that lasted about 150 yards and got snagged, that is always nice trying to get boat in reverse or turned around to try to get it out espically in the dark and I mean dark. I did manage to save everything when I brought it in also had a huge ball of zebra muscles attached. Good Luck just thought I would give you a little report.
  12. Way to go kevin ,nice hog for this time of year. I still have not been able to get away to try for the eyes in about 3 weeks, did make it down there sat. late morning with the wife and daughter but didn't do much fishing just had a little time so we spent a few hours trying to beat the rain that never came.
  13. It sounds like you had a morning like most of my previous trips Kevin. I am sure it will turn back on for you because you pay your dues and put a lot of time into fishing. Most of us just wish we could go and do half as much and half as good as you do on your good day. I am not trying to wish my life away but looking forward to the day I can retire and do what I want when I want.
  14. Good luck on the salmon kevin. Like I said I am gonna try and get down there some morning if possible this weekend,if not maybe next weekend I have a 4 day weekend fri. thru mon. hopefully I can find someone to go then.
  15. Kevin nice job on the eyes once again. I am gonna try it again fri night but I am gonna leave later so maybe that will help with the boat traffic. If I can get someone to go,I am gonna try and get out one morning this weekend but no guarantees. I will sure be looking for you if I ever make it down there to visit. Hope to see ya down there one of these weekends. Good luck even no you don't need it.
  16. Way to go Kevin nice batch of eyes.
  17. Fished tonight from about 6:30 til around 9:30 caught around a 6lbs northern 2 smallies and 1 gobie. They were allcaught on a homemade worm harness green with gold French blade. I never hooked a walleye tried several spots boat traffic was heavier than normal for a fri. night also tried BB with # 11 black and gold rapala never caught a fish on that set up all fish were taken in around 30 to 45 fow. I would troll with current with a 3oz BB and harness then troll against the current with around 6oz BB and rapala. Try and keep you posted on the nite bite when I start doing something with the eyes. Good luck
  18. fish down there as often as I can. It is different from small lake for sure. I have had my best trips on bottom bouncers and a worm harness even though I would much rather jig for walleys. I have just stared trying Kevins method of BB with a crankbait. I will be going tonight I will keep you posted with what I used if I have any luck. Just when you think you got it figured out down there it throws you a curve and it seems like you have to start right from scratch and learn all over. Good luck
  19. Way to go Kevin. I never made it down there other than fri. night to watch the fire works. I am hoping to go down thurs. night and fri. night and hopefully one morning over the weekend. I will let you know how I do when I get a chance to go . It looks like they are here though, hopefully be a good year.
  20. Thanks mostlymuskie for posting pictures that is what I thought just wasn't sure on blade style. I will have to try the willow styea try we mostly use Colorado or French in silver or gold just depending on bead color and water clarity. Again Thanks. I had a guy that fishes Oneida alot tell me he uses silver hammered Colorado more rigging style than bottom bouncing.
  21. I don't want to sound stupid mostlymuskies but what is the 3-d thumper blade and are you able to post a picture of one. Was also wondering what style as far as Colorado, french blade etc...I think I know what our talking about but not sure,I am thinking it is the 3d image ones. thanks I fish the st.lawrence river when I get time. It seems like this year every time I make plans to go it never works out. Thanks
