Gave it a honest try this morning , water higher than I have seen it in along time, two gobys and lots of floating debris. Nice morning on the river even no the fish didn't cooperate. Tried trolling bb and also jigged a few spots.

Well didn't make it down today or tonight like I wanted to. With the way the weather has been had to get things done around the house. I will be down there in the morning for sure and try and get some of those eyes.
  5. Way to go Kevin and Prof T . I have not been down to the river in a week or two due to weather and graduations, I am hoping to try it Thursday morning weather permitting and most of the weekend. I will let you know how I fair, maybe run into you one of the mornings or evenings, tight lines and good luck, keep them coming in.

Way to go Prof T, I use 30 lb power pro braid with 17lb floro leader on open face reel. For trolling I use the same set up but on a small Diawa line counter reel.
  7. Kevin, I am trying to remember if the water temp is colder than normal, I am thinking it should be in mid 60's.to upper.

    Skunked SLR

I new it was gonna be a tough night because of the boat traffic and the poker run today but after reading Kevins post and Prof T earlier in the week this would be my first chance to get out on the river and give it a try. Tried trolling 4 diff. spots with 9 oz BB and rapala and also tried worm harness and jigging. I did manage to jig 4 gobys in about 65 to 70 fow. I did all my trolling in 30 to 45 fow. To me the water seems to be cold for this time of year, I fished Lisbon opening day near the port and the water was 50 degrees then tonight the river was 56.
  9. Nice job on the eyes. It is really a total different type of fishing, tell people all the time I have to use 9 to 12 oz and they think I am crazy.
  10. Nice job once again Kevin. Fished Lake O yesterday morning and only caught one perch seen one eye boated, was told it died out after Friday.
  11. Great job Kevin was hoping to get down there this weekend and it didn't happen looking like next weekend for sure 4 dayer.
  12. Way to go Kevin, have not been opening weekend. The weather has not been the greatest along with the wind on the weekends. Hoping to get out on the river at some point this weekend and try it if not next weekend for sure 4 day weekend. Been told has picked up around the Berg and Waddington area.
  13. Hoping to hit the river this weekend also. I think we are still 3 or 4 weeks out before we will see some decent mornings and nights. From my past experience. I have tried but for what ever reason it may be seems like end June first part of July is when it gets going. I will also post results when I get out.

    LOTI

Was on the river between fishers landing and the bay sat. afternoon with the family just to get out, the channel was 49 to 50 degrees . I didn't get into any of the shallower bay has to be a little warmer.
  15. My mother and father in law did very well late morning, early afternoon on the crappies, I am thinking when the wind was the strongest makes for a nice drift you can cover a lot of ground. All caught on tube jigs and bobbers over weed bed 6 to 8 fow.
  16. Thanks for the info Kevin I just thought I missed it because I talked to a few guys that said it was hot over the weekend and I couldn't believe how fast it shut down.
  17. Fished a Indian River lake this morning from 5;30 till about 8;30 for some big crappies tried along weed edges, rock shore line and also some down trees along the shore line. We did manage to catch a few smallies, rock bass and had one crappie on and lost it at the boat . I think we might have missed the good spring bite by alittle. The water seemed to be fairly warm, thinking they might have moved deeper will have to give it another shot some time.
  18. Good luck in the AM Kevin I am headed to one of our indian river lakes to see if I can get into some of them big thick crappies. I am hoping to leave early. I will keep you posted.
  19. It is a lot nicer having your own, I know how you feel, I am always asked to go with other people but it is so much easier to take my own boat because I have everything in it and you don't have to figure what all to take and I also like to go as early as I want to and leave when I want to. I do like fishing with other people but it just seems to be easier this way.
  20. Kevin talked to a couple guys today they fished the morning bite 3 guys 5 keeper fish said it was there best day yet. They are fishing all week hoping the weather will help pick things up, water still pretty cold. They have been there since sat morning. I ran into another guy from Theresa said they fished sat 6 guys and never put a walleye in the boat , they might have caught a smallmouth or two. Hoping to get back up there fri or sat.
  21. It happens every year the true sportsman will let the breeders go back and keep the smaller ones to eat there is nothing you can do about it, it's up to NYS and the sportsman and with that said it will probably never happen. I could never understand also American side 3 fish 18" limit Canadian side depending on lic. 4 fish any size just don't make since. How many people do you think camp up there and locals buy both lic. and get over there limit of fish every day when the fish are biting that does not help the fishing either.
  22. Had to really work for them but ended up with our limit. Vertical jigging minnows. 18" to 21" inchers
