Just a heads up, Arctic armor isn't USCG approved so you still need a proper pfd, however they are still nice to have.

When I fish cold weather I launch using my neoprene chest waders then just put on my waterfowl bibs or ski snowpants and either my duck parka or ski jacket. Either will keep me warm and block wind/rain/snow. Moisture wicking base layers are crucial. I also like to wear my life jacket under my jacket, easier to move around in for me.

I've caught em on a white senko on a regular jighead, lakers aren't very pick though. I'm sure dropshotting would work but a regular jighead is probably an easier and more effective method

Freshwater- trolled a dipsy with a spoon, stick bait on an inline board and a spoon on lead core. Then jigged with a jig and plastic Ended up 1/3 with one small lakers and 2 other hits on the dipsey. Gave up trolling because the leaves and debris were a pain. Jigged for about an hour and got 2 big smallmouths 5-6# and another 6-7# laker. And wayne, the coldwater reels aren't worth the money in my opinion, The counter on this one only works when going out and if you change the drag setting you have to pull some line out in order for the new tension level to kick in. I have cheap magda pro's and cabelas depthmasters that I have more faith in.

Well after a nice suntan session in tree this morning I figured that fishing this afternoon would likely be much more enjoyable and productive. Launched the boat at around 1 and headed to a shoal area we had pounded the lakers pretty good at about a month or so ago. Dropped down my favorite 1oz glow jig with a 4" white berkley ripple Shad and had Hit before it hit bottom, a few moments later a nice small mouth broke the surface, probably a 4-5 pounder. The next 2 hours were pretty much nonstop action with tons of smallies and surprisingly only a few lakers. Fished 2 rods, one with jig and plastic and one with a 3/4oz blade bait. Temps were about 45, great afternoon on the water. Some screen shots as well.

with that much current I doubt you'd want anything less than a 24v system or at least a 12v system with 2 batteries

it's getting better, still tons of floating weeds but the it's only going to get better as the water cools. I think I saw a surface temp of 69 last sunday, with this colder weather it should cool down quick

For me my walleye season starts out trolling reef runners in the spring at around 1.5-2, after that I go to smaller shad style baits at around 2-2.3, then in the summer its usually spinners at around 1.5 and then the process reverses in the fall until ice up

down 40' over 60' only about 15' back from the ball. Bait clouds everywhere today and fish all over, this one hit right in the middle of a bait cloud so thick it blanked out the screen. Looks like I have some experimenting to do when it comes to the eyes. I have a hard time getting my raps to run right over 2.5 mph, looks like I might have to go through and tune em all one of these days if it's slow.
