  1. Oswego is about two and a half maybe 3 hours from Albany. There's cheaper places to stay close to the launch in Oswego than Mexico and the launch is much cleaner like BigWilly said.
  2. Just got done smoking a bunch of venison/pork kielbasa and some sausage bacon will be up next in a couple weeks.
  3. I live on the hill above wrights a bunch of people fishing today still have just the one dock in but it's wide open.
  4. What's the beam on the boat? 9'6?
  5. Where are they from? My family had 2 other fish done and if that brown is bad (which it may be but comparably its about 1000x better than the other two maybe that's what made me think it was that good lol) I'll get some pictures of these. Maybe it's worth it to head out towards the lake to have fish like this done. I'm not really big into fish mounts but may need to know them if a big Steelie or a LOC King comes along.
  6. Also having hunted the NW Montana area several times its unarguable the impact that the wolves have had on the deer and elk populations. Even from the first time I went, 2007, through the last, 2013, the impact was very noticeable. The pictures from the early 90s when my dad and uncle started hunting up there show an even more drastic impact. In 2005 or so my uncle took an undeniable picture of a wolf on the side of the road and FWP denied it flat out. In 2009 when I was there FWP was going to thin out a pack that a sheep farmer was knowingly having trouble with, they stated that they knew there was 19 wolves in that pack. The first night they killed 23 and there was 15 more in the field the next night. Montana used to be a tough state to get a tag in with the lottery system for non residents, now they don't even sell out of tags. If that doesn't show a problem then I don't know what does. There's more to the state than just the park and the wolves have caused a huge financial impact to businesses throughout.
  7. Just giving him some input on a taxidermist in the capital region because there are very few that are good around here (especially on trout and salmon) and was happy with the job on this particular fish. The gold on the fishes belly is a little much but much less vibrant on a darker back drop.
  8. He painted it off pictures I had of the fish and it looks nearly identical. Surprisingly enough not all fish look exactly the same. I'll see if I can find the pic he used.
  9. I don't know if you're from the Lake George area but Joe Mirra in Saratoga does a real good job. Did this skin mount Oak Orchard brown a few years back for me.
  10. That's one thing I hear mixed reviews on with Costa, go on their Facebook page and every other post on there is someone having a bad experience with their customer service and then the next one says how great they were.
  11. Anyone else have trouble with loading these episodes? It seems like no matter where I am the episode will run for 5 minutes then load for 3 over and over. Tried pausing it and letting it go and it'll only load out so far
  12. If they're 400G they should be glass unless I'm mistaken on the labeling of the lenses. Just wondering how they got scratched, I've dropped my 580p Saltbreaks like 500 times on the lenses and they have no scratching which I'm very surprised/happy with. The actual lens scratching or the reflective coating?
  13. I'll go halves with little Gray well have wrights build us a slip
  14. There are a lot of large coyotes in the Albany area. I grew up about 20 minutes east of Saratoga and live 15 minutes north of lake George now. I've also seen wolves up close alive and dead in Montana and there is definitely an easy distinction between the two. The nose on wolves doesn't have that tapered appearance and has more of a lab like big round nose pad where most coyotes I've seen have a more Doberman looking skinny pointy nose. I've also read quite a few different articles and journals about the Adirondack coyotes and they have a lot more timberwolf in them than almost any other coyote population in the country. I'm not an expert just guessing that's a large male coyote without the manginess were used to.
  15. I saw more bucks than does this year in a spot I usually see a ton of does. So that shows what problem we have.
  16. I sent in my two cents as well. I think a lot of people will be sending in emails after this last deer season.
  17. As far as the out drive goes the gears and shaft splines make it easy to tell as the low RPMs cause the gears and splines to lose contact and come back together whereas normal boaters get up on plane and go.
  18. I'm gonna have to put an ad like that in the local paper after this year. Hunted hard all of bow and first week of rifle but as JakeyBaby said after that the lack of deer sightings and the weather discouraged me from putting in much more time. Congrats to everyone who go the one they were after and once again this was an awesome and very informational thread!
  19. Congrats man! You definitely put some hard time in this year. Just shows you can't get discouraged doing this because it can happen at any time.
  20. Haven't hunted my spot in 8F since opening day in hopes that the surrounding pressure will push quite a few deer onto the "safe zone". Gonna be out there next weekend. I've seen a lot of big deer killed the last week of the season in the past.
  21. Should be able to go on DEC's website. I'd be surprised to find one now, they're usually August-September
  22. Winds blowing about 90mph in circles here. I think the deer are smarter than me and are staying in bed.
  23. Just saw a doe and shooter buck that I had kind of patterned this last week of bow season. He'd come to the clearing down the same trail every evening sit just before dark. Wind was perfect I checked when "legal" light was if he came through late. 20 minutes before dark I see him in the treeline and he just walks around the clearing about 5 yards in the whole time. The big big buck here did basically the same thing to me opening day of Buck/bow. I guess that's the theme for my season.
