With the mono I find that holding a section a flea covered line between your hands tightly and using your thumb or forefinger to snap or pluck the line sharply will clear them off.

I was at the marina yesterday when they were pulling the video. I did not see it all but there is a clip of some fireworks being launched from a boat in a slip at one end of the marina. Shortly after there is video of the fire breaking out on my dock. There is also a head shot captured of the owner/passenger of the boat launching fireworks. The breeze that night was moving in the proper direction to push the fireworks towards my dock. I'm sure a little investigation will reveal whether electrical problems of some sort or fireworks caused the fire. I'm just waiting to see how it plays out. The bottom line is these people probably don't have insurance and if they did the insurance company probably won't cover their asses on an event like this. So either my insurance company will cover or I will have to sue the boat owner. I'm guessing suing the boat owner will yield nothing though. Sutter's has always treated me very well and I am sure they will do their utmost to get this ironed out. The loose irony of it all is that the jackasses were in my old slip from 5 years ago. I moved out of it when I got this boat because it was too shallow. I think the salmon pooled their money and hired this guy.

So this is what happens when some ************ thinks launching fireworks in a marina full off gas tanks and canvas is a smart idea. The boat next to me is still at the bottom and the one next to that has already been pulled up. Mine just looks like a marshmallow at a camp out. Just did bellows. gimball bearing and brand new lower gear case, which isn't even broken in yet. Done for season and maybe for good. WTF!

Well the verdict is in. Apparently my lower housing on the stern drive corroded between the exhaust and water jackets. I was pushing exhaust into the incoming water. Took out my brand new water pump too. Hopefully fixed and back in water by next week sometime. Just figured I would update in case someone ran into similar problem.

I have a 1996 4.3 liter that has had some cooling system issues since late last season. I thought it was a Zebra Mussel issue but apparently it wasn't. It will run at a consistent 150 when I keep RPMs below 3200 or so. When I run engine at higher speeds, the temp gauge quickly fluctuates between normal temp (150) and completely cold. After a couple of miles the engine then begins to overheat. I installed a new thermostat last season when the problem started and had the impeller and bellows done last fall as maintenance. The problem existed before and after all of this work was done. I searched and saw some postings other places that indicate a possible water pump problem. I am worried that a faulty head gasket compression seal may be pushing compression into the water jacket. I am hoping I am very wrong on that suspicion. Anyone ever experience or hear of this? Thanks

I saw one of these while backpacking in the High Peaks one morning. It was coming right toward the lean too we were in. Big sucker. I started walking towards it and banged a couple of pans together to shoo it away and it just looked at me with a who the F are you attitude and kept on coming. I stepped back into the lean too and let it pass.

Does anyone know what happened to the people that poached those 60 or 70 something salmon from Burt Dam last year? I think it was Burt dam. If I remember correct, they were Russians. Last I heard there was a court date scheduled but I never heard what the result was.

I just put in an impeller in early '16. I'll just do another. Perch fishing is good in the bay right now so maybe another week or so before I'll pull it and see what I have to deal with. I think I may just have the marina wash it down this year. I don't really need 10 lbs of mussels in the driveway.

Yeah, something got my shifter bellows 4 years back. Boat almost went down. I'm having the bellows and gimble done this winter as a preventative measure against normal wear and tear.

The drive was painted with drive paint the past two seasons. Didn't help this year though. Unfortunately it does not trim far enough up to get the water intake ports out of the water. From what you're saying Brian, it looks like I am also putting another impeller in this year again though.

Zebra Mussel Cooling Issue My out drive got completely enveloped in zebra mussels this year. I have never had any mussel problems before this. Eventually led to temperature issues with engine near the end of the season. Anyone know of any fixes to keep the zebra mussels off of the out drive and why they were suddenly a problem this year? Thanks
