Thompson Gunner 7/30

Thompson Gunner 7/30 Fished out of I-Bay Sunday. Straight out to 190fow and dropped gear. Continued north until around 400fow we started picking up a nice steelhead bite with some small kings mixed in. Moonshine Shelley Snack on the 190 diver was getting all of the bites. After we passed 500fow the bigger kings started and we managed to boat three and drop three. Minion meat rig and spinny on a 240 diver, mag Pro King green/silver on 400 copper and Stinger Caramel Dolphin on the 90 rigger for all the bigger kings boated and lost. Ended up 11th in the SCS. Always a fun tournament! It sucked losing a couple of hours of fishing while the bite was still on to the 50 minute ride down to the south end of I-Bay (still idle only) and then the drive to the weigh in but still better than mowing the lawn. We lost our Subtroll probe on Thursday to a broken cable so we fished the "old fashioned way" all day. Sometimes i wonder if that subtroll isn't more of a distraction than a benefit. I guess I'll find out over the remainder of the season. SCS was great tournament as always. -
Sounds like the drag is worn out. Was the reel used?

X2 on the haywire twist to SPRO but with heat shrink over it, then attach flourocarbon leader.

I installed an 18 watt Coleman kit on my hardtop. Comes with a regulator and some various cabling adapters. Works real well and it seems to take some of the strain off of the kicker charging system when out on the water too. I got it from Bass Pro for around $100.00. You could probably find it cheaper though.

It would be strange for the impeller to just suddenly and completely fail, I think. It might have been a plastic bag or some other crap blocked up the water intake.

If the shark is still available I can pick up this weekend.

Furuno Problem I have been having an intermittent problem with my Furuno 620. Sometimes the depth displayed is incorrect according to the number displayed but the bottom is correctly represented by the screen. The deeper I go the more the difference is. I had the problem at the end of last year, but at the beginning of this season it was OK. Now it is incorrect again. My question is, transducer or head end problem or maybe some sort of ground issue? There is another transducer near the one for the Furuno but even with that unit disconnected I still see the problem. My thought is that if one or the other depth is correct, then the transducer is OK. I don't know enough about how the transducer interfaces with the head end to be certain though. I attached a photo that shows 79 fow on the bottom display but 108 fow on the numerical display. In 20 fow the numbers would be more like 14 fow and 18 fow respectively. Thanks.

WTB 12lb Torpedo and Sub Troll Probe You can't fix dumb! So I'm screwed. Looking for 12 lb torpedo rigger weight and a sub troll probe. -
I think that someone on the bay called the boat in to the USCG and they in turn tried to find someone in that area who could handle the call. I'm just guessing, but that is the feeling I got from the radio chatter. I did see the USCG on the bay when I was coming in on Saturday though. I'll bet their presence will be upped from now on for a while.

I heard the USGC and Sheriffs talking back and forth on Friday when a 35-38 foot cabin cruiser ran the length of I-Bay full out. USCG was looking for a Sheriff in the area to go get him but the Sheriffs were out at Braddocks. Too bad, jackass needed a ticket.

Josh, are you back at Sutters this year? I moved out 7 slips to get deeper water. Ha, seems like it worked!

Road to Sutter's Marina on I-Bay was partially closed last weekend but you could still get through. You can launch your boat without fully leaving the road. Floating docks, so they are all above water. Its a long, slow ride to the lake. Best to just drop the riggers and fish your way out.

New temporary "no-wake" within 500' of shoreline.

I don't think they can actually "enforce" it unless a state of emergency has been declared. I heard the deputies at the marine unit on the river describe it as a request/recommendation for right now. Looking at the water though, Mayer's gas pump is in water etc, it seems like it should be enforceable. -
Get it out of your system now Larry before you get on the boat Sunday. I guess we'll just fish for browns.

I've been using the regular unpainted stainless ones for a couple seasons, but never tried the black ones. They are 100% flat black.

Chinook Divers Ordered some Chinook Divers last week. Last night someone from the company delivers them personally to my door with my shipping cost returned in cash in the bag. Now that's service! I got the black ones to try out. I don't know if anyone uses them or if they produce better results at times or not. Hopefully.
