  1. Three of us were fishing I-Bay about 7 or 8 years ago and one of us went through three times on the way back to shore. The third time we thought it was all over for our friend. We took a different route back to shore than we went out on without really thinking about it. Walked our way right into some bad ice. It was like walking through a mine field. At one point I felt one of my feet start to go through and did a quick high step just in time. Just by luck we had brought two ice augers and were able to use both of them to make a two man, two auger chain on the second and third times. I haven't gone ice fishing since.
  2. After the dock. maintenance, repairs, gas, tackle, storage, insurance and beer, that's what I pay a pound for salmon.
  3. Maybe Pugsley's on 104 in Ontario or possibly the place on Empire Blvd across from South Point. I think it may actually be part of or associated with South Point Marina.
  4. Based on the Ademco box, the camera box and the B connector box I'm guessing we're in the same industry. Those B connector boxes are the best for tackle, especially flies.
  5. I believe anything that sinks must have single hooks. J-plugs and flatfish will work. Fish will start running anytime now if they haven't already started. Even if you don't have any luck, the river gorge is a great place to spend a sunny fall day.
  6. She is still running great and catching fish Rich. I added some LED lighting and a solar battery charging system this spring. I also removed the sponsor decals from the hull, too many people wanting to fish near me because I looked like I knew what I was doing.
  7. Don, I'm not sure where Ransomville is but I am still in the water until at least early October in Irondequoit Bay if you want to take a quick ride some night and get a feel for it yourself.
  8. Don, I have a 96 24' Fisherman HT with the 4.3l V6 and it does fine. It also has Bennett trim tabs which help a great deal getting up on plane but she will cruise 23mph at 4100 rpm with 5 guys in the boat. With two or three people she jumps out of the water pretty good, 4 or 5 and you have to work the trim tabs a little. I keep the engine tuned and maintained and it pays me back with excellent reliability. (I probably just hexed myself.) She will push 30mph if you want to run WOT but I never do. It was quite an adjustment going from an aluminum with an outboard but once I got used to it I loved it. Great on fuel too.
  9. Hey Guy, I'll take what you have left. I'll be at the bay having a beer on Thursday and can catch you then.
  10. Are those all 28s or are some D4s? I am interested in D4s if some are.
  11. I did the same in April. There are some om ebay still. New.
  12. I work in Rochester as well. Northeast side. Is there a place we can meet? Team Rabid Weasel is in for all three.
  13. I got one earlier this year on ebay. There were a few more for sale.
  14. Good steelie action 40-50 down over 150-170fow off of Webster. If you drop below that to 80-105 down there were nice 12-15 lb lakers suspended taking a spinny and fly and an occasional spoon. Mixed in a small king also. We actually boated a steelie, king and laker within a 10 minute span at one point. Doubled up numerous times. It was kind of a flood or famine day. Riggers with sliders, divers and 300 copper. We stayed between nine mile point and the white house. Total of 3 for 4 on steelies, one king and 8 lakers. Big steelie about 9 or 10 lbs, big laker about 15 lbs. Steelies were putting on awesome aerial shows. Pretty much skipped the photo ops in lieu of quick releases. Attached photo of best spoons and fly.
  15. When running the "SWR" what method is used to attach the leadcore to the rigger release? I've heard that the releases directly on the leadcore will damage the leadcore, or is that not true? Is it just a matter of a preset length of lead attached to the mono with the mono in the release?
  16. The curse of the immediate fish X2. Saturday set up around 120 fow. 2 riggers, 2 divers and a 300 copper down the chute. 300 copper fires 15 minutes in and produces a smallish steelie on a green and silver pro king. Later a hit and miss on a #5 chinook diver set on 4 back 225'. That was it. Went as deep as 350 fow and back. Covered depth from 30 down to 115 down. Spoons and flies. Sunday set up around 100 fow. Same spread. 300 copper fires 15 minutes in again. Looked like the same steelie and on the same spoon. First ever LO fish for my friend. Nothing for the rest of the day but a hit and miss on a rigger with a spinny and fly down laker deep over 130 fow. Started to fish the chickens a little but it was getting too hot. Headed for shore and a cold bloody Mary. No pics, got em both back in the water ASAP. Every time we get an immediate fish the rest of the day is dead.
  17. I have heard guys recommend drilling some holes in the plate to prevent excessive exhaust back pressure issues. I don't personally have any experience with them just something I heard.
  18. Been there and done that. Basically the system becomes a 24 volt system. I cooked my alternator same as you. The circuit breaker for the bilge pump tripped, no big deal. The fuse on the kicker blew, which was no big deal except that I didn't realize it until I went to fire it up on the next trip. No other damage except the crushing blow to my ego. 15 years as a tractor trailer mechanic working with parallel and series parallel battery systems without blowing anything up and I F-up my boat the first time I hook up the batteries. Awesome! All said and done you should be good to go after the alternator if you did not turn the key on.
  19. I'm not sure but I think we were on a hard turn and the stickbait was on the inside. All the gear had been out already. Someone yelled fish on and 3 seconds later there was all kinds of squawking going on behind the boat. The entire flock kept circling above the poor guy.
  20. The seagull was amazingly docile. Never tried to bite or struggle. I think he was exhausted from being dragged 150' across the water. That or Nick is a seagull whisperer.
  21. I got them from the classifieds here on LOU. He is on LOU as Dreams Come True Charters.
