  1. Wow. Last time I went didn't get anything on tippups either. That was a first for me. I wonder what's up with that?
  2. There was guys fishing today. 3-5" I was told. Bite was slow
  3. Nice. A lot of hogs this year taken in Newfane. I got this one last week of gun. 6.5 years old, 12 point.
  4. They put up a nice fight through the ice.
  5. Nice. Another newfane deer?
  6. Yes. The extra $20 for a python to secure your $150 camera is well worth it. I picked up an 8 pack on eBay so all cameras have the same key.
  7. Primos proof cams and truth cams have been good for me
  8. No lag on the elite. I used split zoom and was able to zoom in on bottom 3' with amazing detail. Loved having the sonar log to see my jig cadence and the fishes reaction. I can already tell this will be a huge asset on Oneida and Chaumont where I will be spending most of the time until Erie freezes. I didn't mess with the flasher mode as much as there appeared to be too much lag there.
  9. We were the closest to new ice in 17 FOW. Lost two big fish and picked at the gills and perch most of the day. Two flags that were dropped with 10-20' feet of line out. Kept enough for meal with some 12-13" perch in the mix. Buddy got a short eye around 10:00. Good to be out on a nice day, and had a blast dialing in the elite 7 on the ice. May never use my flasher again
  10. I'll be the tall bearded guy in red bibs with a frabill flip over. I run tippups so if you see me out and about, stop over and say hi!!
  11. Honeoye bound in the morning!!!
  12. To each their own I guess. I bet you don't eat the heart either. Thin sliced and marinated in fresh lime juice, garlic, onion, and fresh jalapeño. Quick sear on a hot charcoal grill and serve in corn tortillas with roasted corn salsa and cilantro.
  13. This is how my family eats it. Cut liver into thin strips and soak in whole milk overnight. Cook bacon until fat is rendered and set aside. Fry up peppers, onions, and mushrooms in bacon grease and set aside. Coat liver in seasoned flour or your favorite breading and fry in remaining bacon grease for 7-10 minutes, flipping once. Serve liver topped with peppers, onion, mushrooms and crumbled bacon
  14. I'm running an 18 volt makita brushless with nils auger. Never came close to running out of battery last year searching for eyes on Oneida.
  15. Congrats on sticking it out and taking a nice mature deer. Makes all the suffering and heartbreak worthwhile.
  16. Just read on ice shanty that brad docks was iced up out to the lake. Some open water at long and cranberry still but they're close. Might be able to get out there by saturday
  17. Heard the south end was skimmed over. I'm anxiously awaiting some ice somewhere within a 4 hr drive.
  18. You will have keep them moist. I use a combination of red wine, juice (I like berry), and a little cider vinegar when doing ribs. There's no fat and very little collagen to break down so it's not the best meat to smoke. Unless your making jerky.
  19. Congrats on a great season. Most of mine was frustrating and uneventful. The warm weather combined with the lack of nuts had my normal hot spots, ice cold. I was able to harvest a mature 12 point this past Monday in the last minutes of light to salvage my season. Now it's on to my favorite time of year, ICE FISHING!!! And it looks like Mother Nature is bringing the cold temps needed to lock up my favorite fishing holes
  20. Good luck. When in doubt, always back out.
  21. Thanks Pap. 19" inside spread with 23" beams
  22. He came out between my stand and my truck. Was crossing an open cut corn field toward a thicket on the edge of an apple orchard. I settled on him as he was slowly walking across the field and dropped him in his tracks from 150 yds. Thank god because that thicket is a LONG way across the field.
  23. Thanks guys. I have been having one tough year but this just made it much better. I have about 100 pics of this guy, all before gun season and all at night. Thank god I was out there when he made his fatal mistake. Now bring on some ice!!!!
