  1. If it's been awhile, or the boat is new to you and you trailer often and sometimes a far distance, I would take the hubs of and inspect the bearings. Repack by hand and reinstall it buy new, repack by hand and install. The last thing you want is a blown bearing at 60 mph, trust me. I had a horrible experience last year after just pumping some grease into the bearing buddies. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  2. Just trimming the fat. Thank god somebody finally had the balls. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  3. There is no way I would trust a $300 wire diver set up attached to a hatch. Those STX 2050 look like sweet boats for the multispecies guys too. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  4. A friend of a friend is close to pulling the trigger on one. The new ones have storage hatches on the gunnels. How can we put track on them with hatches in the way? Poor design if you ask me. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  5. A huge thank you to Capt. Carl Martin of Dublin Up Sportfishing for the donation of a 4 hr Trout and Salmon Charter on Lake Ontario. Some lucky winner and three friends will be fishing in style this summer!!! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  6. Starcraft Superfisherman 196 is a great multispecies rig. I own a 2001 and its the perfect boat IMO. I live in Niagara County and fish both Erie and Ontario, with the occasional trip to Honeoye or Chatauqua. I would be happy to take you out so you can see the layout of the boat Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  7. Try searchtempest. It will search all craigslist ads within your desired mile radius. Also kijijji for Canadian boats due to our stronger dollar could find a decent deal. I went through this for two years before I found mine last year in Chicago. Good luck Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  8. Luhr Jensen Alpena diamonds for sure. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  9. Back to back uni knots. 25' leader should be plenty. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  10. I'll chime in with a Starcraft bias. Lol. The absolute best big water aluminum hills period. I fish for anything from crappie and perch in inland lakes, jigging lakers on the Niagara bar, nighttime trolling for eyes in a crowd of 100 boats, bottom bouncing eyes in front of the windmills, and trolling Lake Ontario depths for kings or in shallow for Browns. I chose the Superfisherman 196 platform to suit my needs for room and multispecies, but the Fishmaster is a trollers dream. I've owned a few older Starcrafts, a tracker, fished on many Lunds, a couple crestliners, and looked at a bunch of smokercraft and Alumacraft. In my opinion they are all lacking in one way or another. Lunds are too narrow and have too much bow space for trolling. Crestliners are not a deep enough hull, unless you move into the Authority or Commander. Smokercraft was a close second for me as far as multispecies but lacked that 19-20' hull. At the end of the day, it's going to come down to that one or two things that will sway your opinion to the perfect boat for you. I hope to have my hull until I am no longer able to fish. I paid $10,000 last year and the boat came with 135 hp Optimax with Smartcraft, Lowrance elite 7, Bluetooth audio, 24v terrova w/ ipilot, trailering cover, and was clean and garage kept. I had to drive to Chicago to get it though Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  16. Awesome!!! Thank you Brian. Let me know when ready for pick up. I might be heading out to fish the ponds Tuesday, but my sister lives right in Rochester so she can grab anytime. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  17. My mom was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer a couple months ago. She is currently undergoing chemotherapy, and will eventually have surgery and radiation to follow. She has lived a simple life, raising my sisters and I while working at Walmart for over 20 years. Unfortunately the health insurance she has is not very good and her bills are really starting to pile up. We are organizing a benefit for June 4th of this year to be held in Newfane. I am looking for some donations to include in our basket raffle and large ticket item raffles. I know in the past some of you charter captains have donated charters for other benefits I've helped organize, and I thank you very much for your kind contributions. We also have a budding group of entrepreneurs, developing their custom tackle businesses. What a great way to get your name out in the best Spring/Early Summer port on Lake Ontario. If anybody is willing to donate anything, please contact me via PM or text my cell at 716-316-1831. I can pick up locally almost any day. Rochester area, my sister can pick up. Thank you all in advance. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  22. They're around. Haven't seen much for size yet. Got an 8-9 pounder at the dam the next day. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  23. I caught about 100 today. Only kept 15. A lot of 6-7 inchers I just can't bring myself to keep. Wind was brutal, I had 1 1/4 ounces on to keep the waves from rolling me back in. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  24. Olcott. Few miles east of port Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  25. Great advice there. I'm local as well and the Niagara can be generous one day and stingy as hell the next. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
