  1. That is a rhetorical question. It's like asking what is the perfect woman. I've gone through four boats in the last nine years trying to get as close to perfect as possible. Ended up with a trailerable hydrasport with a bracketed outboard, walk around and hardtop. Hard to beat a closed transom in rough weather, and with little kids..... It's all about compromises and making the least amount of them and still being satisfied. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  2. Took the new rig out fishing with a good crew. A beautiful day, but VERY tough fishing. Managed two nice lakers that came off the bottom in 50 ft. Did not see many nets flying at all around us. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  3. ...or the terrova http://www.moodeals.com/product-p/1358865.htm and when I ordered mine, I printed the rebate off of minn-kotas website and got that too! Saves you a couple hundred bucks! Like Justtracy said, having two batteries will be a huge advantage when it comes to longevity. I used to troll for hours with nothing but the I pilot and main motor shut down. It works especially great when you are creeping the shallows for spring browns or the walleye night bite...
  4. I owned a pdV2 70 lbs 24v on my last boat and loved it. If you want to save a TON of cash over cabelas, check out http://www.moodeals.com/product-p/1358726.htm way better prices than I could find anywhere!!!
  5. I've landed plenty of beauties over the years on the backside of Chimney Island just down river of the Ogdensburg bridge to Canada. What gorgeous water that is. Congrats on a nice catch. I hope to make it back there again.
  6. Thanks. I found the newer RM Evolution systems on a thread here and I think im going to go that route. The prices are real good for what appears to be a upgrade over the older s1000.
  7. I've been researching pilots for my new rig and found this thread. Does the ev-100 or 200 kit come with everything you need, or does it require additional hoses/fitting etc..?
  8. I went through this not so long ago and have a few suggestions. For cleaning, the BEST stuff ive ever gotten my hands on is MARTIN'S. Its made right here in Tonawanda and its awesome. You can buy it by the gallon at Hectors Hardware, and Buffalo RV amongst others. If your boat is "chalky" (oxidation) looking after clean and dry you have two options- the easy way or the hard way. Hard way- wet sand, buff at high speed with compound, then wax to seal it. Its alot of elbow grease, super time consuming, but the right way to do it. PolyGlo (or similar products) is a second "easy" option. Clean it super good (or you'll seal in dirt) then apply like 7 or 8 coats of this milky colored product. The end result is fantastic on old oxidized boats. This however is like putting on a clear coat over a waxed floor. You'll need to reapply yearly, but it works great (and saves lots of hours of work)... My $.02
  9. I am in the midst of rigging a new to me 23 hydrasport boat. It has a bracketed 200hp outboard with seastar hydraulic steering. I am in need of opinions on the inexpensive line of autopilots out there. Wish I could afford the best, but have to compromise. Please chime in your likes/dislikes if you HAVE or HAD one of the following units; raymarine s1000 or sitex st110. I've read mixed reviews and would truly like to hear from a fellow LOU member on their experience, not just rumors.
  10. Boat is sold. Best of luck to her new owner. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  11. There's a product called polyox I've used that is phenomenal. It's a powder abrasive like soft scrub and gets off rust is a hurry.... Martins cleaner made in n tonawanda works great for everything else Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  14. I don't believe that the law is intended to protect a certain CLASS of person at all. Like laws pertaining to crimes against victims of diminished capacity or infancy (mental ability/age), it merely sets up provisions to further punish criminals for targeting vulnerable people. Even in war where society has accepted soldiers killing soldiers, it is a criminal offense to target medics giving aid. I believe it is moral issue that makes it a touchy subject. So, I apologize Tim, but I believe if my mother was murdered and the coward who lie in wait shoots an emt rendering her aid, does deserve greater consequences. 15. Great link BS. Thanks for posting, I'll pass it on. P.S. Tim you've obviously never volunteered or served as a first responder. Nothing displeases me more than people who feel the need to validate their opinion by saying "with all do respect"- because what follows rarely employs any RESPECT at all... A salute to all those who serve their communities- especially volunteers who risk life and limb to help others expecting nothing but this type contempt in return.
  16. It's by no means a speed boat but will get up on plane and top out around 30 mph. The advantage here is better fuel mileage... Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  17. I 100% agree with Dominic's statement. Hunting is is what it's all about. I understand we all have our opinions, but we need to stand together. I've spent a lot if years bow hunting and love the sport, but don't want to lose the opportunity all together. The only thing we need to fight are the Liberal bastards that want to take away all of our rights not only as hunters but AMERICANS! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  18. Anyone thinking spring? Sea trials available as soon as weather permits!!
  19. Here is a section of conservation law from ny. It basically reads that anyone 21 and over can kill cats pursuing game but only police can kill dogs
