The NY law states those born on or before May 1 1996 must complete an approved safety course in order to operate a motorize boat..Those born after that date are exempt...Sk8man asks an interesting question.. about who else must take the safety course....No clear ans. appears out there rite now..But I'm guessing, with all the other states going in the same direction. If a New Yorker wishes to trailer his rig out of state he made need to produce his safety boat operator certificate that he can obtain with a free test taken on line..Must score at least 80% on the test which I believe is given in 6 segments...Mite be something every one mite consider..Especially if you are considering out of state fishing trip trailering ur rig.Or just a boating trip with family..You'll be prepared with a valid safety course certificate in your wallet..Couldn't hurt..

How do u print out your boating safety certificate with taking the on line test???

Seems like alot of upset fisherman over basically a pretty good idea...18 and under will be required to take the course..Plenty of places will not charge a fee, but 10.00 will be required to be pd for the safety boating Certificate...Now there will be private instructors giving the course and they will charge a fee..Plus 10.00 to the state for the certificate...Seems to me a limited amount of education b4 going the water would be a good idea..Granted people will still make mistakes and accidents occur...Bet most of the members here goofed up sometime in their travels on the open water..But they learned from their mistakes..These youngsters are going to have to do the same thing..Question I have is will they force it on other ages groups if accidents continue to occur and there are more fatalities.. Lets face it experience is the best teacher..But with so many recreational boaters out there today time how they going to get years of experience..Also it doesn't seem to be a real money maker for the state..And it mite just save a life or 2, maybe even yours or mine..

Never tried spoons but found it worked great when trailing larger sticks baits behind a fly or streamer the rapalas in sizes 11 & 13 also larger rebels and thunder sticks in natural colors has worked pretty good just about any predator fish will attack it...Spoons should work too .Though i never personally tried them..

Ever see a small trailer loaded with a 14 foot deep vee, gas cans, fishing gear, and a 30 Hp Motor blow a tire and jack knife off the back end of a suv doing 60 mph on the thruway or turn pike...Thinking in Albany is to try and prevent that from happening..Forum fisherman will keep their gear in order..But there are plenty guys out there that don't...Just my 2 cents worth..

Ok every one blowing off steam..But we got way off the subject...Back to the deal Joe Biden against importing back to the USA M1 grands & carbines, that we sold to S, Korea years ago..Now a Rep from Wy. wants to import them back and sell them to our people..War weapons have always been a no no here..Nothing in that article about other firearms...Right now no solving the problems your bringing up, especially by us here on a fishing forum..,,I am vet too..but with over 300 million guns in the country now weres the end..? Enough from me on the matter..

Hey if you feel this country will be better off when every one has to carry a gun for protection then so be it..Looks like we'er heading that way now..Can understand where ur coming from..But then be prepared to arm your wives mothers and children when they reach the age to travel without a parent guiding them..Maybe all u intelligent men have a answer to control gun murders,,Instead of just saying thats the way we are..Because its not that way in most other developed countries..Give me a clue what this country will be like in another 25 or 30 years if this keeps up..I presume most of u fisherman are also gun hunters and know how to take care of weapons..But how bout the dudes that don't know how, or worse yet don't care how or who gets their hands on their guns.. Good luck....BTW the m 1 is a 30.06 calibur 8 round clip fed semi auto matic rifle not a 5 round semi..And newer model M-1 cabine is the M2 can be fired fully automatic with 30 rounds or 30 cal. ammo...Guess in the hands or amateurs u guys would feel ok...God help us..What a future.

Close to 10,000 give or take a few murders by gun fire pretty heavy number and been going on for years, thats 100,000 in 10 years..Pretty sorry state of affairs..

ADK1: 48 qt cooler will probably do the job if you filet all your fish..But keep this in mind it is illegal to cut, filet, or skin a Lake Trout or Atlantic salmon which would make it tough to determine the size and species of said fish..Gilled and gutted ok.While on NY waters.Other trout and salmon ok to filet, keep in mind good idea to leave skin on the fish and make filets large enough to determine fishes length...Now if your lucky enough to catch some real giants, you'll just have to spring for a large cooler,,,,LOL Tite lines to ya guy ..

Speaking of coolers , brings another interesting question...48 qt cooler ok if all fish caught will be filleted, question then is how many days limit may u transport and what are the requirements on the way fish are filleted..I bring that up just to keep the topic going...LOL 100 qt cooler best if just going to gut your fish and transport home and then do the finishing touches..Check the reg's bout fileting fish, its interesting. Going over the reg's every once in awhile a great idea..

Fellas thanks again for the info on Brown Trout fishing on Lake O....One last question and I'll leave you fellas to your King salmon quests...How late into Aug would u think brown trout fishing is worth attempting in the Mexico Bay area...I'd say your located in an ideal area there Panfisher..Between Lake O and the fingers must be tough for u to leave to test out new waters..But i think sometimes the unknown about a new body of water is exciting in itself..Any ways hope you guys have a great season..Thanks for the advice Your all the best...

Salmon & Bobby, your right about this forum its the best on Lake Ontario as it should be..You mite be interested in the forums Lake champlain United...And Fish 307..They have a forum also attached thru their web site. Which is on lake George..You may have bought tackle from their shop..Its located behind the log jam resturant...Maybe see u over there.. I go by the handle Slider there. I don't post to often but there is info on lake Geo there and Champlain plus a number of other ADK Lakes......

Reservoirs for 40 years..Can't get enough of them...Salmon---Did u say Schroon lake..Luv that lake also..Spent many days chasing lakers and the LL salmon there..But the years catching up on me now, So figure maybe take a shot at the browns on Lake O..Fished there a number of times.for the Kings.U feelas that have good access there are blessed..Thanks again for any info..Btw probably have to charter with one of the services up there..Wish i could get my own boat there..Fish on fellas nail those big uns.....LOL

Is it worth targeting Brown trout in the month of August..I know sounds like a dumb question when the Kings of the lake are on the move...Especially in the areas around Oswego & Mexico Bay.. Well its more for my wife, whom had open heart surgery few years back, and fears the pressure of a big King on the move mite be too much to handle..She has managed good sized Lakers up to 11 lbs and small browns and landlocks on our normal fishing lakes of Champlain and lake George.. But big O produces giants when it come to the salmon..So we thought maybe browns would be a target..Figured if anyone had a good opinion it would be u guys..Thanks in advance for any info...Tite lines to u all in the mean time.....

Bad news when ever classified data gets into the wrong hands..Hopefully no one will pay a price for whats occurring now. However the possibility of Japan not invading the USA back in '40's wasn't due to the thought that too many Americans had firearms..They new they would have to over run the entire Pacific meaning all islands including Hawaii..It would be almost impossible for them to supply and invading army if that wasn't done..The fact that this country has more weapons than any country on earth is well know throughout the world....Maybe that will scare our enemies away..But somehow I doubt it would scare Russia or China..Lets keep our fingers crossed our leaders start doing a better job..

Just a note to say__ Everything bout Obama care isn't bad...Insurance companies have to follow the 80/20 portion of the bill, Which means millions of American rate payers will be getting a piece of the 1.1 billion dollars insurance companies over charge the public or their employers whom ever paid the bill..Not to mention the lives its saved...Just for ur info...

Looks to me that most of these taxes being mention are taxes being paid by the manufacture..Not the fisherman..Also I believe if you check back these taxes have been around for about 15 years probably longer...Didn't just start with Obama care.. Would luv to see our founding fathers deal with a population of about 310,000,000 million instead ot the 2,400,000 they had back in the 1750's
