  1. Anyone want to unload a few trolling rods/reels? I could use 3 rigger rods
  2. Can you send me a couple pictures of the rods if they are still for sale? I can come by and get them this weekend. Jay 585-236-6147
  3. Does anyone know of a car top/small boat launch site on East Bay? I have a small pontoon boat that would be good for this size water, but I need to drag it to launch it, because my 10 year old is not strong enough to help carry yet.
  4. Thanks guys for your responses! I'm doing it. It's so close by and we have loads of spots to launch I do't know why I haven't tired it sooner.
  5. How bad is the drop off at the end of the concrete on the ramp? I want to fish, but don't feel like destroying my trailer in the process.
  6. Has anyone ever had any success fishing bass on the Erie Canal? I have a little pontoon boat that I want to try some small water bass/panfishing but don't want to waste my time if it sucks.
  7. I would love to hear a report from the guys that went out of Bear Creek on Saturday. I saw three trailers at the launch.

  8. I saw a few trailers at Bear Creek boat launch over the weekend and was hoping to see some posts as to if there was any action. Even though I think they were nuts for going out, I am curious as to the results. The trailers were gone later in the day so I know they didn't die.

  9. Are any of you guys at all concerned about consuming Lake Ontario Salmon? I have been smoking these fish for years, and have never really worried too much. I always take out belly meat. My kids love it.
  10. I like panfish fillets dredged in flour, egg wash, then I use a blended powder made from Ritz crackers for the outside. It turns out just right, not to much batter to hide the fish.
  11. I wouldn't even go out on the lake in a 14 footer. Almost lost my life in a 16 footer years ago. Not worth it.
  12. Went out last night to a beautiful evening on the water, small rollers less than a foot all the way. Started in about 150 FOW marking some bait, but very little action on the screen. Set a rigger at 125' and one at 140', plus dipseys at 225 and 180 with NK's green/black/silver/blue. Rigger had a green flasher/fly and other ran a black/green NK. Continued to work NE and found some good 50-55 degree water in about 200 FOW about 150 down, but still very few marks and little bait. Found a few decent scum lines with good temp but never moved a single rod and trolled until dark. We had my son and his buddy out and had hopes for some action, but still better than cutting grass.
  13. Thanks for the tips! I have been waiting for the wind to stop blowing. It seems when I can go fishing, the lake doesn't want me there. Tough to get both the time and the right conditions both at the same time
  14. Heading out of Bear Creek tonight, but haven't been on the water in a while. What's the skinny on putting some silver in the boat? I am taking my son and his buddy so I would love to get them some action.
  15. Almost cashed it on on Lake Erie a few years ago in a 16 footer with some buddies. Too small a boat to be out that far. Not worth it to catch fish. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  16. I installed a new Fish Hawk X4 on my 1997 Starcraft fishmaster last week. Went out on the water to fish with boards last week, and left down probe at home because I had no plans on using it. The unit powered up fine at home, but when out on the water kept flashing and requiring me to scroll through the different data points i.e. surface temp, speed, down temp (which shouldn't be since the probe was at home), and down speed. Once I scroll through settings and save, the unit seems to run for a few seconds then shut itself off. I called fish hawk to see if they could help me out with the issue. First of all, that company is awesome! Not only are they helpful, but timely, and genuinely concerned about my issue (you don't get that very oftern these days). They asked me what motor was on my boat and if it happened to be a late 90's or early 2000 Mercury. It happens to be a 1997 mercury 115HP. They told me that these model years of outboard seem to have "open grounds" that cause power spikes which causes the Fish hawk LCD to trip its internal breaker designed to protect it. the solution is to replace the spark plugs on the engine to "R" plugs which will correct the issue. Anybody else experience something like this?
  17. I installed a new X4 on my boat last week. Took it out for the first time but left the probe at home because I only planned on using boards. Unit powers on and asks for me to scroll through surface temp, speed, then down temp and speed then turns itself off. I have called the company and was told that since I have a 1997 Mercury on my boat that it is triggering the "internal breaker" on the LCD due to an open internal ground in the engine. First of all, the folks at Fishhawk are a...

  18. Call Eric at 585-953-0654. He lives in Ontario, and just stopped by on Saturday to see if I knew of anybody interested. Sounded like what you are looking for.
  19. I would love to take my kids to catch a few. We have always headed to the west of bear creek and encountered dead water with no fish. I have almost given up on trying to fish Lake Ontario smallmouth. My kids don't have enough patient to troll for salmon. I stare at all the equipment I have and wish I lived back down in the finger lakes where the bass were everywhere. Any advice would be awesome. Thanks.
  20. Looking for a dual planer board mast that I can modify to use in the front pedestool seat mount in the front of boat.
  21. Yes the launch does get ugly at times. Getting out early am usually are no issues but getting off the water is another story. Thanks for the advice. Better to get a permit. I informed my buddy at the town about the issues with the launch and was informed that they only employ a part timer ro check tags at peak times because of budgets.
  22. Heading out in the morning and haven't been on the water in a while. Would love some good advice. Thinking of starting in around 150 with riggers and dipsies. Would love to boat some fish since I am bringing some guys along who have never gone before.
  23. Nice work buddy. Wish I could have joined you guys. I will attempt Thursday evening but need to check the weather. Lusk.
