  1. Now were gettin somewhere looks like it gets to 60 by saturday , sunny all week winds calmer Hopefully if anyone gets out this weekend they do well http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=43.31645962500045&lon=-76.70216963999968&site=all&smap=1#.Vw0pTHomrXx
  2. Lol well we did get about 6 inches of snow and its still mostly on the ground. Weather says it gets cold toward the weekend so realistically another week imo...but we just need a quick warm up and we should be good to go
  3. Lol I guess coincidence has its position lol. I was in town today talking with some people, the subject of the dredging of blind sodus came up...Apparently the " rumor" is that there is no funding this year for the dredging and they are not sure when it would actually get done. I guess some who live in blind sodus are searching for dockage in little sodus (fair haven) bay cause they may be choked in.... That being said something will shake and eventually it will get cleared it always does.. Nice day today we just gotta get thru this cold/snow they say is coming Sunday and Monday which they forecast to be in the 20's
  4. It really boils down to when they can fit it in and the condition of the channel. the waer level has a lot to do with it too and the buildup over winter. well the wind is going to pickup this week as another cold front moves true. Tomorrow is the best day of the week. I think I might uncover the boat if so.. were gettin there...
  5. Its different every year, it depends on the situation. with the water coming up they might be ok. Usually in April if they can coordinate it..
  6. Today was a nice day, still a bit windy but it was perfect sunshine..The water level is up nicely and the ice is gone now its just a matter of a little warmer weather and off we go lol. I will guess most of you are getting the toys ready lol..
  7. The west barrier bar side has good access for that too. You can pull up to one of those daily camp sites and launch from there. But not today guys its damn windy and freezing up here lol. white caps galore and a good day to stay indoors....or get on a roof and fix vents lol...
  8. Yea theres nothing to it. And this is a great time of year for a small boat or not even having a boat cause you could even troll off the pier. Those fish when present get in real close to shore and with minimal equip one could have a blast.
  9. When the browns come in (usually when the temp hits 50) that pier can be a gold mine. If you fish the state park side and cast toward the park you can get nice browns. I use little cleo's and even rebels work. Work all the way down to the corner which sometimes they stack up there. On the West Barrier Bar side a good set of waders can make it fun. ive caught browns simply from casting off shore but better results away from the pier on this side ....With a boat just go along the piers back and forth and you should be fine. There are bass and pike inside the chute and sometimes when its rough out the browns typically come in there as well
  10. I might dump my 12 footer in lol...Thing with the browns is temp 39 is a little cold but your getting out thats great. It has been decent to get out there..I was going to play around the pier today but unfortunately, my moms hot water heater blew last night so i grabbed some shark bites and a new 40 gal natural and slapped it in today lol
  11. Of course now lol...they are talking possible snow coming this weekend. Ohhh they mentioned the word "measurable" lol... I checked that noaa site it looks like it stays 50's until Thursday then turns cold back to the 30's with possible snow lol...typical right??? it is getting there
  12. Well not that this statement has any validity lol. but it seems like when we have a reallly mild winter kings tend to show up early lol... Typically its Browns in the Spring and we wouldnt entertain the fact of a hard silver king fight until June.. Theres something about a mild winter that must trigger kings cause over the years when its mild all Winter, its happened Two years ago, (would be three Winters), coming of a mild winter, flat lining in 20 fow, doin my thing, looking for Browns... And there is a lot of debris out there and the ice is steadily holding lol..It rained today but really raw out.... I would really like to think that April/May would be awesome
  13. It was cold too. wind did pick up. Its nice u got out though. that ice at the south end is holding steady, little by little its going away. It looks like we stay in the 50's this week so the bay should get better as we go. and yea lol it is only mid march lol. Guess we just sit and wait lol
  14. Lol dont worry I cant get out yet still ice jammin up. But it does look like just another week at least from the south end of the bay. As long as it stays warm like it is....
  15. This goes out to my neighbors, rumors have it power starts tomorrow, cant wait to see everyone. Get ready should be a good one...Everything looks fine...
  16. Theres still chunks floating around day by day now as long as it keeps warm. I might try my little boat if its calm lol
  17. Well after a beautiful day here in Fair Haven I would say the ice should be gone by this weekend as long as it stays like it is. There is still heavy chunks of ice floating in the chute and stacking up the launch and park areas. If you could get out the shoreline is clear. There is a good amount of debris washed up on shore so that means there is more out there ...I could see floaters out there But the line is drawn in the sand and it looks real good for this weekend or shortly thereafter but remember its still early,,,,
  18. No the chutes are not open the park has frozen broken ice jams all over the place. we should have a better idea later this week once we hit those to 60 degree days were supposed to get. But again at least a while before its even close
  19. I admit lol That vid came out really good thanks guys It looks like we might hit 60 next week but i really dont get that excited yet because we all know what March can do. However there isnt much ice so who knows....but it looks good So for lol. Lets just remain hopefully cautious...
  20. Yea it kinda got me going. Theres nothing like the first day out in Spring Time. I mean you know the browns are in close, you still gotta wear your heavy jackets/hats, Spring wind patterns, no leaves on the trees yet. I went back in time , found this video of me and my son, 5 years ago lol. How time passes. Since then hes moved to the carolinas, good car mechanic and this is something he does miss... But anyway heres to a great Spring thaw out....
  21. Well hello all. Im sure your all wondering whats going on at Fair Haven. Welp Mr. Clean is here to give ya the goods lol. Its definitely going to be a mild spring I think. There is still Ice fishing however its limited to the extreme south of the bay. The ice will go quickly if this weather pattern continues. I would say mid to end of March if it does stay warm. But today is a beautiful day in Fair Haven. Like I said I could see fishing by mid to end of March but lets not get too cocky. It can turn in the opposite direction but for today....it looks good.. Ill update everyone in a couple of weeks....
  22. As the trend has continued its been 1 or 2 per day some with more luck many with less luck. This week was not too exciting. The State Fair really didnt sound that bad of a choice lol. Ive been working the fair and decided I wanted a few hours off so I came to camp last night just for a fire. I did fish the hole for about an hour. There are fish there at evening and it was a cool sunset but I honestly just made a few circles I knew nothing would pop.. I wake up this am and captn Duane was sitting there having his morning coffee. I said " lets go" and off we went. No fancy video, no real care....Lets just go.... We spent about an hour and a half out there and pulled in this 28lb king. Nice one. Simple meat rig.. 120 down in 140 fow. Guys were coming in when I left with one or two kings and they are getting there so I think you all should have a great weekend. Start at 90 in the am work out to 200. You should try the hole in the early am but really later at sunset. You should have this by then....
  23. After a tough weather week im glad the lake provided some decent fishing for the Fair Haven Challenge, Congrats to the winners and it looked like an excellent turnout. Kudos to all behind the scenes... Its been hit or miss, some are fishing waaaaayyyyy out past 500 others playing around closer between 90 and120 fow They are out there you just need to find them. This is one of my more unusual reports but I honestly think one of the best lol. Every now and then I get a feeling while fighting a fish that its gonna beat me. Odds are in my favor for the most part but every now and then you get that fish that gives you that feeling that it will win. This video shows my fight today. Nobody likes to loose a fish particularly charters and buddies on the boat ,but when your on your own, with everything thats going on around you, by the end of it all, if something does go wrong, its all good.... Lol after all it is called fishing. I actually feel bad for the fish, she got away but still has that spoon kissing her lips shut. If someone happens to catch a king salmon approx 24lbs with a black and purple nk28 with a white backside sticking in her jaw.....Just give me back the spoon lol...
  24. It will get there. we need a nice harsh cold front to move thru get em goin lol. We are seeing fish a little closer particularly toward the evening. Keep at it, it will happen
  25. Fish are at 130 to 200 last night they were 100 ft down. last night was beautiful but no fish lol. I think it was so nice even the fish just wanted to hang lol. Some are catching them, most are not but keep at it cause they gotta turn on soon. ets see what we get today.
