  1. Its been so damn windy lol. Every time I want to go out its too rough to want to deal with it. While I was at a festival last weekend in Pulaski reports said we didnt miss much. Rough seas and for the few brave little return. This weekend was the same for me. I arrive along with the wind and seas lol. Ohh well for all of you who traveled miles to get here to find what I did...It's character build I guess.... However for those who did get out this weekend the kings were out deep anywhere between 160 and 400. Majority are fishing well into the 3's. Some nice kings did come back yesterday but it was a long day to get em. Today is beautiful btw no seas nice day to fish lol. Lets see what it brings...
  2. Lol yes there is. they seem to be out past 150 to 250, down around 75. Yesterday they had three buckets full in the marina thats awesome. Im gonna give it a go Thursday. Im pumped everyone's gettin em. Now that I have a break from stage work hopefully I can join in lol.
  3. Christ the most action I had was waiving to you as you passed by lol. Fishing is picking up. Ive gotta work harborfest this weekend and might sneak in a quick run or two lol
  4. Boy its hot, real hot I have not seen it this good in years....Ohhh Im not talking fishing im talking summer heat lol. Fishing is slow but if you spend all day out there you should come back with a small to mid size salmon, nice lakers and some big browns. I came up empty handed today especially after I threw the white towel in lol...Salmon are out deep past 175 but there are still browns in close but you should get up real early and get the bite cause the heat and calm water just dont help. Even in the bay I couldnt catch any bass just one of those weekends ..A nice cold front would help lol
  5. Happy 4th everyone. Thats what the fish said lol. Cause they were not biting lol. It was basically a two fish per boat weekend all the way thru Mostly lakers and some nice salmon in the teens is all. Honestly you were better off with the family around a grille imo lol. But hey the weather was nice and the fireworks at fair haven were excellent this year. Once the thermocline sets up we should be in good shape. For now browns are still there but you gotta get out early cause it seems to shut down around 10ish.
  6. For those coming in this weekend for the Fair Haven 4th of July here is the schedule of events. One big change is that the boat parade is on Saturday at noon (normally it was on Friday). Everything else remains as in the past but here is the schedule if anyone is interested.
  7. No not yet, it seems were still a little behind time wise this year. The fact that were still catching browns in close almost july 4th is interesting enough for me lol. There are small salmon out around the 120 -170 range, they are there. Can change any day I guess?? Hey congrats to the "dipsey chicks" who fished aboard the Ludwig yesterday in the womens tournament in Oswego. Two nice browns way to represent FaIr Haven!!! But its still mostly browns, small salmon and lakers if you want em....This rain may change things, lets see what happens later in the week.
  8. Thanks. Well I went yesterday afternoon after the blow calmed down. The mudline was setup perfectly. just outside the chute. No takers but they were there. I gave it a hour or so then figured a fire would suffice for the evening lol. We are supposed to get rain sat and sunday but depending on the winds that will tell the tale....
  9. Thanks guys, The hole is a great spot to hit this time of year particularly after a nice blow and rain like we had. My bungee cord "otto" is getting old. But boy he is reliable once shes in the right direction lol. It was a big fish, they tend to chase spoons at a 2.8+ speed. So there are still browns in close. As long as that temp stays so will they I guess. Lets see what this week brings..
  10. Well this my first trip report of the year. Primarily because ive been nursing a break in period for a new lower unit I had installed. That being said fishing has been slow and spotty. But I figure today would be the day since yesterdays blow and recent rains should have stirred things up abit. Traffic was heavy today on the water particularly with the "wounded warriors" fishing day and a tournament out of Oswego. Most were in around 170 with not much to report. I chose to head out and fish "the hole" just outside the chute because I still am breaking in the lower unit. Once there I pretty much threw back my silver and green slammer about 120 feet and dropped the rigger ball down to 5 ft. It didnt take long. The line ripped hard, first I thought it was a big laker but it kept running, We fought hard for about 10 minutes or so. Once he was in the boat I played around for about another hour then headed in. Nice way to start the season.
  11. Well this is about the only thing ive caught so far.. A nice view lol. Ive been nursing a break in period for a new lower unit and I went out the other night and fished 30 fow for about an hour just for laughs lol. Were gonna give it a little more of an effort this weekend. But slow its been, that will change...
  12. Its been hit or miss basically slow. Charter captns are bringing in lakers one day , small salmon and browns the next day. Your in the right range and area thats for sure. Today the fog setup seriously lol. It actually shot down the bay just like in the movie "the fog" lol. This weeks weather should stir things up though.
  13. Stay by the grille, forget it nothing going on out there lol. I went yesterday and worked what was left of the mud line. the south winds blew it up.I found fish in 12 feet (browns) but they were on the bottom in one huge school. basically they were stagnant . Only three lakers came in today. I guess its a holiday for the fish lol. Maybe this week it will change.....maybe....
  14. Well I was going to go today but with the sc advisory and stiff west wind I said nei nei lol... However one charter came in with some nice browns to add something to the bucket. Lets see what tomorrow morning brings.
  15. Can you say "Mud Chicken" lol....cause thats basically whats happening around Fair Haven lol... This week has been a steady diet of Lake trout. 150 feet out , allllll the way down...Some were in the 15 to 18 lb range...An occasional atlantic shows up but its all lakers. Water has been clear and we still need a shakeup....That being said lets see what this week brings....
  16. Yea Brendan has done a great job since he took it over. Its now right there on main street a nice log cabin style building cant miss it. When it was first put up it was a wanna be restaurant that quickly turned pizza shop primarily because Guizeppes right across the street really had the local business at that time. It lasted maybe two seasons before Louie moved in there. After abit he decided he wanted out. He always wanted to go to FL...and they finally did... But yea Brendan has done well with it imo....Nice little cabins you can rent, hes got all the stuff and he knows what to do lol...
  17. Ohhh they still work. The nice thing about em is they have a great speed range. Which helps with the lower currents at times. They swag good at 1 - almost 6 mph and attract salmon etc....And those hooks once they are set they are pretty difficult to shake.... Soon as I get out Ill run em for browns and I use sticks too. Raps jointed perch is really a good one for me.....Lol Btw happy birthday to this thread its actually 2 years old today, 50k hits pretty good info in here. Great job to everyone who contributed and followed along... But I pretty much still use em regularly with moderate results....Lol...I felt like im behind cause usually shes in the water. But i went out about this time last year so maybe I can pull it off and get par for last year by this weekend lol...
  18. Lol that was also the era of the NK 28's and Mags lol..Herring he used to sell a lot of lol...Sandy was awesome...she would always defer the fishin info to louie lol....then shed walk back into the house so she wouldn't have to hear it over and over again cause people kept coming in as soon as they pulled into town lol...
  19. Lol yea in the old days you would have to go down to the house where the shop was and louie he would be going on and on and on about where they were and what they were hittin on....Lol....
  20. I couldnt figure out why boat cleaner sales went thru the roof as of Friday. Welp this report kinda explains that. Fishing was moderate around Fair Haven this weekend. Most charters came in with 2-3 small to mid size browns. The largest I saw was 7lbs. But the real issue was the black flys. They coated everything from downriggers, nets etc,,, The worst its been in years......Most of the decks coming back were black.. Of course they were gone this am. Ill start fishing this weekend...For now I just hang back and watch my buddies protecting the eggs...
  21. Hopefully everyone has a great year... Once I get my canvas re sewed she should be in the water. Im thinking this coming week for sure I should be on the schedule for the drop in...I might however take my little 12 footer out with a few stick baits and hammer em that way lol (weather permitting of course lol)
  22. Yea toward the silos theres probably a few big rocks pretty close to the top I would think... Today was a great day for time flys nice fish!
  23. Hey hey ice is gone so game on. A buddy of mine went yesterday and today, nice browns in close , mid size, standard procedures lol...Word of caution...water level VERY VERY VERY low. I was poking around the marina today and I am seeing rocks and logs I have not seen in decades literally.....I went down to the shoreline and it looked pretty thin as well so be careful...
  24. Heres a photo scott took the other day. Its getting there but still ice on the bay..I can get to camp but its still got a few days to go yet...next week...water level drastically low..
  25. Well get there. If it does get warm the stuff can melt relatively quick. Soon....
