  1. With all the cannon downrigger users here...nobody has ever re-greased the gearbox and thrust bearing?
  2. I am overhauling one of my cannon's mag 10's....What type/brand of grease have you used for the worm gear and pulley gear? Also, I see a little grease on the thrust bearing...is it the same as worm gear grease? Thanks...John
  3. There is a form of silicone glue on the cover...you may scratch the cover taking it off but it will come off. Just remember to use silicone when putting back together or it will leak...not good...
  4. Just put a 9.9 mercury pro kicker 20" shaft on my 20' Starweld...mounted it to the transom with 2 bolts and the 2 transom clamp bolts. Motor is not going anywhere. I used a piece of rubber pad on the transom to protect it. I made my own steering that mounts inside the boat with a store bought bracket that mounts on the sea star hydraulic steering unit on the big motor..need a store bought bracket for the trolling motor... purchased 1/2" hem joints from e-bay and stainless threaded rod...works way better and saved over 100.00 than the EZ steer rod that mounts outside the boat and both motors will raise and lower independently from each other...also you can remove the rod by pulling a clevis pin. I purchased a Itroll unit for trolling speed...the Itroll is the cats ass and easy to install! Not cheap...motor was 2850.00 shipped to the door and itroll was 385.00. Well worth the investment for me...
  5. I have a single 400 copper. Do you guys find better success running a 400 or 500 copper for Salmon? I fish Oswego, Mexico, Sandy Pond area. I am looking to possibly add a 500 to my arsenal and am new to running copper. Any thoughts?
  6. Well here ya go....I used to fish Lake O big time in the late 90's...sold all of my gear...riggers...boat etc. I just bought a new boat last year and completely re-rigged. I can't tell you how many thousands of dollars I have spent on just rigging the boat, lures etc. Welcome to the club and break out the credit card!!
  7. I believe you still can drop off at Woody's in Port Ontario and they get picked up and then returned to Woody's. I am not sure if it is fish307 that services them but it is a factory authorized shop that fixes them. Give Woody's a call...
  8. Why are you guys messing around with ez-steer? I looked at it and said no way am I going to invest 250.00 on a rod that sits outside the boat to steer and sounds like it falls off pretty regularly. Purchase 2- 1/2 inch female rod ends/heim joints from e-bay...cost me 12.00 and these are heavy duty well made...purchase 1/2" stainless steel rod from zoro.com for 15.00. Cut rod to fit. I purchased a bracket to mount to my seastar hydraulic steering main motor for about 70.00. Now you have it connected inside the boat with 2 stainless hitch pins that can be removed in an instant and both motors can be raised and lowered independently from each other connected. You will need a steering mount/plate for your kicker which can be made or purchased from the dealer for about 30.00. Works great and replacement parts are dirt cheap.
  9. Just bought one for my 9.9 pro kicker. Not fully mounted yet. I researched...and itroll seems the best. I will not purchase hunt feature...not needed in how I fish. I will report back when fully functional.
  10. Thanks for the interest guys...FishLips130 said he would purchase... I am waiting on a payment...if he backs out, I will let you guys know. Thanks.,..
  11. 2-Traxstech Lift and Turn Rod Holders...these have been used once and pulled from my boat in new flawless condition. As you can see in the pictures, these holders can be mounted directly to the boat with 4- 1/4 bolts or mounted to a plate and then mounted to the boat. Traxstech makes one of the strongest and well engineered rod holders on the market! I am selling because my new boat is being mounted with vertical rod tree's. I am asking 125.00 firm for the pair and this will include shipping. I accept paypal and shipping to US only. Here is info on the holders: Lifts & rotates every 18 degrees/20 positions for maximum all around positioning One handed adjustability by pulling the tube sideways and then moving it to next set of teeth and releasing for full engagement and strength of all 20 teeth machined in the side of this holder There are 6 positions from 0 degree to 90 degrees and one position past 90 degrees to get the rod tip to the water, if desired. We have machined a center hub to prevent lifting when used with dipsey divers on the bottom and side sections This is an aluminum machined rod holder you will not be disappointed with its strength and flexibility I have 100% feedback as a seller on e-bay and sold thousands of dollars in equipment. Go to e-bay and click advanced search on right of page and search by find a member on left side of page near the bottom and type northeastgreatoutdoors...click on my feedback and check as a seller. This will show you I am a honest person.
  12. Yes Lund is a great boat but you have to refinance your home your in laws home to purchase one. Way too expensive for what you get. That is my opinion.
  13. Thanks for all the info....I believe a 20" shaft would work. I heard they discontinued the 8 HP High thrust Yamaha...is this true?
  14. My boat is a 19.5 ft Starcraft deep V. What hp are you guys running for a kicker? I was considering a 9.9 4 stroke? What do you guys run and think? Thanks...John
  15. Bazooka Joe...when referring to short cores....how many color do you particularly run for Browns? I set up some cores this year for the first time.
  16. Ok thanks...I will give them a try..I have big boards on a mast. I will post back with results when I get the boat out in the Spring.
  17. Question for Sk8man..do you use the small rubber bands for Salmon?
  18. Is this motor electric start?
  19. I am not a Lawyer but can you file a complaint with the NYS Attorney General's Office? I am not sure when you can open up a case but this is under warranty and the lack of response has me thinking maybe you can? Just a thought....
  20. Yes that sound like it would work.. just make sure you have a good knot from the leadcore to the backing... I tie a Willis knot.
  21. The thing you don't want to do is damage the leadcore sheath and have lead protruding...I have rods set-up as "shots" For spring Browns I have 2 color and 3 color leadcore "shots" so I am at a certain depth and am connecting my planer board to the powerpro backing not the lead.
  22. Just be careful if you are going to connect a release to the leadcore if you are using a planer board as you could ruin the leadcore. You could probably use a rubber band release on the lead...it should not ruin it.
