There are 2 pressed in pins that hold the ratchet handle in. Due to quality control and design flaws these pins work there way partially out and when the next fish hits the dipsy on the holder and you grab the rod the thin aluminum that holds the pin rips and the holder becomes a $100 paperweight. This happened with one already and would have happened to a second one today.....

Sold / Closed Charter Business & Boat last offer $35k
Captain Carl Bish replied to Captain Carl Bish's topic in Boats for Sale
I have exactly two weeks from today to sell and turn this business over to a new operator, otherwise I'll forfeit my other opportunity for the summer and will have to spend my time fishing. Over $25k in business on the books already this year, the majority of which will be realized post sale....or when you run the trips that are currently booked with deposit you will get the $15k in income. AND I am adding trips to the schedule every day! I'll take $35,000 or a reasonable offer. -

YUP! ^^^^^ -
Uncle Paul, In times past we used to match colors to water clarity, sun angle ect. In today's lake and with cutting edge finishes you can get away with just a few color combos....here they are: lure names are unique to Moonshine lures....color combos are not! Black/silver with green glow --- geezer, raptor, Crabface Green glow & silver --- green shorts, bad toad Green glow/blue & silver --- ratchet jaw Black & green glow --- Carbon 14 If you want to run flashers use flys in the same colors above behind a white/glow or green/glow flasher. You can catch 90% of your fish on these combos for the additional 10% you may need those other 300 combos.....or not!

I wish there was a way to simply "like" some of these posts! Thank you to those who support us captains and mates. Brian...Gambler....has summed up the challenges for this business the best. As for other posts ...... A few of them the ignorance was only exceeded by verbosity. -
charter tipping
Captain Carl Bish replied to ohkwari09's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
I think most of you miss the point. $800 should be the minimum cost for a full day charter. The average paid charter on Lake Ontario is $200-300 less than that. If your on a boat paying $500 you better tip the guy because he is in fact making less than minimum wage. I thank you for your well wishes Chris, but I don't quite understand what would have offended you especially since you agree with me on tipping. Enjoy your day with Capt. Scott! -

Lake Ontario charters are dirt cheap! If you are paying less than $800 for a day of fishing and you had fun...you should tip 20% The one service I am most familiar with, the captain books the trip, makes lodging arrangements, sets lines, gasses and maintains the boat, cleans the limit of fish, Empties the head, cleans the boat and posts pictures on Facebook. I think he deserves a $50 tip from each person onboard! Oh...and he remembers who tips and who doesn't......just sayin' Sent from my SCH-I545 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
