  1. April - insane action as reported by everyone .... We would fish the 50-70 fow gore the first hour, catch lakers then make a pass back to port in 8-12 fow to finish out the double limit on most days. Flashers in white with MOONSHINE'S Blue smoothie fly was all you needed for the lakers. We presented 3 of these combos on the bottom rigger, 80' Dipsy and 120' Dipsy. The Browns hit anything small that wiggled. Coho liked the Rapala GFR and red headed kaboom. Spoons on the riggers were hot MOONSHINE'S Ratchet Jaw and Super Shadow were tops. May -- to catch kings in May you fish the 44 degree water.... That is in 20-30' fow and the Blackjaws are there. The bite is high.....MOONSHINE'S Ratchet Jaw was on Fire on Saturday, on Friday it was the Raptor. On the boards the Bomber long A and # 13 Rapalas in fire tiger was the best followed by black & silver. Nice mixed bag.....6 species super slam on Saturday Shaping up to be some of the best spring fishing I've seen since my start in '76!
  2. Olcott .... You may want to move your post to the US - South Shore section for more replies.

  5. Sorry to hear about your friend, thanks for the report. Running a GFR rapala every day in memory of a uncle I lost this year. Makes me feel sort of good!!
  6. Truth be told it's not those guys....it is DEC and F&W rules that protect Cormorants, allow dumping, thermal and other types of pollution. Army Corp building Dams for electric companies. And many other exploitations by local municipalities that won't let you build a deck or put in a hot tub, but turn a blind eye to extreme nitrate ppm effluent that they are responsible for. That.....my friend is why fish populations are affected not some joe taking a couple of small or out of season fish.
  7. Shawn, I'll take the skis.....just drop them in my boat and I'll settle up with you next time I see you. Thanks
  8. Ray, I'm in need of: Miller 44's both in sliver and brass Clearwater 101 in blue and silver LJ Locos in chrome with green prism Sutton 06, 88, 31 A pro-combinator King Auto pilot Pink lady planers Jettison releases Willie Sea Skis Smooth silver Pirate 55 Rivera bullet weight with release on fin Made in japan diawa 47SH Let me know what you have!
  9. Bills Hooks featured on ch. 7 this morning. Great little tackle shop in Dunkirk!
  10. Capt. Jim would have loved to be out there with you guys.
  11. If you are not popping the first rod down in the morning you need to rethink your methods. Run till you mark bait turn your boat troll right back thru the bait with your best lure at the depth of the bait. Set a dipsy next stop it at 110'. Then continue with the other two riggers, next one in to temp 50-54 the other 10' above, when your done netting fish try to get the lines back out ASAP and do it quicker so you can get the 2nd dipsy and copper in, get half your box by 7:30 then search out the hogs later in the day! Pace yourself just right and you'll finish cleaning fish in 75 fow right in front of port at 1:30.
  12. Oh.....did I say a Moonshine Ratchet Jaw on a 5' rigger!! 40' back
  13. The "Small Fortune" has seen as many fish come across it's transom as any on the Great Lakes! Capt. Paul Dreher is meticulous in the care of his boat. You can see pictures of the business end of this boat at Paul's boat on his website www.fortunecharters.com
  14. And that's when he's fishing by himself ..... Shhhhhhh
  15. I may have missed it, but did anyone mention glowing colors? Mist glow lures glow only in the color green or white/green. MOONSHINE'S glow in many different colors from a bright green (Bad Toad) to a subtle purple (Purple Nurple, Bish's Bruiser). Deadly red glow (Bloody Nose, TNT) that allows a fisherman to offer deep fish that hot color. Orange glow (Tangerine Tiger) for high sliders. Blue glow (Ratchet Jaw)and yellow glow (Leopard). If you want to tone down the glow go to the RV series and pick your pleasure. I would recommend the Crabface RV or the Watermelon RV (yes it glows in green an pink)! When it comes to glow there is only one. (Bias added)
  16. Only the first one counts.....everyone after that is a bonus! Your welcome to count them hanging on a dead fish board at "salmo charters" on Facebook.
  17. Seeing how you can fit about 13 steelhead brains on a standard size lure.....they really should not be that hard for us to fool!
  18. I'll go old school too..... F3 silver evil eye w/ orange stripe slider for steel. New spoon --- MOONSHINE'S green shorts is hard to beat!
  19. Love catching spring kings on a med action 7' salt water rod with a penn 5000, 20# big game mono. Spinning reels are great for LO size fish if you have some skill, not the best for newbies on a charter boat.
