  1. I have had good luck using two or more elastic bands half hitched on the braid then clipped into a large Scotty release we pull some heavy coppers sections off of the Double Otters . The fewer connections the better IMHO.
  2. If you are using a leadcore rod it doesn't matter .HD3 works well in copper applications . But I see your point if you use a rigger rod .
  3. Possible loose set screw in the spool to shaft it is under the cable on the spool and or inner motor housing mount is breaking apart .
  4. Now I feel bad for taking that shot now my next cavity is going to cost me large .
  5. If you want big fish Atommiks and Spin Docs . Chad told me long ago he didn't know how to catch big Kings.
  6. X2 Some of my best big king days have come off of 5 and 7 cores with Atommiks and Spin docs with the right thermals in the months of June and July.
  7. The pully has nothing to do with it if you run your probe deep then retrieve it the cable will stack up on the reel and the cable cuts into itself . Drop your ball down to 100 feet at 3mph pull it up and the cable stacks up on one side of the reel.it's in the angle of retrieve when you pull it up off the transom the cable pulls straight on the reel. My observation.
  8. The cable will chafe if it is retrieved off to side the cable tends to stack on one side of the spool. What I do is turn the side rigger to the transom when I bring it in. You can set and deploy the cable to the side no problem the damage occurs on the retrieve with the stacking. I generally get a few seasons out of a cable.
  9. They are nice until they drop a latch lever pin and blow the side out of the tube when using them with wire divers. Had a pair do that keep a eye on the roll pin not enough metal in the tube were the pin goes through . Lock Tite Blue on the bolts that come loose on a regular basis. That being said they are not a bad unit but no better than Berts or Traxstech Etc.
  10. Peanut is a walnut size laker bait with a flat face usually trolled behind a gang troll. they do catch lakers.
  11. X2 coppers off of otters rock. The 200 is my best big fish producer short coppers off big boards still let the fish fight without killing them. The big sections I run down the shoot with a cone
  12. The motor housing and motor have to come off but there is a set screw in the spool that has to come out and with the wire on the spool you won't be able to get at it . You may have to cut the wire and replace . You have a real catch 22 on your hands. I own seven of those 10 A Mags. No caulking needed.
  13. Pickerel and pike are great pickled in a brine along with onions.
  14. You also need the rear rope to sink the bag when you deploy them . lift the rear rope to fill the bag. great units.
  15. X2 copper and otters match made in heaven . Lost to many big kings on inlines they take the fun out of fighting a fish it's more like fighting a board . my two cents.
  16. They are a great product if set-up and run properly . A lot of fish caught on them . I still have some plated ones that go back to the eighties. Never a good thing to see a local manufacture take a hit .
  17. Talked to a old ex charter captain he bought most of the left over blanks and he told me that there was a by-law zoning issue with the painting shop something about a residential area . True or not ? but that is what I heard. Tough racket to turn a profit in and the market is not as big as a lot of guys think it is.
  18. Fishing the pack is not fun boards or no boards everyone thinks the other guy is going in the wrong direction. Stay out of the pack and enjoy the day and most likely catch more fish.
  19. That makes me feel better they sure don't look like much I hope they work as well as everyone says they do.
  20. No replies so I bit the bullet and paid the $50 .
  21. Got a chance to pick up a used set of redwood boards in good shape. Any idea's what a used set is worth ? Don't mind paying what they are worth but also don't want to pay to much. Thanks for any help.
  22. I still have one in the basement they did break the odd arm but at those ball weights you should be ok . You can replace the arms with aluminum if you have to.
