  1. AWESOME !!! I keep saying i wanna try that !!!!
  2. They say that transducers do go bad after a while. Might be a bad transducer
  3. Last weekend my son and I fished Sat/Sun. Saturday we left port and went NW until i saw 68deg surface temp. Was about 650fow & 9miles out. There were already some boats out there. We set up there and trolled around for a bit. We didn’t pick up anything until we had trolled back in some. Spent a couple hours looking but once we found them it was a pretty steady pick all day. Nothing huge but enough to keep us interested. Ended up 7-11 with 2 in the 15# neighborhood. Sunday we got a late start due to my forgetting the cut bait at the hotel. Went to same area but a bit slower day. Was kinda bumpy so we struggled a little bit with boat control. Only ended up 1-2 with our best fish of the weekend, about 24-25#, but only fished about 3.5 hours. We ran riggers, divers, and lead core. Spoons and meat worked with meat rigs on the riggers getting the most action. (3 to 1) Tried FF and no takers. Direction of troll was very important. I believe that’s why we didn’t do as well Sunday. 18.5’ boat is tough to keep going straight when the waves are hitting the bow at 45deg angle.
  4. May have been better to start a new thread but as the guys in this one have experience with it i will ask here. How are you guys able to use FF sonar to improve you're catches ? Considering making the investment. I can see how it would help for bass fishing or casting for any fish but not sure how it helps when trolling. Obviously you can see if the fish come in to the spread and don't like what they see. Would love some input to help me justify the $$$. Thanks
  5. Ball park, how far off shore ?
  6. That's some lifetime memories right there !!!
  7. Great report. We had the same issue out of Mexico with the "nobody home". Riggers must have popped 10-12 times then stopped completely like flicking a switch.
  8. Obviously, and if we aren't on Lake O we will be fishing somewhere. Not a ton of experience on Lake O.
  9. With this big blow today/tomorrow out of the ease/NE, what does everyone think it will do to the fishing for this weekend ? Was thinking about making a day trip this weekend but now I'm thinking about pushing it off until another time.
  10. I’m interested to see what the east/NE winds do. I would imagine it will turn the lake over on the east end. My son and I are thinking about going out this weekend, but not sure if we shouldn’t wait a couple weeks for things to settle down.
  11. We get Atlantics all the time out of Champlain and they act like a crazy meth head. Jumping, runs across the spread or up next to the boat. Of course a BIG one is 8-10#
  12. Has anyone ever tried running a fly RIGHT behind a flasher ? On my last trip out my son caught a 28" steelehead. And when we go it to the boat, the fly leader was wrapped around the SD so that it was like there was almost NO leader between them. The fish fought well but didn't do anything that would make me think that the leader got wrapped furring the fight. If a fish will hit the flasher it stands to reason they might hit a fly with basically no leader at all.
  13. I spend a lot of time fishing champlain for lakers. We have done very well the past couple months using jointed rapalas in either black and silver or fire tiger. For some REAL fun try jigging vertically. We catch a lot of our best fish that way. Start in 85-90 FOW in the morning and move deeper as the day goes on. Last Sunday my 11 yr old son caught this 14# jigging. I am holding it in the pic but it was ALL him before that !!!
  14. I am considering a trip to hunt public land in Ohio for the late muzzle loader season in Jan. Does anyone have any experience with the public land out there ? I am planning on dragging my 10 year old along so if I'm going to run into 1000 other hunters I may scrap the idea. So any help for maybe a general area to start or anyone's past experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thx in advance !!! [ Post made via iPhone ]
  15. My only concern is that the next step is an earlier opener for the gun season. If that was to happen the deer hunting in NY would be fantastic for the first year or two and then once all the bucks were shot with rifles durring the rut, it would take a big turn for the worst.
