  1. Thanks man. It was pretty busy in there so I wasn’t looking to throw anyone off their game asking for fishing tips LOL [emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. Haha Nice! I’ll drop a line shortly, hopefully I don’t interrupt dinner. [emoji51] With the weather and my Thursday checkout I may try and fish Cayuga instead on the way home. Also, Boundary Breaks was the last stop for the wife and I. Grabbed a few bottles and we are enjoying them here on the deck. Stopped at Brewer’s in Ovid per Sk8s advice. Pam was epically nice to talk to and it was a cool little shop. They don’t make them like that these days. Picked up two Great Lakes spoons and a few MI stinger colors I didn’t have. Only one okie dokie on the rack and I wasn’t confident in the color so I left it. In retrospect I should have bought it, such a unique spoon. Thanks to everyone for chipping in with advice. Hopefully the lake lays down tomorrow and I can get out. 🤞🏻 Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. Thanks again Sk8! First stop headed north, Ryan William Vineyard! LoL Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  5. Thanks!! I’ll try to hit it today! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  6. So this is my first time on the lake and have spent the last two days fishing out of Sampson. Figured I’d give a quick update since the south wind is ripping up the lake today. Fished both sides of the lake both north and south of camp. Fishing between 80-160FOW using riggers set between 40-70’ and wire divers out 200’. My results have been OK, best bite seems to be the morning. Havnt turned a rod between 1-5pm. Only one small bow on the riggers on a hammered Sutton 61. All the other fish have been on the divers with green/black spoons. Best down speed seemed to be 2-2.5. Lots of smaller (and some larger) debris in the water, fleas seem to be denser on the NE side than the W. Also reeled in some serious vegetation when I wasn’t paying enough attention. Question 1: why can’t I buy a rigger bite? Tried both short and long leaders off balls as well as spoons. Question 2: any color or speeds to key in on for RT and LL? Feel free to PM Question 3: any tackle shops to visit in the area in between wineries? [emoji51] Photos of the two Lakers we got yesterday. Wife’s PB laker and a brute that fought hard and had to be responsibly released to the cooler. Grilled in foil in a basil vinaigrette. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. Based in Sampson’s Facebook page it appears they’re open. That said I think I’m delaying my trip by a day or two to try and let things settle out, sounds like I’ll need to be pretty cautious next week when I’m out. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  8. Oh man! I’m supposed to be camping at Sampson starting this weekend. [emoji22] hopefully it comes down/settles out and everyone’s ok out there. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  9. Thanks Guys. Any Pointers on spoons size and color? I’m bring everything but the kitchen sink. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  10. Bringing this one back up! So I’ll be headed out to Sampson end of next week to spend a few days on the lake. Very excited, been reading as man Seneca reports as I can find [emoji51]. Really hoping for some decent weather. Any pointers on spoon size/color would be appreciated. I fish a lot of smaller Sutton’s and honeybees here on George/Chanp/Schroon. That said it seems green is a popular one for Seneca and I might even be able to fish some Dreamweaver super slims?? I also bought some gambler rigs and a grease trap to run deep so I hope I have my bases covered. Hopefully I’ll have a good trip summary at the end with some photos to share. Thanks for all the past(and future) input! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  11. Skan is my fathers favorite lake, he fishes it often. Every now and then he gets a good one. While it doesn’t compare to the one from a few years back he was able to land this one which just hit 30” back in May. Pretty fish out of there for sure! 12. Thanks guys! Really, really appreciate the input. Lakebound, I may have to hit you up if you don’t mind. I ended up renting one of the “plush” cabins at Sampson so I’ll try and let everyone know how it works out. Hopefully I can get into some fish while I am there and my next post will be some fish photos. Looking forward it!! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  13. R11 - I’d for sure meet up but for one I know nothing about fishing Seneca and two, I won’t even be around until the following week. Thanks for the info Sk8man! I just booked a cottage at Sampson. This way the wife will be comfortable and I won’t have to put up a tent [emoji16]. A week cost less than the other 3 night rentals I was looking at. I figured having easy access to the launch and maybe even the possibility of getting a slip there made it a no brainer. It looks like a 20 minute drive from Sampson to Deans cove launch so I may have to try that a day as well! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  14. Thanks. That’s actually where I’ve been getting most of my info from. I ended up calling the pro and they were very helpful. I still have my concerns about the primitive cabins so may end up tenting it or tying to get one of the cottages. Hopefully I’ll be out there trolling in August- not sure how things are going round that time in that area but I’m looking forward to it. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  15. Hi guys- Been a while since posting as I have moved to the Albany area and no long fish Skaneateles lake. That said I still follow the boards and I’ve been dreaming about getting back west and on Seneca or Cayuga this late summer/fall. It just so happens A week opened up in August and there are almost NO rentals available with a solid dock and our dates available. I was hoping I could get some insight on planning a last minute trip to Sampson state park. I have Never been but they appear to have cottages and a launch. I can’t seem to find much info on the cottages except for one bad review on trip advisor from 2016 which said they had roaches! Seems possible to just rent a cabin and launch each day to fish. Are there overnight docks to rent or a day use dock? I’d welcome any insight, i know this might not be the best place to ask the question but I was hoping someone could share some info. Many thanks in advance Kyle Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. For my Suttons I found some open eye trebles at Janns netcraft. They work great when I want a treble instead of a j hook.
  17. Been doing pretty well this spring/early summer with lots of keeper class fish and up. Following the charter guys online, they seem to report the same. Our biggest so far was a respectable 6.5lbs which came on 10 color core. Last time I was on LG was 2 weeks ago, fish seemed to be suspending more. Salmon have eluded me. Left Lg alone last week due to americade and hit champ. Got some real nice fish. Flutter spoons and honeybees have been tops with some stick baits thrown in off boards. Good luck and report back what you find. With the nice weather Im sure the crowds are arriving [emoji20]. I was surprised to see the parasailing had started mid May!!
  18. Thanks- I did three searches on this topic but couldn't find anything. I guess I was doing it wrong. [emoji53]
  19. Has anyone ordered FLT spoons recently? It's been a few years since I have but I placed an order on the 6th and haven't heard anything since then. He still selling and just backed up or did something happen?
  20. Yeah, that one swam away to fight another day. It would be neat to start seeing a better LL fishery in Skan. Hopefully the lakes getting some of this rain we are having in Albany as well. I saw a photo of the town docks and WOW it was low. It looks like you might have to jump to get up on the dock.
  21. Nice bow! Congrats. You are spot on with this lake, great fishing but not always catching. As for reports, My father was out a few days ago and got a LL 60' down on a small spoon. I was blown away, I have never had the luck of getting one or of skan.
  22. Not to hijack but I like the flasher fly suggestion, to be honest I have likely underutilized them everywhere else but when I fished lake O. I checked out those grand slams, I like how they make a mini 3" version. Might have to put in an order.
  23. Bob- I am a capital region transplant from the FLs (hence I follow these threads) and likely live just north of you. For the last 2 years I have fished mainly schroon but have gotten out on George. Ive made it my goal to fish it hard this fall once tourist traffic dies down. This spring I launched at MDB and headed north, trolled the entrance to northwest bay and the east side of the lake up there. Noted a few boats, of which one appeared to be a charter, almost glued to that side of the lake in the deep water. As for lures, I trolled all spoons. Sutton 61 hammered in silver/brass and other small spoons in white or wonder bread took lakers. If you ever want to get out feel free to drop me a line, I'm still learning the area and always looking to meet or swap experiences with other fishermen.
  24. I have a few and a few of the pro-troll version. Never had much luck with them but I haven't fished them a ton either. Think I got them from cabelas. IMO you'd be better off spending your $ on scorpions, needlefish or similar.
  25. Thanks! Wish I could find them like that out here in the capital district. Mainly laker lakes within an hours radius of home. At least the scenery is good!
