  1. Ive taken my previous boat a tracker pro crappie 17 to the 2nd bridge many times bass fishing on hot summer days. Right around there are some large rocks and you will bottom out if you pass there. When I trolled the river for walleye summer nights I would only troll to the first bridge otherwise you will end up snagging bottom. Trolling rapalas you will probably even drag bottom sometimes before the first bridge if the water isn't high. It's not very deep after the first bridge during the summer months, but I never went out when the water was flying.
  2. First year for me fishing lakers through the ice… everyone here is right on the money when they said to run braid and a fluoro leader. I've been running 10 lb power pro and 8 lb fouoro ice leader. I attach the two with a small swivel I use for steelhead. My leader length is only 3 ft. This is all set up on a Shimano Stradic CI4 2500. this works great in 150 fow I wouldn't want anything smaller. I like running a shorter leader so it's less of a chance of the fluoro getting cut on the ice at the bottom the hole. I worry less when it's the that braid rubs. You will definitely have line rubbing on the bottom of the hole when they start fighting on the surface and you are directing their head towards the hole. If you attach the two lines with a swivel don't make your leader too long otherwise you will have a tough time reaching to get the fish out of the hole. Ive been using this set up on Keuka and pounding lakers. It's a lot of fun when they start screaming line through that hole in the ice. If you wanted to you could even go up to 15lb braid but I wouldn't go any higher. The 10/8 ratio works well for me.

  4. Thanks I'm gonna try it out later this week
  5. I'm looking for an access point for my first time on big bay. Today I fished out of Oneida shores county park launch only landing one small perch I released to catch another day. Everyone I spoke to on the ice seemed to be having a slow day as well. I'm looking to go to big bay but cannot find any access points on a map. I heard there's a bar you can pay for parking and I also heard there's some sort of drainage pipe owned by the town that people access. Anyone know the name of the bar or address to one of these access points? I just started ice fishing and heard big bay can get crowded on the weekends but can also produce some nice panfish so I want to try it out tomorrow if the weather is manageable. Thanks for any help or suggestions for an ice newbie.
  6. # one thing you can do in NY is to VOTE. The # two thing which is just as important as number one is NRA. The NRA protects the whole nation not just NY it protects our constitutional rights.!!!Without the NRA the whole nation WILL END UP LIKE NY
  7. Definitely spend the money on Korkers Omnitrax boots. I love mine and all my friends that own them love theirs as well. The bottom line model will cost you around $100. Buy the soles with the largest studs. I own every Korkers sole and those are the only ones I will ever use on the salmon river for steelhead. Ive owned all types of waders and you will regret getting boot foot waders. The Korkers Omnitrax are a great investment you won't regret.
  8. Thanks for the pics and the past threads. Really gives me a couple different solutions to my problem.
  9. I've been trying to edit pics but don't know why they keep showing upside down.
  10. Tried to attach my 2005 90hp Mercury outboard to my (2013 or 2014) Mercury 9.9 Pro Kicker Tiller using the Panther auxiliary connector rod. (probably shouldn't have tried the cheap way out but didn't want to spend 300 dollars on an EZ Steer after purchasing pro kicker) The only way I saw that I would be able to connect them was with the square shaped tab that was only attached to the kicker with one phillips head screw. This would not hold up and loosen after use. Connecting to this square tab will also rub on other components. Am I missing something or do I need to purchase the EZ Steer? The main reason I chose the Panther rod was price and that it could be removed or installed while in the boat. I have heard mixed reviews about the EZ Steer; dropping it in the water, having to go to shore to reconnect it; falling in the prop. Should I return the Panther to Cabelas and purchase the EZ Steer? I also have the Protroll 2 digital throttle that I will be installing after I figure out my steering connection if that has anything to do with that setup.
  11. Thanks jayjay really appreciate help from another Tracker owner
  12. Thanks for the responses saves me a lot of hassle and frustration. jayjay did you mount yours right on the transom and what shaft length do you recommend? 20"?
  13. I own a 2005 Tracker Targa17 sc with a 90 hp Merc. The 90hp Mercury 2 stroke doesn't suit my trolling needs on small and shallow lakes for musky or shallow trolling on Seneca. It's very loud and doesn't achieve the speeds I need. I also want a back up motor for safety when I'm trolling Ontario.I would like to add a 9.9 Mercury Pro Kicker for trolling. I would like to purchase a 9.9 because in a few years I would like to upgrade to a larger boat and will need a reliable kicker. I don't know if this motor will add too much weight in the aft of my 17ft Targa. I was hoping someone with a 17ft boat had any similar experience. I figure if i move two of my three batteries to the front of the boat (24v system for Minn Kota Terrova) it should balance it out. I also figured I can mount the 9.9 pro kicker w 20" shaft right on my transom. Thanks for any suggestions!
