  1. I live in West Elmira and used to fish the river specifically for muskies until I got the trout bug bad a couple years ago. 52" is the largest Ive heard from out of there. That is a true trophy. My max is 45". Some years are hit or miss. This time of year the river is so low you can walk across 80% of it (I've trashed several props throughout the years). Any fish that is caught at this temp in the shallow water is a goner; I really hope that fish is being put on a wall. One of the biggest dangers of boating in the downtown Elmira area is dodging submerged shopping carts, bicycles and tires. Watch out for the hood rats and thugs along the riverside in the downtown area. Always wear shoes because I almost stepped on a syringe in my reef sandals at the dunn field launch 4 years ago. DEC presence could be greatly used in the down town area; I highly doubt a 1/5th of the people fishing have liscenses. I love the Chemung and always will; its where I got my start and will fish it the rest of my life. Congrats on the trophy whoever caught it!
  2. 1 small king 50 down over 250 on watermelon spoon. The flies are real bad right now
  3. Fished noon to 5 pm. I was solo running 3 rods out of a 17 ft boat. Fished spoons different depths over 200 fow. Halfway decided to Drag spoons and cowbell rigs on bottom over 150 to 200 fow. No luck. Only marked one large bait ball. Marked a handful hooks but no action. Was nice to get out and enjoy the weather and fishing was a bonus. Will be out Sunday afternoon to try again. Going to focus on deeper water if weather permits. Any info appreciated
  4. We got off the water and were unloading fishing equipment off the boat as the storm started. Glad we got off the water when we did. There were still boats trolling when the heavy rain started and we were carrying everything up to the house. Glad everyone made it out okay!
  5. I was not in the tournament fishing but had my boat at a buddy's cottage about 4 docks down from Severne launch and we were getting hail the size of dimes pounding everything in their path for about 20 min. Glad his boat was in the pole barn and mine was up on his lift. I wish I had some pics of the hail we scooped up with our hands after the storm
  6. I have a 2005 17' tracker with a mercury 9.9 pro kicker (96 lbs 2014 specs *corrected) and I was taking on a little water in my spashwell… but I also had three batteries in the rear and full tank (approx 28-32 gallons?). I moved two to the front and It rides very nice now. I can fish 3 grown men no problem. 9.9 would have been sufficient for you boat but I honestly don't know the weight difference between the 9.9 and 15 depending on manufacturer; its probably not that much different. I know my boat was designed for adding a kicker though. I don't know about the prolines but they are a nice ride.
  7. We headed out of Wrights at 6:30 am we fished east to the plant buoys back and forth until about 2 pm. We ended up with two small Browns one just just under 18 and one over 18. One was caught off a green yozuri minnow off a board and the other was caught down the chute on a purple spoon. One fish was too injured so we kept it. We focused on 5 to 20fow and made our way out to 60 at one point. Water temp ranged from 50-52. It was a slow day.The trolling fleet ended up separating before 10 am and a lot of boats headed to deeper water but we focused on the skinny water to try and pound some Browns. We were just happy to make it on the water and outlast the weather until 2pm.
  8. Elmira last weekend. I had to leave town for the weekend and came back to this. Not my proudest moment shoveling her out; that was a first. Back in the garage she went. This was after having her out fishing Oswego and Seneca in the beginning of march.
  9. http://marine.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lon=-76.51557&lat=43.46551#.Vus2XEtBxKg NOAA small craft advisory until possibly sat afternoon. I might be fishing Oswego Sunday (hopefully).
  10. I flat lined sticks off planer boards sunday. Definitely some weeds around. I focused on water 30-80 ft. I fished up to the plant and I fished the bluffs on the east side just to change it up. I was running 3 rods by myself and got skunked. Oh well maybe next time. In the past this time of year I did really well on flat lines. I really thought fishing the skinny water would work out better but I marked more in 80 fow I used to do well on the South end of the lake but have done better on the north end this past year.
  11. Are the tattle flags for the tx-22s worth the upgrade from the standard flags? Ive never used them with the tattle flags.
  12. We launched at wrights landing at 7 am. This was our first trip of the year and everything on the boat ran perfectly. The two of us ran 5 lines on boards until 3:30. We went 3/3 on Browns and they all fired on the same rod running a yozuri minnow. I landed my personal best a nice 30"er for our first fish of the day. Perfect day on the water the weather was amazing. Not the hottest bite all were spread out throughout the day. We were pumped to land a pig brown on our first trip of the year!!!
  13. lol very nice musky… thanks for sharing
  14. I fished there noon to 5:30 with with no action whatsoever. King Slammin is right about the cracks in the ice. There are also plenty spots of break up and refroze ice out there. I had to step over an 8-10" gap of open water today. I saw one sled out there today closer to shore; but you wouldn't catch me out there on one. With the warm weather tomorrow it might be hairy out there with more cracking and shifting. If it wasn't going to be so warm Tuesday I would have stayed fished again. Good luck, be safe!
  15. I have done it on a Minn Kota for a tracker grizzly. Its pretty simple. I followed these directions. It has pics too. http://www.tinboats.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=15467
  16. Thanks! Transparency needed to be adjusted. It is working properly on some areas such as the finger lakes but is not showing properly on southern shore of Ontario now. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  17. I have the east region and am located in ny. I hit the minus button to zoom all the way out and it still looks the same. Mine won't let me zoom all the way out to see the whole state or east section it only allows me to zoom out so far not allowing me to see very much. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  18. My chart will not show contours in 3D on my Lowrance hds 7 touch. I have attached pictures of what settings I have it on. I updated my navionics card on my computer. I watched a couple tutorials online but they have not solved my problem. This is my first time using navionics and help would be greatly appreciated. I am stumped. 19. I got skunked 8/30 fishing 130 to 180 fow outside the break wall . Only saw a couple other hook ups while trolling with the fleet. Hardly marked anything all day. I would go deep. I talked to someone with more experience at wrights landing and they said they found the thermocline deeper than where I was fishing and they had a cooler full of fish.
  20. I had a hard time trying to figure out between LL and Rainbow, how do you know by the spots on the tail? In person it was more silver than in the pic. Does the forked tail have anything to do with it?
  21. I Fished the West side of the lake and marked fish from 50 ft to 10ft all over 100 fow or more. I had a big hit on the 35' rigger and landed this 26"er. I released it along with a small lake trout. I landed both on the pink and green spoon. This was the largest I have ever caught on skaneateles; great day on the water!
  22. I've been trolling the east side from launch to half mile past boy scout camp ( using northern/ green color patterns. the largest was a 7.5" grandma) . I probably need to change my routine (20 fow or less)or get my @$$ out of bed! Ive always been a fan of evening trolling; but morning has produced for me in the past. Ive been musky fishing about 5 years about 3 or 4 on waneta.. i'm no professional. I'm praying theres not a tournament tomorrow. I loooove fishing mondays I always produce on week days. Less tubers and jet skis when trolling the east side . Casting Ive been having a lot of followers but the figure 8s haven't been working. Other years I was pounding them this time of year but I have been putting in far less effort than other years . Weather has made it tough for for this weekend warrior but hey it's musky fishing… they will come.
  23. I'll be there tomorrow trolling j13s and casting large spinner baits depending on boat traffic during morning and early afternoon. Only been out there a handful of times this year due to weather and work. Have had a lot of lookers boat side but I have only fished after heavy rain or mid afternoon on a busy weekend; not the most optimal times. Plenty of large pickerel hitting the musky baits though.
  24. I need 2 dust covers for Shimano Stradic CI4 2500… have any???
