I just finished a week long stay at the 'Lake Lodge'. It was nothing short of ice fishing paradise. The location is very nice. 5-15 min sled ride to many of the fishing grounds. The accommodations are amazing.... it feels like a home away from home. Very cozy. Heated garage to dry out all your gear after a day on the ice. Most everything provided to make your stay comfortable. Really just need food, cocktails, and fishing gear! Owner was an excellent communicator throughout the entire rental process and went above and beyond to make sure our group had a wonderful experience..... Congrats to everyone that filled tags this year. Some beautiful whitetail have been harvested this season and I thoroughly enjoyed this thread. Personally, I will be looking up recipes for tag soup, stew, and my favorite.... tag tartar. This is the first time not having punched a tag in over 10 yrs.... It bruises the ego a bit but it also reinforces,in part, my my deep love of the sport. So a tip of the cap to one of North America's most formidable animals and a very safe and merry Christmas to the LOU family. Looking forward to icing some eyes.... Sorry to hear that. On one hand it might be considered the humane thing to do- dispatch a terminally injured animal. However, it is a lot of work to harvest a deer and have it be a total loss.
