  1. Could they make it through via Welland canal?
  2. I always put an 8mm clear bead above my barrel swivel to prevent reeling in thru the eyes. They even named it after me, " Dummy" bead.
  3. If you're healthy and able to get out and hunt or fish, be thankful. I just had hernia surgery Monday and am one hurtin puppy. Except for the pain and soreness, all went well. Gonna be awhile before i can walk the bank and fish though.
  4. Hey Sean, I know ive seen you down to the lower river. I'm there alot between mid October til early May. I'll PM you for your phone # and we can meet up sometime or exchange info.
  5. First of all, my guide was a 23 yr old kid who was wise and knowledgeable beyond his years. The kid put me on fish and acted like a true professional the whole time. On my last day there, I told him I had a setup I wanted to try. I tied together two 5oz banana trolling weights and he threw on about an 8ft leader to the plopper. We sent it down and caught about 5 fish with it.He was shaking his head and laughing alot. This picture shows the 4 main lures used to get the Lakers. 6. In the shallow, rocky areas with sparse weeds, 1 oz Mepps Cyclops spoons ( firetiger and orange) were the hot setup, followed by Mepps #5 spinners black/ chartruese. When we got to deeper, weedy areas, I put on a 8" chartruese hologram twister tail grub w/ 3/4 oz weedless jig head and the pike just murdered it. I only had a 5 pack so it only lasted 2 1/2 days. I had white red head ones too, but they werent as interested in them. I dont target pike around here, only catch the occasional small one. Sometimes I would read or hear that pike dont fight. Well, these ones did. I had my drag set pretty tight and they would have the drag screaming. Lot of fun.
  7. Forgot to post this one of a 21 pounder on a whopper plopper Sent from my SM-G900V using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  9. I figured out how to post pics, do it from my phone instead of iPad. The laker in the previous pic was 30 lbs. Caught about 18 over 20 lbs. The pike was 39 inch, 18 lbs. Caught about a dozen over 10 lbs and tons of smaller ones. This pic was taken at 11 pm. Sent from my SM-G900V using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  12. Went on a trip last week to Lake La Martre for 6 days of fishing lakers and northern pike. I was a bit leery as to wether lakers and pike would hold my interest for 6 days, but by the 2nd day, I was sold. By the last day , I didnt want to leave. LLM is in the Canadian NWT, between Great Slave and Great Bear lake. You float plane in from Yellowknife. The lodge itself is located on a small island in the middle of the lake. They only have 7 cabins so they take a max of 14 clients every 6 days, mid June to mid September. The staff goes out there way to make you feel welcome, everbody knows your name. They are the only lodge on the 1,000 sq mile lake. If anyone has ever considered going there, I rate it 2 thumbs up. I was gonna add more pics, but they all seem to come out upside down. If I figure it out, I'll post more.
  13. Took the wife and daughter out this morning with Capt. Vince of Thrillseeker fishing. My daughter got the day started with a fat 27 lbs King. My wife was next up and landed a 23 pounder. Our third fish was a 15 lbs. Steelie. Got one more 21 lbs King, the rest were 10 plus pounds and a nice mix of big steel. Another great job by 1st mate Nick. ( Vince, what would you do without him??? ) 1.7 seconds after the pic of the Steelie was taken, he tail wacked me in the, ummm... groin area.
  14. great info guys. Time to start some online research.
  15. I went to the outdoor show in Hamburg this year and there was a lot of booths promoting Lake Nipissing. I scooped up a brochure from just about all of them. They all seem to provide the same setup- Lodge and a boat. Just wondering if anyone has tried one of these trips. Is it easy to find fish without a guide? I have no boating experiance, is that a problem? Any info appreciated.
  16. Took my wife and daughter out today with Capt. Vince of Thrillseeker fishing. We had a blast. I think our total fish landed was 19. We got 2 browns, 2 coho, 1 steelhead and a bunch of fat slob lakers. Released all of them to fight another day. Vince and 1st mate Nick did a great job of getting us on the fish and making everything easy for me and my girls. Thanks guys.
  17. I ended up getting a 2 pc. 9ft Okuma Magnum XH casting rod for $ 99. Its good for lures 2-8 oz. I've taken it out a couple times for practice and it seems to be plenty of rod. I think it only weighs like 9 oz.
  18. 15 over 3 days, nothing bigger than 3.5 lbs. Kinda slow for some reason. Over 20 a day per boat is not uncommon.
  19. Got the family in Orlando for spring break, so me and one of my boys went bass fishing on lake Butler yesterday with Capt. Scott. About mid morning, the capt. went overboard. My son reached out, grabbed his hand and pulled him back in. Of course, the capt wouldnt have had to go diving in head first if my son hadnt dropped his rod in the water ! He came up saying " I GOT IT !" My son pulled him in and we all laughed about it the rest of the morning.
  20. I booked a bass charter last year through the Roland Martin marina website and had a great time. Caught a lot of nice fish in the 4-6 lbs range. We had a guide named Ed Stedley.
  21. As I read this, I thought for sure it was gonna end with " Then eat the cedar plank". LOL
  22. Caught this Monday on a bass charter on Lake Butler near Orlando.( right next to Shaq's house). Went for bass on Mon. and Fri. Did some ocean fishing on Sat. and Sun. Only ocean highlight was getting a 5 ft shark to the boat before he broke off. The largemouth Im holding was 7 1/2 lbs. As a bonus , the weather was great!
  23. Since I live 10 minutes from the LQ bridge, I finally decided to check out Bass Pro. I have to say they have quite a huge selection of fishing tackle geared to our fishing scene. The Musky section and Salmon section were pretty impressive. With the exchange rate as it is, I figured I'd buy a couple things. My total was about $43.50 and with tax ( 13%) came out to 48.99. After exchange, it was 34.25 US. However they figure it out, my total was 70% of the original bill.
