This to me  it has nothing to do with Trump . It's bigger than him . There are those that are trying to take away the constitutional rights of the American citizens.  And tear up the constitution and start over . Like Nancy shamefully did at the state of the union.  

Weaponizing the DOJ and IRS against political opponents . Obama did this .

Impeaching Trump for something Biden actually did . Or a sitting senator saying out loud " we are going to impeach the Mother F er" after he just took office . There is no decorum any more . Biden says we have to work together but they don't want to work with Repubs . Trump had a DACA bill already to sign and Dems would not do it.  Why ? I'll tell you why , same old crap . 

Media holding back stories that could have cost Biden the election . Some media admitted to this . 

 Concerned Parents at school board meeting being branded terrorists ?

Im  liking Tulsi Gabbard these days . She has a lot of good things to say . 

As we have just honored our great Veterans on their day I wonder this . 

The Constitution is the basis of this great country and many have fought and died for it . 

Freedom of speech is the keystone . 

It's pretty obvious that is getting slowly eroded . Laws past about hate speech , also  cancelation , endoctorination ,etc. 

So how can anyone who risked their lives for the constitution, support anyone who would be part of that ? 

Every time I drive to my cottage on Sandy from Holley , including this morning , I drive across 6 bridges that cross the creek , on propose . This morning there were probably 50 cars total . Most from out of state . A lot of money there . 

I don't get why we can't be happy for another guys passion with this diverse  fishery .Of all the fishing of the LO trout /salmon , my favorite, and I do it all, is spring steelhead fly fishing .  With the the Atlantic's, we're  only talking about a few fish in the grand scheme of this fishery . 

Sure would be nice to have a nice new shiny state of the art hatchery . 

My wife and son are Libertarians . 

I really like a lot of their viewpoints on things . But they can never win a major political position. They don't play the game . 

On abortion , I find some people's stance just a little ironic . When our GI servicemen got off the planes at the airports they were met with protesters calling them " Baby Killers"  .

In a nutshell , the above is why we have the surge in crime . The justification of bad behavior by delusional lefty's who think ," well , if we just give this guy another chance ,he will do the right thing " . How's that working out for us ? Not great . It all looks good on paper but in reality does not work . 

Talk to law enforcement about this and get their take . They know who the criminals are and are reluctant to arrest them because they will be back out in the street hours latter laughing in their face . 

It's pretty simple , if you don't want to go to jail , don't commit crimes that put you in a position for bad things to happen to you . We have to get back to that . 

If a person commits a violent  crime while out on bail ( or no bail as it seems )  , no bail .  Sit in jail and wait till trial  . One less emboldened habitual offender on the streets law abiding citizens have to worry about .

As for the bail issue. At no point in time were violent crime suspects let go without having to put up bail.

All crime went up like what 50% last year ? Maybe it went down 2 % from that.  Is that improvement ? Don't pee on my leg and tell me it's raining . If you want to be gullible enough to believe it go for it . Not me . 

I don't think any of us want to see someone go to jail for something stupid or lapse of judgement.  But a lot of the degenerates get out and do the same thing the next day . Over and over . It becomes a minor inconvenience . But hey , they have to make a living too ! 

80% of NY city voters voted for Hockel . With all the crime down there and the no bail thing ,they must like and want the crime , or they are just plain stupid . Next time some scumbag sucker punches or pushes one of them in front of a subway train , etc , I have zero sympathy for them and don't want to hear it.   

Problem with the population centers controlling the vote is we have  poorly run city based politicians telling farmers what to do with their land .

Actually it's not the job of the President or the executive branch to pass laws. That's the job of Congress or the legislative branch . Checks and balances . I'm surprised you did not know that . You remember the constitution , that piece of paper that's in the way of Dems being our supreme leaders forever .

Look at the state of the country , foreign and domestic all around then and now . 

To say what we have now is better than what we had then is lunacy .

I love those yard signs that say hatred has no home here . Unless of course it's Trump or one of his supporters .

Things are a huge mess in this state. 

NY city crime wise is terrible and getting worse . People had a chance to change that and chose not to . So they must like and want it , right ? 

I always thought those anti violence rallies that seem to happen every weekend were a joke . We hear community leaders cry about opportunities. People had a chance to really do something about it and didn't . Why ? 

Inflation, high gas prices, Afghanistan withdrawal fiasco, his son and his financial dealings , welcome mat at the boarder , stock market and 401 k tanking, crime , crime ,crime ,no bail .

Shortages , defund the police . Rampant welfare and entitlements . 

Oh , and that war that is going on . 

Our reputation as a nation being seen as weak.  Little rocket man and his daily missile testing . China eating our lunch .

Some people are in denial about what is going on in this country .

Are we better off now than we were when Trump was our president ?

The comments on mitochondrial DNA are interesting. My lab studies mitos, and we published a paper a couple years ago where we identified a protein expressed on the outside of sperm mitochondria, but not oocyte mitochondria, which is responsible for initiating selective degradation following zygotic fusion. Hence, Morgan-E's comment that by looking at mito DNA, they're be definition following the female lineage resonated with me. I'll take a look at that study. After reading all this, IMO , the best course of action going forward is to re-up the creek lampry treatments . The horse is out of the barn as far as the adults go so let them age out unless it's NOT an effort of futility trying to kill them . 

Spend the money and concentrate efforts on a new  state of the art hatchery . 

I gave up hunting long ago because I'd rather trib fish and other reasons . But I'd be all in with my 12 gauge 1100 killing as many of those slimy bastards as possible

I have landed some big kings the last few weeks . And I have landed a lot of " jacks " also and seen other anglers do the same . More than any other year .

I think we all would like better fishing. But if DEC listens to some of the loud voices out there , seemingly most with financial interests , and pack the lake with kings it could be catastrophic. It took decades for Michigan to bounce back from their mistake . I'm 64 , that could be the rest of my life . So I'm in agreement with the " be on the safe side " approach . 

The bait is   not there  , they can't make it magically appear . 

King salmon are native to the Pacific Northwest from northern California to Alaska in the ocean  . They run huge glacial rivers to spawn.  A mighty mean environment . They are not dainty by any means . They are extremely strong fish  with a strong will to survive . So I think at least some fry survive to return to spawn as adults . Some years better than others . 

If the eggs hatch , they have a chance . If there is fry at the mouth , how would they ever know if any survive and return . 

And maybe some of those strays in Hilton spawned years ago and their fry imprinted to that stream and some of those are natural reproduced return fish.  Not as far fetched as you might think .

Brian , you can have your opinion , I have mine . 

We were told way back when that spawning salmon don't bite  and they won't natural reproduce . 

Both were proved wrong . 

Sandy has the best habitat by far to natural  reproduce any fish . There may not be a lot , but I believe there are some . 

Last year water flows were very high which IMO is good . And please don't tell me about smolt , temp ,etc . These kings are in the creek at 75 degree water .  If the eggs hatch , they have a chance and some will survive . That's mother nature's way .
